I have sat in many a stool in my day. With my bony butt these stools are amazing. I own both the short and tall versions of these stools.

I am 6'1", and with the tall stool, the ball of my foot rests on the floor. With the short one, my feet rest flat with my knees almost at a right angle. The only difference between the two heights is the amount of leg after the bottom rung. All the other measurements are identical (I measured).

Since the bottom rung is at a great spacing to rest your feet, you can't really go wrong with either height. The seat is cushion is almost 4" thick, so you would likely want to measure to fit it under a desk.

This is a fine, well-made, comfortable stool, it's great for gigging, BUT! If you plan to sit on it while recording this IS NOT the stool you want. In time it will develop penetrating metallic squeaks which really aren't all that loud, but WHOA, your microphone will really pick them up! Of course you can retighten the screws but you won't be able to completely eliminate the problem. If you're a classical guitarist maybe you sit very still and it won't be an issue. But if you move around...

I have several of the stools with big brands on them (Gibson / fender) and they are uncomfortable to sit on. These are much higher quality and are great to sit on.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

Many years ago, I sat on a Roc-N-Soc drum throne and was totally impressed with the comfort and quality. When it came time to buy a throne for my own drum set, the choice was easy. I also purchased the accessory back and I couldn't be more pleased.

When I went looking for a chair for guitar, I came across this Roc-N-Soc stool and bought it too. To be brief, I now own 4 of these stools (both short & tall) for the musicians in my jazz combo. Everybody loves these stools and we can sit on them in comfort and play for hours at a time. Probably the best place to put your seat there is!

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

Well constructed, solid, and comfortable. This gets me up out of a chair, and playing at a more proper level, improving my posture and breath for singing. I can play with a strap again! (Leg issues, can't stand through an entire set anymore.) LOVE the saddle seat!!! If I close my eyes and pretend real hard, it's like playing while riding my motorcycle.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

A nice alternative to the round stool. The saddle design keeps the legs from going to sleep due to the blood circulation being cut off as with a round stool. Seat is thickly padded and supports even us larger musicians. Taller musicians may want to try the taller seat. Those under 6 ft. may want to opt for the shorter seat. either way you'll get a great stool that comfortable to use and is guiet enough for the studio.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

At 51 I've finally decided to get serious about learning to play guitar. That means lots of hours of practice. I'd been using a folding chair for my practice sessions but the position was wrong making it difficult to keep the guitar in position. Then I switched to a kitchen stool which put me in a better position, but the thinly padded seat quickly became uncomfortable.

Then I saw this product and decided to bite the bullet and put some money into a proper guitar stool. This thing is great for long practices. With 2 foot rings you can find a comfortable position that will allow you to lock the guitar in a steady position The shaped padded seat is great and I never have to end a session because my tail hurts any more. I can do a 2 hour session and remain comfortable. I am 6' tall and the short model is close to perfect for me. If anything, its an inch or so too tall. Unless you are REALLY tall the short model is probably your best bet but you could always cut the legs down if needed.

All in all, a guitar stool is not something a lot of guitarists think about but face it if you are going to learn to play you're gonna be spending a lot of time on one so its worth the investment to get a good one and this is the best by far.
Rotating, sculpted padded seat, 2 foot rings choice of short or tall model (short is good for me at 5'11")
            Very sturdy, high quality materials.
I think this will last longer than the "bar type" stools with music company logos you see at lots of guitar stores. Its also more comfortable since the padding doesn't crush so you can feel the frame like on the guitar logo stools.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

I purchased the stool for instrument practice. I sit all day in chairs that are too low (I'm 6'5") and uncomfortable. I have been pleased with the height of the stool (the small model), its stability, and padding that is just right. It comes ready to use. Even though I am able to assemble most things I get it was nice to not have to break out the tools. Great product.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

Overall an excellent stool for playing guitar while seated. It is well made, solid and other than the goofy "Roc-n-Soc" logo on the seat cushion, it's a decent looking stool. Right now I'm just using it at home for practice. It is pretty bulky for hauling around for gigs, unless you have plenty of cargo room in your vehicle. I have the shorter version (I'm 5'6" and about 180 lbs) and it seems to be the right size for me. For the price I don't think this stool can be beat. The seat is very comfortable and well cushioned. The leg rests are well placed to allow a comfortable leg position for resting the guitar, though I find I need to take a break and stretch my legs periodically as having your leg(s) bent at this angle tends to cut off the circulation after a while. But, I would not fault the stool for that. I wish it came with the back rest. It is available separately. Though I think the back rest is a bit overpriced I will probably end up purchasing it.

I received the stool - "short" version. Delivered in perfect condition. I am about 6 ft and found the short stool is at very comfortable height. Contoured padded saddle makes practicing much easier on the back. Seat rotates. Sturdy construction, comes fully assembled (no assembly required). Great qulaity product.
