When we look for a guitar/bass stand and we see a compact a-frame stand we might think "It has no sticky-uppy thing that holds the neck. This cannot be a good stand!" But I disagree.

I have owned my Fender Jazz bass since 1980 and I have suffered through numerous guitar stands that, although they do hold the neck up by the headstock, the bottom of the bass body often, when bumped (or not!), slides off the straight bars of the body-support fork. When my axe slips out of the guitar stand and hits the floor I start looking for something better. I bought a Quik-Lok a-frame stand in 1990, lost it and just bought another one.

There are many good stands out there, to be sure. But, in the studio, at home or at a gig, I believe in the Quik-Lok a-frame guitar stand. Dig?

The 631 used to be my favorite stand. That's the OLD 631. The new one has a nicer mechanism, but the front left arm's tip turns in too far. Unless your guitar is under 1 7/8" (preferably even 1 3/4") in body thickness (including any arch from the edge), the tip is bound to touch (or scratch?!?) the top of your guitar.
The old one would 'catch' the guitar if it leaned forward. The new one will push the tip of that hook into your top. Granted only foam and plastic are touching the top, but even that can cause marring on the finish.
The new ones where decently priced when I got them, but now they are almost twice as much, so needless to say I won't be getting more of these, even though my collection is still growing.
Other than that it is very solid and well built.

Comments about Quik-Lok Electric Guitar "A" Frame Stand With Original Quik Lok Mechanism.:

I first bought one of these stands in 1990, and I have used them ever since. I've never had guitar fall or tip out of my Quick Lok stands. They have never "burned" or discolored any of my nitro finished guitars; a problem seen in other stands. They set up in about two seconds and fold just as quickly. A well made, well engineered peoduct.

Comments about Quik-Lok Electric Guitar "A" Frame Stand With Original Quik Lok Mechanism.:

The legs lock solidly into place and the padding does not allow for slippage of your guitar. It's a lot easier to get your instrument in and out of the stand with nothing to get in the way of the neck. Unobtrusive on stage and as stable as a rock.

Super sturdy stand, kind of a funky trigger, it say you push it in to fold or unfold the stand but actually you pull a plastic lever, hope it's sturdy, time will tell

Comments about Quik-Lok Electric Guitar "A" Frame Stand With Original Quik Lok Mechanism.:

Sits close to the ground. Only about an inch and a half clearance for an LTD FM404 bass because of its shape. The arms leave enough room for my cable to remain under the bass without being pinched. Very sturdy. No wobble. Very pleased.

Seems to hold my bass guitars relatively securely, yet quite portable. The soft rubber material prevents scratching the back of the guitar. Am quite pleased, and may purchase another one!

I got this for a double neck epiphone guitar. Solid and heavy, my guitar rests secure on this stand. Ground clearance is not much, and there's nowhere to place the strap so it is all over the floor but besides that the stand is great

Comments about Quik-Lok Electric Guitar "A" Frame Stand With Original Quik Lok Mechanism.:

This is probably the best folding A-frame stand available. My guitar sits in this more securely than it does in the higher priced stands that I have, which hang the guitars near the head stock. It is also more stable with its lower center of gravity. It really is my favorite stand that I have right now. So, why only 4 stars? Two things:
Firstly, this stand is a bit bulkier than other A-frame stands, and not quite as portable. It won't really fit in a gig bag or even the small rolling case that I keep my cables in. I understand that this is the trade-off for the stability that this stand has, and you just can't have everything, can you?
Secondly, and this is slightly more annoying, I have to be really careful if I leave my guitar plugged in when using this stand. The arm that the guitar rests on is nearly perfectly aligned with my guitar's output jack, so I have to lean the guitar slightly to one side for the cable to clear the arm. Looks kinda weird, but still very stable. The arms are also in a fixed position, so no adjustment is possible without potentially damaging the stand.
These problems aside, I'd still highly recommend this stand to anyone tired of worrying about their guitar getting knocked about. It really is the most stable stand I've ever used.

The only stand I would trust my 78' Rickenbacker to. Holds stable and no scratching. I had a stand that held the bass by the head stock, but it wasn't stable and of course broke and it cost more that this one. Would highly recommend!!

These are wonderfully stable and rugged stands. They're far superior to any of the stands I've been able to find at local music sores.

I like it. It is heavy and stable enough to feel secure. It opens and folds easily. I think it is made of better material than the usual guitar stand that has the tall neck and yoke at the top. it sets the guitar at a nice angle that allows it to sit up right enough so you can get it closer into a wall. I am thinking about buying a second one for myself after purchasing this one for my son. My ONLY concern is I read that some of these have rubber that is harmful to nitro finishes. This one made no mention, but I am still slightly cautious.
