I coerced my friend into getting this practice set in lieu of a real set (he lives in an apartment with little space and lots of noise requirements). I've had the opportunity to use this little practice set for about four hours. Although the set is small, it is well put together. It is very quiet, as the pads are rubber. The pads have a nice rebound to them, which mostly simulate that of a snare or tom. The bass pad is plastic and does not provide any rebound feedback, but that's OK, because you don't expect much rebound from a bass head. The set is adjustable, so one can mostly move the pads around to represent a snare and three toms, or a snare, tom, and two cymbals. You'll probably want to get a hi-hat pedal to play with on this set to fully emulate a small complete set - that will certainly help you with your coordination as you use this set to practice on.

When i first saw this practice pad set it looked like it was ok and it was on sale, so i ordered it. when i got it i figured out why it was so cheap. it is super small (the frame is about 3'x3') and the pads are just heavy plastic that are very load. The pads constently come unscrewed and move up and down because the clamps don't go tight enought.the set is also very low quality and really heavy (about 25 pounds). if you want something for a little kids to play around with then this is ok but, if you want to seriously practice I suggest you buy the remo set or just a single practice pad.

DISAPPOINTED

By xxsmokey

I just got the kit. i believe that it is ok for what is. But i used a double bass pedal on it and snapped the kick pad bolt right off. i was having a lot of fun, now i have to find a way to repair it. I dont know if the same thing would have happenned with a single bass pedal or not. i play the double bass, i should have been able to practice at it.

Great concept - Poor quality

Product is not very durable. Kick pad bolt broke after second day of use. I also had problems with the bolts/brackets. I could not get the bolts tight enough to keep the brackets from moving. Finally one of the brackets became stripped and now it doesn't hold at all. Great concept, but poor quality.

This Product Is Poop

When I got around o playing this practice set I realized what a huge mistake I had made. Yes it might be a lot quieter than an acoustic set but it is so bad quality that you'd be better off just buying a real drumset and putting muffling mesh pads on it.

When sound is too much....

This Pulse practice pad set is just what the Doctor ordered. My studio is great for full drums, but being able to hammer away at new beats by my computer ROCKS. Thanks Musicians Friend!

Terrible Product, Please Don't Buy

I regret buying this. As soon as I got it, I realized that it came with no extra parts, or instructions. The bolts aren't strong enough, the chrome is too slick and assembly is extremely difficult. The actual set itself is too small for anyone over 5', it has a very unrealistic feel and the pads are just pieces of plastic. Please do not buy, save up for a remo practice set, or something else.

after a couple weeks of having it, the weld that held on the bass pad screw popped right off. Now i can only hit the other four pads which really sucks. You've got to have a bass drum pad.

Great Value

This set is great for practice and the price is great to. If you take your time setting it up, it will work great. Although it needs some tightening every now and then, I'm not complaining. It's a great value so if you need something like this now, it's a must.

An awesome practice tool

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I'm exactly sure why everone else says this product is so bad, because i've had a great time with it. It's quiet, compact, and has a reletively realistic feel. It's true that it doesn't include instructions, but if you just print out a picture, and use some common sense, you'll have it togetner in no time!!. The only complaints I'd have would be that 1. it takes an enourmous amount of tightening the screws to keep the pads from slipping down, but once you get it set, it stays. Also, it would be nice if the pads had different pitches in relation to which drum they represent. However, if you buy some Remo drum pads of different sizes, they screw on just fine. Other than that, I would say that this is a great substitute for a real drum set!!
