Very simple, buy the right part. This is the right part for your connection between the Gk pickup and the Gr or other Roland unit.

If you want to use a Roland guitar synth, you need a 13 pin cable. I have 3, only 1 works now. The options are limited, as it's a Roland Synth specific format. Not nice that they keep the price so high, or don't make them better to last. 1 came with the synth, bought one more for back up, then a long one for some shows. The two shorter ones now don't work. One broken one always sends a pitch change message, the other sends no single on the A string. The 30 foot still works, and it gets the most live show abuse, go figure. But the options are limited, time to buy a 10 footer for the studio, and a back up 20 footer for live. The show must go on, just love my sythn to much to give up, but can't stand paying this much for 'disposable cables'

Comments about Roland GKC 13-Pin Cable:

I thought I would save money by buying the cheap knockoff and 2 months later I noticed that the synth was triggering notes that I didn't play. I thought it was my settings or the synth at first until I jiggled the cable and it triggered notes on it own (short). Now I have the good cable and I noticed right away that the signal was solid and the midi had nano latency.

Bought this cause my old existing cable was making crackling sounds when I moved it. The new cable solved the problem with my GR55 and GK3B.

The cable does the job, for a while. Connects your guitar synth to the GR. Problem is (and this is in a climate controlled studio) I have had to replace it twice due to one of the pins going bad. Someone (mogami?) should build a gold plated roadworthy version of this cable.

Comments about Roland GKC 13-Pin Cable:

My GR 20 cable gave out after just 3 months of very gentle studio use. Thought it was the pin solder joints on the board where the connectors are soldered. Went through every solder joint with a powerful magnifier...both for the sound module and the pickup connector. No luck. Then through other reviews posted decided it must be the cable itself. A continuity check with a high quality meter revealed severe resistance issues in all six of the string connections and the ground. I've got the locking type connection terminations and believe they are the culprit. It torques the pins quite a bit when you have to press the locking button down and pull the cord loose. I've ordered a third party replacement to use that is non-locking and will be used with new GR 55 unit. Hope that fixes it. I've got an old Korg guitar synth that has a rectangular plug with metal housing...very tough... for the hexaphonic pickup and guess what...after almost 20 years it hasn't malfunctioned. I believe this is what Roland should emulate to correct this issue as it is widespread and definitely unsavory to the recording musician.

Comments about Roland GKC 13-Pin Cable:

I will agree these cables are expensive to purchase as for quality I have 2 and the only problems I have with the quality is they are not dog proof. Unfortunately my small dog has figured out how to shut the noise off (he thinks he has done a good deed until he sees I am not smiling). Anyway back to the quality of the cables in a 13 pin cable there are also 13 very fine wires (and after my pup used one of mine for a teething ring I could see just how fine the wires are) as they have to be fine to keep the overall size of the cable small consquently as fine as the wires are if they are stepped on, or things are set or dropped on them, also if they are bundled for storage or to transport with tight bends or stretched. They will eventually break. It's not a mater of poor quality as much as it is they are made light to keep the size and weight down & make them more flexable. They are more fragile than a regular guitar cord and need extra care in handling. I see some complaints about static and some strings not being picked up or playing for what it is worth on my guitar if each and every string is not in perfect tune it has lot of static or the string that is not in tune will not play. These cables might last longer if they are kept away from foot traffic, being stretched, and when coiled if they are coiled in a round coil of atleast 8 or 10 inches (the bigger the coils the better). On any cord the plugs usually cause most of the problems as the wires break where they enter the plug or inside the plug itself.

I love Roland products but these cables are poorly made. My A string went out with in a few months. I rarely play it too and take great care when using this. I hope Roland steps up or somebody with a better alternative.
