Santa has recently delivered to me a Casio CDP-100. It's roughly 25 lbs., 88 keys fully-weighted. I had an X-stand from my 61 key casio, which weighed about 8 lbs. The stand collapsed under the weight of the CDP-100 and my finger on one key.Friends have all agreed that their experiences with X stands just aren't positive (even the double bars don't add stability in the front-to-back direction). This Z stand is perfect for ANY keyboard of any size/weight. You could throw a heavy analog synth on this thing and it would feel like playing a grand piano on a marble floor.I use this on carpet, and between the long, wider feet on the ground and the thin foam layer between the top and the keyboard itself, it still has a solid feel to it. I can really hammer on the registers and feel the keyboard pushing back. I scored features at 4.5. The only complaint I have (and I would still buy the stand in light of this) is the height adjustment isn't easy. I may just need to get a feel for it, but you slide the legs up and tighten the screws. However, the screws are meant to feed into holes drilled in the legs to mark discrete intervals for adjustment. You can't see the holes, and I spend a bit of time trying to "feel" the screw into the hole. This stand will hold up your table for thanksgiving dinner. It's an incredible bargain for its quality and utility.

Comments about Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand - 88 Keys:

Better than an X stand because it gives you more knee room. Doesn't wobble and Its very solid and steady. Goes together easily. For a single tier stand, this is a great choice for studio or gigs.

Comments about Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand - 88 Keys:

This is a solid stand. It holds my 37.35 lb Kurzweil with ease. The rubber pads actually work quite well to hold the keyboard in position without any sliding around or movement. It works equally well sitting down or standing up and pounding the keys in a live performance.

Comments about Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand - 88 Keys:

I have owned/used many "X' type stands over the years. Thought I'd give this design a try. Very satisfied. Holds a 33 lb. keyboard very well and does not wobble during heavy use. Has more room for knees than the X-style stand.

While not difficult to assemble/disassemble, it is a little more trouble than an X-style stand and you end up with 3 pieces, when fully broken down. That might pose an issue for someone who travels to performance locations. But the trade off is that when fully folded up, it takes up less room than heavy duty X-stands.

Comments about Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand - 88 Keys:

The stand is prices reasonably, its solid. I just wish you could add a 2nd tier to this stand for a 25 or 49 key Novation or Akai.

Comments about Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand - 88 Keys:

This stand is very, very sturdy. It doesn't flex at all when pushed on with frontwards or downwards pressure. However, when the middle bar is fully extended (such as for an 88-key) is will wiggle very slightly when pushed on from the sides. The motion doesn't go very far (less then an inch unless pushed very hard) and is quick from side to side so it doesn't last long.

That aside, assembly was very easy and collapsing it for moving or storage is also very quick.

Comments about Roland KS-18Z Keyboard Stand - 88 Keys:

This stand is incredibly stable and well built. I read another review that said it wobbled a bit. This guy must have had it set up on a thick shag carpet. When set up on my wood floor, I can bang on my keyboard as hard as I want and I don't see any movement. My previous "X" style stand was like a trampoline. This one is super solid. Literally no movement even when fully extended to the widest setting. The screw knobs that come with the stand have built in rubber tips so you never have a metal on metal condition. The stand comes with rubber foam pads on top to keep your keyboard secure and not sliding around.

I was having a hard time finding a stand short enough for my somewhat thick keyboard, a Yamaha P155. This stand's lowest setting is 24" so that the tops of my keys end up at a perfect 28 1/8", the same a real Steinway Grand.

This is a very good stand for the price
