OVERVIEW

Don't pay too much for strings!

Gauge .008, Plain Steel - Acoustic or Electric

These are the same guitar strings Rogue uses in prepackaged retail sets. What's the difference? We package 12 strings of the same gauge in airtight vinyl bags with a packet of silica gel to protect against unwanted moisture, so they last longer than typical string sets. We also pack these bulk strings in big, loose coils to avoid compressing or stretching the windings, so they sound better than tightly coiled strings. Rogue Strings are made for us exclusively by a famous manufacturer, employing the finest materials and the latest manufacturing methods.

I've been buying these things in bulk now for about 13-14 years (been playing for 34 years). I went through every brand there was up until that point, and not only was the price on these far better than any of the others - they kept their tone for longer as well. I just laugh at folks who are spending $10+ a set on anything else... I play professionally at least 50 weekends a year 2-3 times a week, and with a little TLC (I wipe them down with WD-40 before, during & after each show), I only have to change them about 3-4 times a year on my main guitar. I might break only 1-2 per year, but they are seriously better than any Dean Markley, D'Addario, Fender, EB, Gibson or anything else I've ever used.

I heard through the grapevine that these things are actually manufactured by Martin - but it doesn't matter. I'll keep using them until they quit making them...

Comments about Rogue P8 Bulk 12 Pack 008 Plain Steel Electric Guitar Strings:

I've got a bunch of guitars and I use a bunch of strings. These are some of the strings I use. My current sets are 8-10-12-22-32-42. All of them are the Rogue brand 12 strings in a plastic bag with a small dessicant bag to keep them fresh. Per set, they're a little cheaper than the Musicians Gear .009 sets, but not nearly the amount of waste packaging. I may have broken a few over the years, but overall the quality has exceeded the performance of the Musicians Gear .009 packs that I used to use.

Comments about Rogue P8 Bulk 12 Pack 008 Plain Steel Electric Guitar Strings:

Some of my guitar students are young kids, both boys and girls.Part of my job is to make playing enjoyable for them, so I change their strings to the lightest I can. The less their fingers hurt when they are new to playing the better. The lighter the strings, the easier it is to play, which is very important when first starting to play guitar.

Comments about Rogue P8 Bulk 12 Pack 008 Plain Steel Electric Guitar Strings:

I have been buying Rogue strings in bulk for the last 20 yrs., now and for me it is the most economical way to keep my 200+ guitars properly stringed. I use the .008 for my 20 + electric and acoustic/electric guitars and they keep their tone a long time, the packs of 10-12 in a bag stay fresh and ready to use if needed. A great deal !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been using these strings for a long time and have had good luck with them. Saves money to buy in bulk. Just make sure you know what guage you really want because you will be stuck with them for a while. I've been interested in trying Billy Gibbons idea for using lighter strings and after some preliminary experiments I decided on .008, .010, .013, .026, .036, and .046. I tune down either a half or whole step and it's working pretty good. I do a lot of bending and it's better for my voice to tune down. Good Luck!

I would advise these strings over all others due to their quality and value.
Rogue makes the world's worst instruments, but their strings are the best quality.
As good as Martin strings at a fraction of the cost. Beats Dean Markley, D'Adderio and others.
                Can't beat the price.

Comments about Rogue P8 Bulk 12 Pack 008 Plain Steel Electric Guitar Strings:

I don't think these can be beat at this price. I don't think they could be beat even at double this price.
About 25 years ago, I used small gauge strings. At the time I played an Ibanez Musician, with a long 2 octave neck. When I traded for another Telecaster, I was getting deep into Stevie Ray Vaughan. Since he used BIG strings, I thought I'd go bigger. While I never got up to the gauges he used, I did get up to .010 Thick `n Thins. I played those for a few years, until they pulled the tremolo post on my Strat forward into the body! I scaled back to plain .010's, then .009's, and recently on to .008's.

I recently read an article about Billy Gibbons--he's using .007's! This man has one of the most copied tones in the business. He said B.B. King got him started using small gauge strings. They played a show together, & backstage they swapped guitars for a few songs. B.B. asked Billy why his Les Paul was strung so heavy, & his reply was "because that's what I always read YOU used". B.B. replied that he used to, "back when that was all you could get". He made a believer out of Billy, & he started going smaller, till now he endorses a set of .007's made (I think) by DiAddario.

If you've been using heavy strings, it will take a while for your guitar to adjust to the smaller gauge strings. I know I had to re-tweak my neck 3 different times over a month's time, but it now stays in tune & plays like a dream. I have diabetes, and I'm starting to have some neuropathy and tingling in my fingertips. My fingers, my hands get sore pretty easy these days. Yesterday, I wound up playing for almost 10 hours at a benefit, with no hand pain (although my back & feet were sore today)!

In the long run, it seems they hype about using big strings is just that-hype. Once you get your guitar adjusted to them, and you get used to not over-squeezing when you play (it's easy to bend strings out of tune until you lighten up your touch), there's really no reason I can see for putting the extra strain on me OR my guitar by using large gauge strings. Besides, how wrong can Billy Gibbons be?
These are well built strings No idea who builds them. At this price I can afford to change strings more often.
At this price, i can change strings 3 times as often at the same price I was paying for strings. I don't care what brand you currently play, brand new strings simply sound better. The value is these strings best feature.
