Comments about SIT Strings GB1252 Golden Bronze 80/20 Light Strings:

This is an update to my previous review where I had purchased 3 sets of SIT GB1252 strings and received sets that were rusted. I had written S.I.T. explaining the string issue and within 48 hours received an email back from Joe Husak, Accounts Rep and Customer Service, The Stay-In-Tune String Company. He wrote 'Very sorry to hear about this! It's hard to tell why that happened, but we want to make sure you get what you paid for. Please forward me your confirmation/receipt from Musician's Friend and we'll send you out some fresh replacement sets.' Joe also offered '…to included in the package a sample set of our new CRT (Corrosion Resistant Technology) Phosphor Bronze acoustic strings for you to try.' Now that is true customer service and I appreciate S.I.T. standing by their products and going the extra mile to satisfy their customers.

Comments about SIT Strings GB1252 Golden Bronze 80/20 Light Strings:

Purchased 3 sets at blow out pricing in June 2015 and thought I was getting a good deal. Have used these exact strings before with great results, but this time I got burned and didn't even know it. Now jump to today, November 12 2015, and I went to install a set then found all strings had rust & corrosion. Open the other two sets, same thing. Just wasted my money and doubtful I would never buy or recommend S.I.T. strings again. Since I keep all of my electric and acoustic stings in the same location, and none of my other string sets have ever exhibit this issue (over 45 years of playing guitar), I can only surmise that they arrived this way. Reading the review below, I see others have experience the same issue. Had I opened these the day they arrived, I am certain MF would have taken care of me. But after six-months, they just told me they couldn't do anything. Have sent S.I.T. an email for possible resolution under their "Guarantee". Will see if they will replace and I will update this review with their response.

Comments about SIT Strings GB1252 Golden Bronze 80/20 Light Strings:

1st off, Musicians Friend has GREAT costumer service. Might be the best in the music retail biz. Thank you MF for doign the right thing. I am a full-time working musician that bought these strings as a fill in. I play so much and I'm so rough on guitar strings that they last a gig and then i have to change them. That's a fact. I did buy these on special from MF because i had used SIT strings before (they used to string them on G&L guitars awhile back) and i liked them. The price was right on a 1/2 dozen sets so i bought em. Wrong move! These strings were VERY OLD STOCK. The plain strings were turning black from oxidation, sometimes they wouldn't tune and they certainly went dead way before the gig ended. Now, I couldn't tell you if a fresh set of the SIT strings would have made a difference, but I'll never know because i will never buy SIT again. Whomever MF was buying these strings on closeout from should really be ashamed of themselves for selling very old stock. MF completely did the right thing by me, but they were selling a completely inferior product on an unsuspecting public. I know it's only gtr strings and not the end of the world, but it's still a PITA.

          Great buy for the budget

Comments about SIT Strings GB1252 Golden Bronze 80/20 Light Strings:

Very pleased with these strings. Price, tone, and longevity do it for me.
It's not like they are coated or anything special but they do sound good.
I really don't have a lot to compare these two. I've basically only tried about 6 or 7 different brands of strings myself, so keep that in mind. But, I've tried Cleartone $16 coated strings and some other expensive ones and like these almost as good at first but like them better in the long run. They have a good warm tone and stay in tune after months of daily use.

I had started using the Musician's Friend strings because I thought they sounded really good for the price. But they need to be changed almost monthly and they don't sound near as good as these do.
The only way you can beat the price of thes is buying the Musician's Friend strings for a couple of bucks. These are only a dollar more right now. Can't complain about that at all.
