I bought these strings for my Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V. When I put them on, they had SO much growl. It was crazy. That was a month ago, and they're still growlin' away. I'll probably use these for a few more months and go back to Fender 7250's. These strings sound really cool if you're looking to sound like Geddy Lee or John Entwistle, but I'm not so much.

Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
I bought these strings because I was looking for a better sound and let me tell you I am very impressed with them. I love the high end of them and yet you still get all the bottom end as well. I put these on a Schecter Stiletto Custom 5 string.

Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
They keep their brightness for a decent amount of time; then I boil them in water to get a few more gigs out of them or have extras on hand when a break one.
I have used Rotosound strings for all my basses through the years. The sound on my new 5-string is the same great growl and low end I love. The only tough deal is they wear down your frets if you play a lot, but worth the fret job for sound.
Best sound around.
I'm glad they're keeping the price down.
Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
The only thing that is not so plesent about these strings is the fact that they have a very course texture and are kind of like playing a hacksaw blade compaired to the Dean Markley's I was used to and take a wee bit of getting used to. But it only takes a couple of times of smoking those ole calluses and it will be OK! I suppose that texture is what makes them sound so good!
Sure they cost a little more but they are definetly worth it! From now on this is the only string for me.
They are strings! Not a whole lot in the way of features.
Make no mistake, they are very high quality strings but as far as quality or any other kind of 1 to 10 rating. I will never give a 10 because 10 would be bass strings in Heaven!
I give this an 8 because they are a little high but it's like anything. You get what you pay for. These are worth it!
Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
I've been playing Rotosound strings for 35 years and won't use any other. I bought a 5-string Bass for a back up and couldn't get the sound I wanted out of it. I had it professionally set up and strung with Brand x strings. Still no good sound.
I gave up on the new bass and was considering trading it but I decided to buy the Rotosound strings and try one more time.
Presto! Big fat sound, clear and strong. Now I love playing the 5-string because of the Rotosounds.
Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
The only reason I dont give them a 10 is because they are a little expensive and sometimes you get a bad batch. What I mean by bad batch is they dont last as long as they should. Some batches seem to be better than others sometimes.
As always most Rotosound strings sound fantastic. Hopefully these will last a while and not go dead after a few uses. They are just what the Doctor ordered especially if you play a passive P or Jazz bass.
Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
The strings are great, I love the tonal quality. My only complaint is that the low B string at the end where the red thread is has been eliminated, so I had to put a small rectangle from a business card in the nut to compenstate for the lack of thinkness of the thread. I hope Rotosound is not going to go cheap on us. My B string was way to low and hit the frets and got a lot of buzz, etc. This trick worked but I liked it better when they had the extra red string at the end of the B string. C'mon Rotosound, quality first.
However, although they don't look as cool on my bass with a piece of business card, it still plays and sounds great. I will keep buying the strings but hope they don't do anymore of this crap.

I've used these strings on my 5 string for about 5 or 6 months now and they still sound amazing and have a great tone!
Comments about Rotosound RS665LD Roundwound 5-String Bass Strings:
in 76 i heard leon from climbadonkey ravens etc practicing for the nights gig in oc md i said i have a pbass too but it doesnt sound like that he turned me on to the unmistakable rotosound sound if you want the super bright sound change them every couple of gigs if you play most types of music leave them on until they get dents in the g string always my favorites for a lighter string the 40-125 are also good
