Comments about Rotosound RS66LC Long Scale Swing Bass Strings:

I have been playing bass for over 30 years and have toured extensively. I have played a 1977 Rickenbacker 4001 for almost all of those years. When I was a novice, I tried all different brands of strings finally settling on Rotosound because they are the best. I won't use anything else. They stay fresher longer than any other brand and have incredible tone. And a good trick with Rotosounds, when they start to sound a little dead, take the strings off the bass, clean them with paper towels and a little multi-surface cleaner spray, and once dry, restring your bass with them. They will sound almost like new. Good for one time replacement at no charge.

Comments about Rotosound RS66LC Long Scale Swing Bass Strings:

I used to use Rotosound bass strings all the time years ago. Like a lot of people I try new strings here and there. Recently I tried a set of these again after many years on one of my jazz basses. Comparing these to Ernie Ball Extra Slinky bass strings which were on that bass in the same gauge I find the Rotosound bass strings a bit more articulate and the "E" string a bit stronger than the Extra Slinkys. They also cut through the band mix a bit better and the tone is a bit more rock if you will. .The feel of the Rotosound's seem a bit rougher to the touch to my feel. Overall I like these a bit better than the Extra Slinkys and feel the difference is worth a bit more for the Rotosound strings. They last about the same as the Extra Slinky's but when these loose that new string ring they don't go as dead as the Extra Slinkys. These last about three weeks of hard playing even with wiping down the strings. Of course I like the fresh string sound so I may be changing my string more than others feel necessary.

Comments about Rotosound RS66LC Long Scale Swing Bass Strings:

Tone of the greats (Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Billy Sheehan, and more) lies within these strings. I play everything from art-rock (Rush, Yes, ELP) to jazz and fusion (Coltrane, Bruford, Brand X) and classical and these are great for everything.

They start with a bright overtone quality, great for a punchy, cutting bass (you almost need to compensate for added treble). They then mellow with your playing, but still retain a great roundwound quality.

Overall very focused, mid-rich, piano-esque tone.

            Best Strings Out There

            By Parker-NYlb3

Comments about Rotosound RS66LC Long Scale Swing Bass Strings:

I bought a set of rotos just about 3 months ago thinking "hey, I haven't tried these yet" and I found out that some of the greatest bassists have used these, so I went and bought a set within a week. Before I bought these I was using D'Adarrio EXL 170's because they had a great sound, but they didn't last more than 2 weeks for me. The greatest thing I like about these strings is the fact that they have the same tone as the EXL's but they also last 5x longer. And yes, they may be steel wound, but they are by far the softest steel strings that I have ever played. These things were made by the best to suit anyone and everyone. Buy these, you'll never use anything else!

            great strings

Comments about Rotosound RS66LC Long Scale Swing Bass Strings:

I play a Rickenbacker 4003 through a dual ampeg setup. as many know, it is tough to get clean lows on the ric ...i also has some neck problems that needed to be dealt with. well, short end of the story: these strings are clear across the entire register, and very easy on the neck due to a lighter gauge. if you like low tension strings (i.e. great 'spongy' feel), these are for you. i liken them to roundwound thomastiks. so clear that even my guitarist noticed the difference ...
