Overall, I think these will help build and maintain my finger calluses. There are times when I travel when I can't get practice time in, or cannot pack a guitar. The caps and Gripmaster will suffice to maintain finger strength and calluses during those times.
Pretty simple, these are caps that snap over the grip on the GripMaster exerciser tool. Installation is easy, no instructions required.
The caps look like injection molded material, tight fitting to the GripMaster exerciser. The surface where the fingers press down have 3 molded lines on top, striated to be like wound guitar strings. Okay, I thought my calluses were already pretty well developed but a single day of squeezing the exercise tool with the Callus Builder Caps taught me I had a ways to go. I probably did about 10 to maybe 15 minutes total time in about 5 to 7 sessions, couple of minutes each time give or take. My finger tips ache, and already I can see a difference. Can't imagine what these calluses will be like in a week of steady use. These caps WORK!
Fair enough I suppose. The 4 caps do indeed do what they're intended for so I guess the value is good, but honestly on a material cost basis they'd be fairly inexpensive.

You're joking right? This thing is pathetic. If you want calluses, you get them by playing your guitar endlessly. While you're using this thing, you could be building REAL calluses, playing your guitar. Instead, you're neglecting your guitar! DON'T NEGLECT YOUR GUITAR.

Fits GRIPMASTER but not Gripmaster PRO exerciser

        By ogenmatic

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

They work well at maintaining callouses & should be useful in creating them (I had callouses before I bought these).
The serations on the ridges are effective at maintaining callouses (and presumably creating them).
The caps snap right on GRIPMASTER and stay in place. No sharp edges except where there should be. You need to be careful not to dent the small plastic ridges against hard objects or surfaces. Will not fit on Gripmaster PRO exercisers (I own one of each). MF's product description should endeavor to clear that up since they sell neither.
For a few bucks you get something that goes on & comes off the GRIPMASTER easily. I use the two GRIPMASTERS I have to keep my hands limber & the Ruff Rider caps to keep my callluses firm on days I don't get a chance to play much.

        Great for all, especially students

        By Lerxst12

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I'm currently a 30 year old teaching myself how to play, and since I own an electric, the calluses were developing slowly until using these. I have these caps on a blue (light tension) gripmaster, and use this while I'm at work and in just one month I've noticed a remarkable difference in my fingertips. I'd recommend these for any student who needs to develop calluses or for those who need to maintain their calluses.

        Callus' will develop very quickly

        By Ryboflavan

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I have been using the Ruff Rider Callus builders with a blue light tension gripmaster for about 2 weeks now and the callus builders have by far surpassed my expectations. However I am already able to hold all of my fingers down completely with the callus caps on for some time so I may need to step up to a medium or heavy tension gripmaster soon, so keep that in mind when placing your order. Gear I use: Martin acoustic and an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe(discontinued) Jay Turser Telecaster Copy. next on the list Taylor 314ce (fingers crossed)

        Great Product

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I bought this product along with a lightweight Gripmaster to start building up my calluses while I'm away from my guitar. It does exactly what it says it's supposed to, and I can tell they've formed really well. The best part is that you can always switch them between your Gripmasters if you've got more than one. Highly recommended for beginners and veterans alike

        Pretty tough

        By Elephantgobbler

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I bought the black (heavy Gripmaster) because I thought I could handle it, and I didn't want to have to buy a stronger one after my fingers got stronger. And I could do all of them but my pinky easily. With the Ruff Rider Callus Caps, it makes it a whole lot harder. I could barely press them all the way down now. But I can feel my calluses building really fast. And when my fingers hurt too much from the caps, I just pop them off and use the Gripmaster alone to build finger strength. With the caps, it's harder to build finger strength, because you stop when your fingers hurt too much, which is usually before your fingers get a good workout.

        The GOOD kind of hurt.

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I've been an on and off guitar player so I've never formed really good callouses. Then I got the Ruff Caps. Pretty much agree great for when you're away from your instrument, preferably used with a light tension GripMaster, but overall a very useful tool.

        Kudos from a beginner

        By 52picker

        from Albany, Oregon

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

This product works exactly as claimed. I work in a wafer fab where we must wear plastic gloves for hours at a time. This makes it very difficult to maintain good calouses. I take my Gripmaster with these attached to work, swab the tips of my fingers with isopropyl alcohol and exercise on breaks. After two weeks I have nice, uniform calouses, even on my pinky. As a beginner this really helps me get the most practice time I can. It was a little painful at first but now I can go until my muscles give out, rather than my courage.

Really Works, but don't be a baby

        By Vae Victus

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I have been playing bass for about 5 years and I practice and play very regularly. I thought I had some pretty good callouses overall. After using these things on a light tension gripmaster for a little over a week I can feel my finger tips toughening up even more! These things really work great for when you are away from your instrument for whatever reason you may have, but be prepared, these things do hurt a bit to use but you get over it after a while. Plus, after you are done using these for the day just slide them off and use your gripmaster a bit more comfortably. Great tools in my opinion.

        Should work over time

        By Anonymous

Comments about Ruff Rider Ruff Grip Callus Builder Caps:

I just got these with my Light Gripmaster, and it feels like I'm trying to devolope callouses all over again, at least in the places where there aren't any. Unless you have huge hands, the lower tips of your fingers will start to get callouses too. If you're not already a super gung-ho guitar player yet, I would recommend getting the light Gripmaster.
