At 51 I've finally decided to get serious about learning to play guitar. That means lots of hours of practice. I'd been using a folding chair for my practice sessions but the position was wrong making it difficult to keep the guitar in position. Then I switched to a kitchen stool which put me in a better position, but the thinly padded seat quickly became uncomfortable.

Then I saw this product and decided to bite the bullet and put some money into a proper guitar stool. This thing is great for long practices. With 2 foot rings you can find a comfortable position that will allow you to lock the guitar in a steady position The shaped padded seat is great and I never have to end a session because my tail hurts any more. I can do a 2 hour session and remain comfortable. I am 6' tall and the short model is close to perfect for me. If anything, its an inch or so too tall. Unless you are REALLY tall the short model is probably your best bet but you could always cut the legs down if needed.

All in all, a guitar stool is not something a lot of guitarists think about but face it if you are going to learn to play you're gonna be spending a lot of time on one so its worth the investment to get a good one and this is the best by far.
Rotating, sculpted padded seat, 2 foot rings choice of short or tall model (short is good for me at 5'11")
      Very sturdy, high quality materials.
I think this will last longer than the "bar type" stools with music company logos you see at lots of guitar stores. Its also more comfortable since the padding doesn't crush so you can feel the frame like on the guitar logo stools.

This is a fine, well-made, comfortable stool, it's great for gigging, BUT! If you plan to sit on it while recording this IS NOT the stool you want. In time it will develop penetrating metallic squeaks which really aren't all that loud, but WHOA, your microphone will really pick them up! Of course you can retighten the screws but you won't be able to completely eliminate the problem. If you're a classical guitarist maybe you sit very still and it won't be an issue. But if you move around...

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

Got the short stool and it is still too tall to work well with reaching floor effects! I'm 6 foot tall so I'm reasonably average and it is not easy to reach foot pedals while sitting on it. Should be about two inches lower. Doesn't sound like a lot, however it does make a large difference in reaching your pedals! It's OK, however, only OK.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

Nice and comfortable, Better than the card table chair I was using. It was what I expected in design and utility. However, the stool was obviously a floor model or otherwise used, although advertised as new. This is not a knock on the stool, but Musician's Friend is no longer a "friend" of mine. This is the kind of thing that you don't fight them on, you just walk away from them.

Alright, I've had this seat for a few months now and I will tell you this... It's very comfortable and the short selection sits at the perfect height for you to use your pedals. I could sit down about three hours straight of jamming and still be comfortable. If you want a quality seat, get this.

I have several of the stools with big brands on them (Gibson / fender) and they are uncomfortable to sit on. These are much higher quality and are great to sit on.

Comments about ROC-N-SOC Tower Saddle Seat Stool:

well kidz....I purchased this stool for one specific purpose...to sit on at a comfortable height for extended periods of time...I use it for my job....I am the coded wire tag project leader at a very large production fish hatchery...what this entails is placing a 1mm by 1/2mm stainless steel bit of metal in the snout of pacific salmon using a very cool machine that was designed for that purpose...each tag is injected (placed) by hand ..one at a time by the tagger...(me)..this year we will do ~800,000 tags by next fall...to do this quickly and efficiently I sit...now I sit on a great stool at the perfect height...the padded part is quite comfortable, as sitting for 1-2 hrs. at a stretch can be very rough..the bottom rung is the perfect height for me to sit at without blood clots forming in my legs....all in all this IS the perfect arraignment for me...and the cost is well worth it.....
I also will use this when I play out in the future..(that is if I am able to walk later).....but for now its perfect..not exactly what you were expecting for a review I suppose...but I can recommend this unit for ALL your sitting needs that require sitting for period of time in moderate comfort....at a comfortable height...but with a specific purpose in mind..........

Appears sturdy so far. Expensive for what you get. Hope imitation leather holds up. If you're looking to use it as a guitar seat, definately order the short one of the two! The short one is still a little tall to touch pedals easily and I'm 6 ft tall. I like it, and it's comfortable. Just a little tall and very lightweight which I hope is OK from a durability standpoint. Just got it, so........
