The title is from the lyrics of The Who Sell Out which hit the airwaves in the l;ate 60s. What is the sound of the Rotosound bass string. Listen to "I Can See For Miles" and you will get the idea. Much as the reviewer before I have use Rotosound round wound strings since the early 70s and have strayed only a few times and always have come right back. If you want volume, brightness, and roundness this is the ultimate string. Yes my '73 Jazz has grooves in the neck but this is the price we pay for the ultimate bass sound. ROTOSOUND STRINGS.

Rotosounds Do Not Eat Frets

By SMTP4ME

About Me Experienced

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

I've been playing bass for 35 years. Over that span of time I have used many different types, gauges, and brands of strings. In my experience, it is NOT true that Rotosounds eat frets:

I owned a Rickenbacker 4003 bass for 5 years, also owned an Ibanez bass for 28 years. I used Rotosounds on both. After 28 years, the Ibanez had very little fret wear, but after only 5 years, the Rickenbacker's frets were worn down. Since I used the same strings on both - it CANNOT POSSIBLY be the strings that caused wear on the Rick - it CAN ONLY be the fret wire used by Rickenbacker when they manufacture their basses. They obviously use softer fret wire than Ibanez.

My favorite strings

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

I have tried numerous manufacturer's bass strings, and these are my favorite. I play pizzicato, slap, and tap, and these strings sound great for each of these styles. They are nickel-plated steel, which is less wear on your frets and fingers compared with pure stainless strings, and keep their tone longer than stainless as well.

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

I picked up a set of Rotosound bass strings while I was at a guitar store. One of the employees there recommended them to me and, at my own risk, I bought a set. I cannot tell you how awesome these strings sound! As soon as I strung them on my bass and tuned them, I could not believe what was coming out of my amp! You will not be sorry. A great investment indeed! 5 stars!

Great Roundwound Strings....

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

I've used this set of Rotosound strings on my basses for over 25 years. The quality is always there. They can be hard on your frets but they have a unique sound on my MM Stingray bass that I really like. And another thing, they have gone up in price very little over the past 25 years. I'm not sure I'd ever switch to another brand!

Comments about Rotosound RN 66LD Nickel Swing Bass Strings:

Had these lying around from a 2 pack sale purchase. I slapped them on after breaking the G string of my Ernie Ball Cobalts. I was pleasantly surprised and amazed at the outstanding harmonics that rang out of my Music Man Stingray. Their clarity was simply superb and the sustain was nothing short of remarkable. I never expected these strings to sound as good as they did. They'll stand up against ANYTHING else on the market.
