I'd been eyeballing this chair for more than a year, just didn't buy it because I'd just bought a Carmichael Throne a couple of years earlier, and was trying to get some mileage out of it. But even though The Carmichael was supposed to be good for the prostrate, I didn't have prostrate troubles. I had back troubles. Finally, after quibbling about it for another 6 months, and letting some of the other reviews deter me, such as a squeaky noise (that I thought some graphite oil or W4D would cure anyway), I went ahead and bought the Nitro Rock N Sock. I haven't had an ounce of back pain since I bought it! I like the "give" it offers in its hydraulics, and the seat itself also offers some give in its comfortable cushion. I have yet to walk up the stairs with severe neck and back pain, like I did with the other 2 stools. And if it did squeak (which it hasn't so far) -- I'd rather have a squeak you can oil, than back pain any day. I just wished I would've bought it sooner. But now I know! (And another reason I decided to just go ahead and get it, is because, if the hydraulic lift ever wears out, the seat is compatible with the Carmichael legs!) Definitely the nicest chair I've ever sat on -- and I sit for 4-5 hours at a time!

I like everything about this throne but it's not for me. Unfortunately, it wasted my back in less than a month. I could not get comfortable and I really tried. I started to get really bad lower back pain and I'm now on my 5th chiropractor appt to ease the pain. For me, it was impossible to find a sweet spot. With a round throne you can kind of go where you need to be. With a tractor style seat you are in a set position. Also the leg cutouts are non-existent so if you sit high it's hard for your knees to be lower than your hips. With the ridge in the back, you better like where you're sitting because there's nowhere to move. A highly rated best seller and it will probably work for 90% of the players out there but there is a small percentage of drummers that this throne, or this style of throne, won't work for. And if you're squirming around trying to get comfortable, you can do some damage. Just take a bit of time in the shop and make sure it will work for you. If not, keep your receipt.

Nitro Throne (A great Choice)

By Chad Carpenter

from Frisco TX

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

I have tried many thrones over the years and this throne is so comfortable and very easy to use and put together. It is also quick to set up.
This is the second one I have purchased to add to another set up at another location. The other throne is still going strong 10 years later.
Compared to other high end thrones I think this throne is priced very competitive.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

I bought this throne for competition benchrest shooting. It is very compfortable. I have sat in it for several hours at a time while practicing with no problems whatsoever.
It assembles and disassembles easily and quickly, the removable seat and stand stores behind the seat of my pickup. The knobs do not have to be very tight, only snug and nothing slips. it holds its setting exactly, this is critical looking thru a high powered scope.
If it were to suddenly dissappear, I would buy another one just like it
Removable very comfortable seat. Heavy chrome stand. height adjustment is super easy.
Everything about it is quality, I am well satisfied
What can I say, everything today seems a little overpriced. The old adage "you get what you pay for" rings true with this seat.

Buy the best, cry once!

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

Happy! Like someone said; Buy the best, cry once.
Love the red cloth. Love the sturdy base. Love the hydraulic lift and the bounce it gives you. And I LOVE the fact that the top is removable now. Now I can pack the throne up into my flight case with no issues! I've been using a squeaky old Tama First Chair with NO give for far too long!
Everything on there is extremely well put together. From the stitching on the top and bottom of the seat to the rubber feet on the bottom, this thing is brutal!
It seems pricy, but it's well worth it.

            Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

When I first bought my drum set, I bought a cheap throne, thinking what difference would a throne make. Well let me tell you that cheap thing about killed every part of my body. So I started looking for a better one, reading all the reviews on every different brand and I chose this one. I couldn't believe how expensive good thrones are, but if your going to stick with drumming, just go for it. It will be one of the best investments you make.

I was also worried about the bicycle seat style being in the way or something, but after using it, I like it a lot better than the round style. It does not get in the way and I think it actually helps my leg movement.

I just recently bought this throne to use for my church drums. I saw more improvement in my druming since i was more comfortable. The lever adjustment is super great in case you end up playing with other drummers, anyone can quickly adjust with no problem! I strongly recomend this throne if you have the money! GREAT INVESTMENT!!!

                Roc-N-Soc Nitro Throne Review

                By Andrew Martin

                from Maine

                Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

This Drum Throne offers what every drummer is looking for, durability, comfort, and great looks. Yeah, I know the last comment seems a far stretch but it goes without saying it really is a good looking throne. The materials used say "Rock and Roll!" and these materials just don't wear out. As for the durability, this throne has outlasted any throne I have ever purchased. I have been through 5 thrones until now. I have owned my Nitro throne for 8 years playing with a band that plays out 3 weekends a month every month. Set up..tear down...set up tear down. This throne just keeps up and not one part has failed or stripped out. I highly recommend this throne to any drummer that is working or non-working. This will be the last throne you will ever have to purchase.
The foam seat with stitched leather and plush cloth come in your choice of red or black. Not to mention with these features comes added comfort free of charge. The Nitro cylinder for raising or lowering the throne is a fantastic feature and is easy to operate with just a pull on the lever conveniently located under the right side of the cushion. This feature also gives you just that little bit of "Air Ride" suspension that is perfect for the drummer that needs that little bit of give when laying it down phat.
This throne is by far the most durable throne I have ever played on. Not one part of this throne has been damaged. I have been on the road for 8 years setting up and tearing down and this throne has outlasted all of my other equipment.
The value of this throne is well worth every penny spent. It seems at first a bit much for something that you would not think is added value to your overall investment like new shiny cymbals or new drum heads but this throne is an added feature to anyones kit.

                Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

I have owned two of these thrones for five years, and I have never sat on a more comfortable drummers throne. The nitro shock adds a bit of sponge feeling which is quite nice. Other reviews have said that you have to leave the seat on when transporting, but I have a suggestion for that; I velcro a wrench on the bottom of the seat so the wrench is always handy, and it only takes me 15 seconds to loosen the two nuts and the seat comes off. I put the drum seat on top of my snare drum inside a 15" floor tom case, and the throne base inside my hardware case, and this makes for easy transport.

                A no-brainer - GET IT!!!

                By Squienigma

                from Kona, HI

                Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

I just got this seat, and LOVE it. I had asked for the chair without the nitro shock absorbers because I was unsure about whether or not I would like it, but I'm very happy I got this one instead. The shock feature totally exceeded my expectations- I thought playing in the chair was going to feel very bouncy, but once you sit in it, the shocks don't lift until you get up. I also like that the height of the chair can be adjusted instantly while you're sitting in it with the gas lift lever. No more getting up, adjusting, and then trying it out and adjusting again- now you can feel if the height is right as you adjust and get it perfect the first time!! AND you have unlimited freedom as far as the specific height you want, unlike thrones that use the old peg-in-the-hole adjustment with holes than can be more than a couple inches apart. The seat goes higher and lower than anyone would ever need it to, so there's no need to worry about whether its height range will be suitable for you. I got mine in red; the color is very nice and the fabric is very soft. The legs are extremely heavy and sturdy so you can rest assured that you won't be rocking around at all. Even for larger people, the seat is large enough to hold and support your entire bottom, and the raised ridge in the back provides excellent lower back support. This throne was also easier to assemble than any other I've put together. Just put the seat on the shaft and screw in the two bolts with the provided tool. That's it. The leg cutaway sections in the tractor seat design also give your legs more freedom and feel much more comfortable than round seats, and the remarkable amount of softness and give allow you to sit in it for hours without any soreness. If you're looking for a new drum throne, I would absolutely recommend this one over any other. No questions asked. GET IT!!!

                The Good And Bad

                Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

This seat is all kinds of comfy, and for a full-grown adult, it's fairly easy to adjust. That said, I needed a top-quality, easily adjustable seat for my drum lessons, and this seat fails in two spots:
                1. It's maximum height is about 4" shy of what a normal seat reaches, and that makes it worthless for us tall folks that like to sit up high (they do sell an extended height version, but then it won't go low enough for the kids).
                2. Kids don't weigh enough to be able to adjust it on their own. The hydraulics require someone probably over 130lbs to push it down.

                  Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

I've been using my Roc N Soc for the last 20 years. It makes a huge difference if you are comfortable when you're playing. My back and butt are trashed after an hour sitting on anything else. Do yourself a favor..buy it..I promise you..you won't regret it..

                    Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

This is exactly what I have been hoping for and expecting from this top brand. Played for many years with a "standard" tama throne and with many of hours of practice a day, it was very uncomfortable. This costs a pretty penny, but WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

                      Comments about ROC-N-SOC Nitro Throne:

I have been using a very nice Tama chair for around 15 years, and my butt has paid for it. I'm a grown up now so I decided it was time to invest in the right throne and thats what this is. The right throne. Its what imagine high society feels like. Its worth every penny. I considered the Pork Pie especially because of the great reviews cool looks and I prefer the height adjustment system more however I went ahead and rolled the dice with this one instead. I based my decision on the fact that I'm a smaller guy and the pork pie seems designed more for bigger guys. Bottom line cant imagine it getting better, havent even thought about getting the additional back dont need it. No regrets.

This is my second Nitro Throne purchase for my second kit. The first one is still in service after 4 years and feels just like the day a bought it. It's true what they say about that it helps your back and legs. Great investment!
