This is a very well-made case... mine was made for Rogue in Canada by TKL , showing superb TKL quality throughout. The Canadian origin is probably why this case costs more than the Chinese-made Musician's Friend cases; and the extra cost is well worth it. The inside of the case conforms to the body shape exactly, and the shell is plenty sturdy. As Hofner-type basses are famous for their easily-damaged neck-body joint, this case is a worthwhile investment. The Rogue instrument does appear to use a somewhat more robust construction than the Hofner originals... but I believe that any set-neck bass needs a rigid case. This case does the job in fine style.

I ordered this case for my Rogue violin bass. It was on back order for over 2 months. The case arrived in good shape, but when I opened it, whew....Whatta stench... decomp in the morgue is a far sweeter odure.....I don't know if the glue that hold the lining in is made from dead animals or what, but I can't get rid of the stink....I tried leaving the case open for a few days, spraying it with Febrize, using one of those pine scented things you hang on the mirror in your car....Nothing helps...It's enough to make you gag....The case is very good and appears to be quite durable...also lots of room for accessories, but that smell! I would have given this case 10 stars across the board, except for the unbelievable smell eminating from within.....gotta go barf now...Urrrrkkk...blaaaaaat.....blurrrrrp...

This case is a great buy! The seventy dollar price tag was steep for me when I got it, but my gig bag was dying fast, and I needed something to keep my Rogue VB-100 safe. My first response to this case was shock at it's size and weight. It could fit my custom 35" scale five string! When empty, it's also very top heavy. With the VB-100 in it, it lays relitively even. I used this case to bring my bass to Orlando, FL (by plane) and then back to Albany, NY (by plane). The case had no more than minor sratches and the bass inside was untouched. This case has provided great protection for my violin bass, and is worth every penny and more!
Hardshell case not as hard/thick as one would expect. However for the price it serves it's purpose. My Hofner Icon Series bass fits very snug in case. I have to apply pressure to the top half of the case in order to secure the latches. I would not use this case for an original high end Hofner model. I have the Hofner Icon Series Vintage Violin Bass.
I purchased this case a little over a year ago and so far it's performed well. My bass (no-name brand, made in Japan) fits snugly in it and the accessories compartment is good sized. I didn't have any problems with a bad odor. Only complaint so far is lack of padding and tiny amount of clearance between the bass and the top of the case. I always make sure it's either standing up or stacked on top if I'm transporting it somewhere.
This TKL case is adequately sturdy and the inside is nicely molded to fit Rogue the violin bass. Some reviewers have complained about smell. My case smelled fine, though I have had a problem with other TKL cases -- I find two or three sheets of fabric softener left in the closed case for a few days does the trick. Another reviewer complained about the top of the bass being too close to the case. Maybe there's more than one case floating around out there, because there's a good 3" between the top of the headstock and my case. The only real complaint I have is that the cost is high compared to the price of the bass, but, hey, if you want protection.....
The Rogue Violin bass guitar fits nice and tight into the case. The lining of the case (top and bottom) seems to protect the guitar very well and the flapped pouch is more than adequate to hold the strap and cord(s). The case arrived with 4 cosmetic 1/8 inch gouges in the vinal side covering. Other than the minor cosmetic issues, it seems to be a well constructed hard shell case that I would recommend, if own or plan to purchase the Rogue Violin Bass.
This case is really sturdy. When I got mine, it smelled kind of bad, but I let it sit out a couple of days and its fine now. I also wish it wasnt so big, a case the molds the bass would have been better. But all in all, it does what its supposed to do, protect your bass.
All in all, a quality case for a quality instrument. The bass fits in a little too tightly but that is the only real set back. It is the best protection currently available for the Rogue VB100 Series II bass guitar.
I appreciate getting a case made specifically for the Rogue Violin Bass, but the case has some shortcomings in its design. As in many cases, there is very little padding. Unfortunately, there is very little clearance between the top of the instrument and the top of the case. Hence, a force applied on the top of the case is likely to be transmitted to the instrument inside, possibly leading to a crushed violin bass. A molded plastic case would be a more desirable design, and could be made with a slight arch in the top, giving much more strength where it is needed. Such a case would also likely be lighter...an added benefit. Other than this, the case is OK. Just don't let a child sit on it or let anything of significant force press on the front.
I've had my Rogue Violin Bass Hardshell Case for about two years. So far, it is still intact, doesn't smell like decomposed flesh, provides protection for my Rogue VB-100 Bass. In my honest opinion, this case does what cases are supposed to do: protect the instrument along with whatever items are stashed inside (i.e., picks, cables, extra strings, etc.). I just wish that the prices of cases were lower, but considering that this is not 1972, I think that Rogue Violin Bass Hardshell Case is a quality product.I'm sorry that this review isn't as interesting as some of the others (some of which, I suspect might be fictitious).
Well obviously, Rogue is a value line of instruments. This case, however, is made by TKL and Rogue just puts their name on it. If you've got violin bass from Rogue you can't find a better a case for it. I bought one and it didn't even smell bad. The gig bags are very flimsy, if you are going anywhere with your bass, this case is the best way to protect, there ain't nothin' else.
