Red Strings

Add some warmth to your sound.

This is the first brand of copper/bronze acoustic guitar strings. These strings contain the highest copper content of any acoustic guitar string—more than 80/20, more than phosphor bronze. Red Strings provide precise articulation, louder sound, great projection, and a warmer richer tone from the moment you tune them up. There hasn't been a significant new material introduced for acoustic guitar strings in 35 years... until now!

Features

Try the strings with the largest copper content.

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Extra Light:

I tried these on my Martin GPCPA4 Rosewood and they really sound deep, rich, full. I however went back to Martin Lifespan strings. They would be a perfect string for a guitar where more bass is needed. They play nicely and feel pretty good to the fingers. I would say try them for yourself. You may like them.

    Not Quite

    By PGermain

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Extra Light:

Overall me and a friend tried and tested these and we were not impressed at all and both had buzzes at the low strings and we both play high end guitars. I broke the g string after a month and it was almost a blessing so that I could change them for another brighter sounding brand.
The look? They are reddish ? That's about all feature wise.
Quality is only fair- they had quite a buzz in the lower strings and mellow dull sound not brite at all but was expected after reading their sales pitch.
Lasted a month so nothing to write home about

Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Extra Light

    By Guy Robinson

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Extra Light:

If you have an overbraced or plywood guitar that just doesn't ring your bell, try these strings. I worked on a friends guitar and he just thought I was wasting my time. I made him a bone saddle and a bone nut and put these strings on and that's the only guitar he reaches for. These strings are excellent. However, I have a nice Guild dreadnaught and it sounds real nice with phosphor bronze strings. I decided to put these Copper Bronze strings on it and see what it did for it. To my surprise it turned my excellent Guild into a mud machine. No treble at all and chords definitely not for my Guild. I would recommend them to anyone with an overbraced or plywood guitar. They are excellent!

A great departure from the norm

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Extra Light:

These strings are excellent, and may become my go-to strings going forward. As is well documented, the three bass strings are copper wound, as opposed to the conventional phosphor/bronze and the like. The story with phosphor/bronze strings is always seemingly the same. When you open them up and put them on, they are super bright, tinny, chimey, almost quacky in some cases. Then, as the oxidation process progresses, they mellow out. Then, lastly, lose all clarity and just sound muddy. Then you slap another set on. There's a narrow window between too bright with good clarity and too mellow with no clarity during the lifespan. With the Red strings, they have a much rounder timbre right out of the pack. I would go so far as to call it percussive, which is great for volume and clarity alike. It adds a bit off drama when plucked loudly. I've not used a set that sounded so good right off the bat. What really impressed me even more than the bass copper strings was the B string. I've never played a better one. It is a little thicker gauge than what I'm used to but the sound is glorious. In my experience, it's been the weakest sounding string with most of the sets of strings I've bought. The Red one has so much more presence, and it's not tinny at all, which makes the inner voices stand out. It's often the interval between the top two notes of a chord that gives it its character. To expand on the gauge seeming larger, this is true for all strings. My Extra Light set feels a lot more like a Medium set by Martin's standards. It's not offputting, just not quite what I expected. Overall, they are pretty groundbreaking in my quest for great strings. I will definitely buy them again, and would suggest to any acoustic player to at least try them once. They are phenomenal for fingerstyle.

These sound ok, and look pretty cool, but I found they hurt, and weren't REALLY that different from normal strings, I switched back to Elixir 11's

    Red Strings Light Gauge

    By XP

    from California

Comments about Red Strings Copper Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - Extra Light:

I just installed my first set of Red Brand strings light gauge on a Fender acoustic. I immediately noticed the volume and clarity! I found that I could control it quite easily with my finger picking attack. Not sure what they are like with picks or if they wear out quickly. I suspect that they will. The quality of construction is immediately visible. These are pricey though! Give them a try!
