OVERVIEW

The 'Black Nylon Tru Bass' Strings were originally developed to simulate a double bass sound on an electric bass. These RotoSound strings made their most famous appearance on top of the 'Apple' building while Paul McCartney was playing his Hofner bass. These string's are so sweet. My first set went on my Gene Simmons Axe bass. Then I put a set on my Rickenbacker 4003 bass, even better. I just had the new set put on. They lasted me on my Rickenbacker for over 1 and 1/2 years. Very easy to clean. For those who are going to try these for the first time, make sure to "Cut the Nut" on your bass, for the strings are thicker and need to sit farther down in the nut. And Musicians Friend recently reduced the price on these.

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

Put these on Ibanez acoustic bass and they feel very nice. Used alotta different strings on this bass before and never satisfied but now I am. With onboard e/q I can dial back the bottom for more definition. No screechiness, more fundamental bass tone. After putting on the E and A didn't seem to intone and tune right so I did take a sharp carpet knife and carefully cut the nut slots a little wider not deeper and now they've settled in. Theres less tension on these so even though theyre larger theyre still easy to play. Another reason I didn't put these on any of my other basses is because they don't ground to the bridge like regular strings due to the nylon wrap. Apparantly others use them anyway on their Fender style basses but to me that's an issue. So I do like these but for my acoustic only. Thomastik Infeld jazz flats may be better for this bass or others with no grounding issues but theyre a different more middy tone , not nylon and cost nearly 3 times more so tone wise and feel wise I am happier with these Rotosound Trubass black nylons.

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

On my 5 string Michael Kelly acoustic/electric bass these strings give me more of the upright bass type of sound I want.
                Very easy on the fingers.
The down side is the price. I have a set of Fender nylon coated round wounds on an Ibanez acoustic/electric which cost 1/2 as much, have good sound and are almost as easy on the fingers.

These strings feel great and sound closer to an Upright Bass.
I put these on my Takamine 512 and love the way they sound and feel. Hardly any volume decrease over the bronze strings, they were louder than I expected. Only problem I had was drilling out the hole a little to fit the E string.

                Buyer Beware...

Comments about Rotosound RS88LD Trubass Black Nylon Flatwound Bass Strings:

The Trubass Bass Strings have a nice feel and warm sound.
The problem is the heavier guage of the strings.
I put the strings on my Squire Jazz Bass and discovered that the E string did not fit into the nut. When I brought up this problem at a local music store, I was advised to use a lighter gauge set of strings because the heavier gauge strings could cause a bowing of the neck due to the heavier tension.
Buyer beware. My advice is to speak with a qualified luthier and follow his or her recommendations.
The price of the strings is a bit steep.

I put these strings on my gene simmons axe guitar and what a sweet sound they make. I will be making these my regular strings on my other guitars as well.
