Comments about Quik-Lok Heavy Duty Height Adjustable Mixer / Speaker Stand:
This is a great stand. What's weird is that it came it a box that was obviously loose cardboard taped together. Inside that was the retail stand box, it was severely damaged. No one would have EVER bought this package in a store. However since it was just a stand I didn't want to deal with sending it back, and I accepted the package. The stand itself is fine and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a Keyboard stand. It's smaller than an X stand when transporting, and I feel like it is much more stable. You can also sit and fit your knees under which is essential.
Comments about Quik-Lok Heavy Duty Height Adjustable Mixer / Speaker Stand:
Overall this is a good, solid stand. It is stable when set up. There is no side to side movement. I feel safe with my $2000 mixer sitting on it.My criticism is the plastic parts used on the extension legs. Two of them were cracked open down one entire side upon delivery. The plastic is thin and I expect that the other two will do the same. I repaired them with a flexible adhesive. These parts are not integral to the strength of the stand - merely cosmetic. What concerns me is that the top of the stand has 4 plastic pieces that the mixer rests on. If these are made of the same material it is likely that they will also fail with use. I hope not - in every other way the stand is exceptional.
Comments about Quik-Lok Heavy Duty Height Adjustable Mixer / Speaker Stand:
I ask alot of a keyboard stand. Two of my primary gigging boards (Yamaha XS8 and Hammond XK-3) are heavy, and I like to really get into the music and "dig in" when I play. I'm probably rougher on stands than most keyboardists due to my playing style. I've been using this stand and its matching second tier for about six years now, and I won't tell you that it's 100% wobble free, but I will say that without question it is the most stable stand I have ever owned or used. If you usually play mildly or lightly, this stand will be as solid as a rock for you. Ideally, I prefer the Hammond on bottom, but was concerned that the top tier wouldn't handle the weight of the XS8. I tried it anyway, its been doing great, and the top tier is fine at holding an 88 note heavy keyboard. This is a genuine testiment as to the strength and stability of this stand, both upper and lower. It really is very well thought out and built. There has been only one small fault - when the top tier was about two years old (holding a Roland JV-1000), one of the welds began to crack, and one of the tiers started to slowly sag to one side as it bent (keep in mind my heavy handed playing style didn't help the situation). The weld still held up, and after about six months I had it re-welded and repainted, and its been fine ever since. After looking at the current version of the second tier, I see that they are using a different type of arrangement than on mine, so it appears they've solved the weld problem. Also, I think this stand is better for sitting players (as I am) than standing. To adjust the legs to a suitable standing height makes them too long and they will lose their stability.
Comments about Quik-Lok Heavy Duty Height Adjustable Mixer / Speaker Stand:
I went to my local music store to checkout some keyboard stands. I was sick of using those x style stand that don't go very low. I stumble across this stand holding a Motif XS8 like mind. It is wide enough to hold the whole keyboard and seems to be very sturdy. It can also go a little lower in height which is a must for me because of back problems when playing with a standard x style stand at it's lowest point. If you want a stand that will not drop your high dollar workstation this is the right one to buy, plus it is very compact and easy to setup. There is also additional pieces you can buy to make it hold a 2nd teir and keyboard. The item numbers for these products are WS-562, this is for the cross bar that holds the 2nd teir, and Z-727 for the 2nd teir that holds another keyboard on top of your 88 key workstation. Well worth the money and much more stable than your standard X-style stand. I suggest going to quik-loc.com and look under mixer stands and find the WS-550. There will be other pictures for it and what it can do, they don't have the pictures on here. God bless!
