OVERVIEW

The convenience of a clip-on tuner with rock-solid Sabine tuning algorithm.

The Zoid Clip-On Tuner is an amazingly simple chromatic tuner that'll get your guitar, bass, or other stringed instrument in tune in no time. Just clip it on to your instrument, and the Zoid displays the note you play. The bright, two-color LCD display with its high-resolution needle and big note indicator tells you exactly what note you are playing and if you are flat or sharp with a ±50 cent indication. If the LCD fires bright green, you are in-tune. If you are in the red, the needle lets you know if you're flat or sharp. With the Zoid tuner, you can either tune using the clip that transfers the note directly to the tuner—great for noisy rooms—or tune with the built-in mic if you want to tune up several instruments at once. It has a 7-octave tuning range for a wide variety of instruments, with a 3-minute auto-shutoff when it receives no signal.

This professional instrument tuner is backed by Sabine's 2-year warranty.

when i got it, i purposefully detuned a guitar to see how well it works. tuned it up and the guitar sounded just as it should. Just out of curiosity I plugged the guitar into one of those black K0rg floor tuners. They read the exact same information!!! with this you don;t have to worry about buffer circuitry destroying your tone. However, I can see that in an extremely noisy environment, this would give false readings - after all it is all about vibrations with this type of tuner.
my first clip on tuner. i don't know how it compares to others. works just fine on electric and acoustic guitars
have had it for several months. used it live and at home. I always achieve the tuning i want.
works as well as much more expensive pedal tuners

It does a decent enough job, works pretty well on guitar or bass. I'd like it better if it had a ball mounted swivel. The red/green display is probably the best thing it has going. Switching between the mic and clip isn't very intuitive, and it's way too easy to mess up the calibration on accident. The clip on mine broke in two when it fell off my amp, so I'm getting something else.

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

Pros - functionally good, mic tuning is good for non-string instruments, green/red display is great for folks that can't see well. works well on bass and guitar.Cons - BEWARE - the rubber pad on the tuner side of the clip fell out without me noticing. This exposed a screw head with sharp edges which scratched the headstock on a few of my guitars before I noticed. There was only a very small amount glue holding it on. Now I can only use the mic for tuning, not the clip. Be sure to keep an eye on the pad or maybe pop it out and re-glue it with adequate adhesive.

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

If you play at home and not out in a noisey room and you have stock in duracell buy it. Truly is not a reliable tool.
My wife bought this for me as we saw some other musicians using something similiar, mounting on the headstock. Doesn't work well in a noisy room, and eats batteries like candy.
Very lightweight and delicate.
For me it's not worth the money, save some more bucks and buy one with real quality.

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

I got one of these a few months back, and I wish I hadn't. My Boss TU-2 has gotten a little flaky, so I figured I'd try this. I'm going to have to get the Boss fixed, if possible, because the Zoid really doesn't do it. It's supposed to work on guitar or bass, but it doesn't like the low E of a bass, and if you want to tune the B on your 5-string, well, forget it. It's also sssllooow to recognize the note you're playing, and slow to change as you try to tune. I usually have to pluck the string, wait for the display, then attempt to tune, mute all the strings and then pluck again to see if I got it right. I should have sent it back during the 45-day approval period, but I procrastinated. :(

I've read some other reviews that were negative on this product. I've used this tuner for the last couple of years and it's just fine. I've yet to change the battery. It works on accoustic as well as electric solid body guitars. I just ordered another. I'm sure, in this day of plastics, all companies will make an occasional poor product. I've found Musicians Friend will make good on everything they sell you! I recommend this tuner, buy it!

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

Got this to replace my old Intellitouch, as this seemed a little more accurate. It is more compact, and the red-to-green LED display is the best feature here. Unfortunately, it has it down side, too: Running a bright display takes its toll on the single CR2032 battery. Keep spares handy. Note reset time is a drag, and accuracy is not enough for two course instruments. *The red LED died after one year. I've ordered the Peterson Stroboclip next.

Hey Sabine is a fine product. been dragging 2 of the little box led type for years. These clip-ons are no diff. for the tortured soul whose having problems w/display jumping around,,,, FINESS will be your answer to yer dilema. Don't pick the string like yer trying to be heard acoustically at a Megadeth Show..Sure it's fun to beat on guitars, Iplay all mine like I stole 'em, self reliced if ya will,,, But tuning with these takes a lighter touch.Try one soon. They're marked downrite now,, I have 7 of 'em,and need to get several more.. No playing hide and seek thru my wall of axxe cases.Never tried electrically,, why would ya? Although i'm sure they will perform perfectly..Easy Does It!! Can't play if ya can't tune,,,eehh..

I needed to tune a guitar for someone and they had one of these tuners. I had never seen one before but when I used it I loved it. I had to have one. I came home and ordered one immediately. The fact that it lights up green when it is in tune is a big help. The screen is easy to read and it is just an overall nice tuner. If you need a new tuner I would snag one of these.

it's a good tuner for the money. the only thing it needs is a case. they should have charged alittle more and included a travel case with it.it does fit on the headstock with the case closed, but i'm not the type to leave it on there for a long period of time.works good and pretty acurate. also a lifetime battery warranty is really cool.

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

I bought this tuner about 6 months ago specifically for my acoustic guitars. I have another reliable and accurate Wittmer tuner which is great, but it's a pain to use since I have to flip a switch on the tuner for each string. Since the Sabian tuner got rave reviews, I thought I'd give it a shot. I own one other Sabian tuner and I'm not that impressed with that one either, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised that I didn't like this one. Nothing wrong with the features. The display is crisp and clear, it changes color when you're in tune, it's fairly fast, etc. Nice. If the tuner only worked well that is. It frustrates me to no end every time I'm trying to use the tuner. Since everyone else seems happy with it, I must have gotten a lemon, because it sometimes just starts showing the completely wrong pitch. I'm strumming the D string, and it's showing me F#. Then all of a sudden, it shows me D for a second, only to jump to some other key. Very frustrating. It's just not picking up the vibrations from the string accurately. I've tried to move it around on the headstock, put it in the soundhole, etc but it's all the same. This doesn't happen every time I use it, but when it happens, it seems to not want to get out of its rut. I can turn it off, then on again, and it will be the same thing. It's not the battery (brand new), it's not the guitar (I have a Taylor 714CE with wonderful tone), and it's not the strings (doesn't matter if they're new or 3 years old). Maybe I got a lemon, or maybe it's just not that good of a tuner. All I know is that mine is getting recycled, and I'm buying a Korg clip-on tuner instead.

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

I got this Sabine Zoid Z-1000 tuner as part of a limited time packaged deal through Musiciansfriend.com when I ordered a Fender CD 60 acoustic guitar. After having used it 1 to 2 times a week to tune both mine and my daughters guitars I ahve to say it really is worth more than they sell it for. First of all you have the choice of using it with the built in mic, or in a mode where it uses the vibrations produced by the guitar ( I've used this mode in noisy environments, and it works flawlessly), plus you can adjust what frequency it detects ( from 433 to 447 Hz) , plus it offers a 6 octave tuning range ( from A0 to B7) Plus the screen is an orange color when not in tune, and switches to green when it's in tune! Whew! thats alot of pluses!. Now you have to be a little patient and make small incremental adjustments to string tension to sneak up on tune, as this thing does seem to be very sensitive. But a little patience is paid off with a perfect tune every time. Don't let the low price fool you into believing this is not a serious piece of equipment, I absolutely love this thing and do recommend it to anyone considering purchasing one of these. This thing is light years ahead of the old pitch pipe I used years ago!

I bought 2 of these style tuners, This one the Sabine Zoid and the Intelitouch PT30 Classic. The Sabine works way better than the PT as far as tuning. It's pretty accurate and can easily be seen. The only real complaint I have is that if you want to clip it so the display is behind the headstock, its kind of upside down but is still usable as it lights green when your string is in tune. I haven't had it that long but it works fine.

Comments about Sabine Zoid Clip-On Tuner for Stringed Instruments:

This tuner is excellent. I noticed one comment about how it didn't register certain notes/strings, but I had the same problem at first and it was an easy fix: read the directions! I had mine set on "mic" instead of "clip." Made that change, and it's the most perfect clip-on tuner I've used. Now, mine is only 2 1/2 months old and developed a defect. So why the high marks you might ask. Well, I made one 2-3 minute call to Sabine's customer service and besides sending them the old one back, all I have to do is wait for a new one to get here. Hands down best musical customer service I've ever dealt with. Out of a possible 5, I give Sabine's customer service dept. a 7! I got a sincere apology for a defective unit and will have the new one by next week I hope. I'm picky about tuners, but I'm willing to give this one a second try. This company does audio for Disney and the Stealth Bomber for crying out loud. Besides, someone has to get the lemon every now and then.
