It may be prematurely, but I rated this pad a 10 overall. I just got this a few weeks ago to experiment with a Pulse Percussion Red Hots DR-1 Drum Trigger. A band mate of mine has a Roland Drum module with an Alesis set and the triggers were going out along with the mesh heads. Anyways, I hooked up the trigger, connected to The Module and so far, works great, fire every time. He was impressed enough that he ordered 5 more Remo 10" practice heads along with the Pulse Red Hot triggers. Also, it appears that any 10" drum head will work if you ever need to replace the original "practice pad" heads (there is an approx. 1/4" foam pad inside along with another drum head disc cut to fit between foam and drum head for extra durability). For now, saves quite a bit of money and hopefully will do the job when it's time to record drum tracks again.

Comments about Remo Practice Pad:

I bought this practice pad for school and it has a nice sound for a practice pad. I've used it for two years now and it is still in good condition. I recommend this for beginners.

Comments about Remo Practice Pad:

I bought this pad when i first started drumming 2 years ago. When I first bought it I thought that it was really awesome, but when I used it, it was way too loud, and when you play hard on it it starts spinning and doing some weird flips. I recommend the Vater Double sided pad 10 times more than this.

Remo Tuneable Practice Pads

By R. Kenny

from presently Ontario, Canada

Comments about Remo Practice Pad:

I first came across the Remo Products in the late 1950's. Have several different sizes of these pads and have found them quite satisfactory for tensioning, response, and tone. To quiet them down, if need be. try surfacing with gum-type rubber (cut it to fit). There are many types of drum pads to make or purchase - which I've also done, but REMO pads are definitely my favorite. When I teach, I always use the Remo Tuneable Pad because of the "cleaness" of the sound.

      Comments about Remo Practice Pad:

I bought Remo pads back in the 70's, they and Ludwig were the best pads around and this pad style was the only tun-able that used a real drum head around and the quality was great. The plastic parts now might need to be made with a new kind of die. Watch tuning this up very much as the screws might not align up and you might need thin washers to keep them from falling thought the plastic holes. Hope you get a good one!

      Won't Work on...

      By JD-zykoJ

      Comments about Remo Practice Pad:

Where it says it will work on "most cymbals stands", it's not true. Thread in most cymbals does not reach the top, therefore there's no way to thread the Pad to "most cymbals". In fact it requires a special, REMO stand, which is listed on a leaflet inside the box.But if you can live with that - as I did - you'll find this Pad puts all others around to shame. I own a Pearl practice pad and a rubber "snare head" pad, and the REMO beats them hands down, it's extremely good. Too bad the promotional literature is NOT accurate regarding the "cymbal stands" department.
