Comments about Raxxess Sliding Rack Shelf:
Good for the price.
Allthat I can say is that itis good for the money. This is the second one I have bought, may get another.
Would of gave it a 10, but screws have slight interference.
Comments about Raxxess Sliding Rack Shelf:
I bought this to velcro a small mixer into my rack. It arrived broken - seems that the shelf is particle board and the side rails are screwed in with small short wood screws. 4 of the 6 screws fell out of the bag on opening - all 4 holes were blown out. The rails were like cheap furniture drawer rails - and would not stand up if turnedupside down or jostled too much in the band truck - certainly not for airline use. Too bad - I should have spent the extra 10 bucks and got this one instead (now on its way) #451678. My compliments to MF customer support who quickly and efficiantly resolved my problems - they deserve 5 stars! Do yourself a favor - get the metal drawer with heavy duty sliders - your gear is worth it.
Comments about Raxxess Sliding Rack Shelf:
I bought one simply to hold a guitar wireless and a dual mic wireless and it's just fine. I honestly didn't want to spend up to $100 for something low-load. It's more than adequate and it seems to be able to hold much more weight than I am employing it for.Overall, to add more weight you'd have to probably use the included back braces as well, but again, it's smooth, it looks good, and it works well under (my low) load level.
Comments about Raxxess Sliding Rack Shelf:
I purchased this rack shelf while looking for a surface to place a small MIDI controller on which could slide out of view when not in use. In my experience, rack shelves are generally hard to get wrong on the manufacturer's part, so I opted to go for the cheapest one I could find. In retrospect, this was probably a mistake. While this shelf does a perfectly fine job of supporting whatever weight I place upon it, even when fully extended (which is 11 inches, not the advertised 12), it is a nightmare during the times when I am using it regularly. The screws placed along the bottom of the sliding rails to fasten to the shelf create multiple harsh dents which catch very suddenly and strongly on the railing when you attempt to pull the shelf out or push it back in. This means that when you are pulling on the shelf you need to use one hand to pull the shelf and the other to lift it off of the sliding rails so that you may extend or push in the shelf entirely. This may not seem like a big deal but it grows very tiresome very quickly, particularly when you are pushing the shelf in and out frequently. In addition to the jerky motion of the shelf, it makes a very loud and metallic racket while you slide it which can potentially be very problematic in a listening or recording situation. This can also be remedied by lifting the shelf, although only slightly as it is difficult to angle the shelf appropriately so that it does not catch on the screws at all. While this shelf is indeed the cheapest rack shelf you are likely to find, it is probably in your best interest to invest another $20 or so and find a shelf with a smoother sliding action and a greater shelf extension range, particularly if you plan on using it often.
