I've used these on 3 different guitars in the past including the set I just ordered for my Ibanez.
      They are great and secure.
The same problem however on all sets I've bought, were the screws!
They have a diameter about half the size of every original screw I have removed from my guitars.
You cannot use the original screws for 2 reasons: The screw head will not fit into these locks. The second problem is you have to drill the lock hole bigger to use a larger diameter screw, but then are faced with the problem of the screw head being too big.
Still scratching my head as to why they are made with such a small diameter screw when clearly almost every guitar has a screw diameter almost twice the size of these strap provided screws.

      Here's another concept.
Tell the potential buyer what size screws you use.
If the product description said, "Includes #6 screws", I may have pulled one of mine, saw it wasn't a #6 and looked elsware.
Should be the perfect solution. But...........
When every guitar mounts their buttons with #8 screws, why would you design your product to use #6?
You can't drill out the hole, because it's already too big. And you can't simply use the old screws, because the heads need to fit inside the new buttons.

You even include extra screws. Nice touch except that they are just longer #6 screws.
Here's an idea. Make the buttons to accept either #8 OR #6 and include extra #8's?
      Genius!
Or, tell the nice folks in China to make it to fit #8 screws, then you can have the optiion of drilling out the hole a tiny bit.

Instead, the buyer is left to fill in the holes with toothpicks and wood glue, then drill out a smaller hole, or, do as I will, look for a better strap lock.
Should be great, except for the screws.
How do I receive value on something I have to modify?

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

I bought these in nickel for my Rickenbacker 4003 and it fits the OEM posts great. There is a small bit of wiggle/play but they do not rattle or anything. It does take some patience to line up the cup with the strap. I wanted to cup facing up, so that even if the button fails, the post would still have to be lifted up to get out of the cup. This may not even matte, but I am picky. Matches the chrome on my Rickenbacker just fine. I only which they sold them just in the caps since I don't need the post, but then again it only cost 15. I would recommend these to anyone. They compare very well to a pair of fender strap locks I have on my other bass. I paid more for the fenders and they weight more, but both do the same job.

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

These were not in stock at the time of my purchase. But I was more than willing to wait a few weeks for them to arrive. They arrived sooner than expected but was worth every second. THIS IS the best guitar locking strap units one can buy, often copied but never duplicated. You want the best, order the best. They are a industry leader in locking guitar strap holders I fail to see why anyone would look further for a set of quality locks. They come in a several finishes and are easy to install, long lived, been around for years for a reason and are built very well. This is my 5th set and I always look forward to their arrival to have the peace of mind that my guitars are securely held in place, no slips, easy to take off when the need arises. As usual M.F. sold them at the lowest cost that I ever found for these strap locks, so do not put off the insurance your hard earned guitars deserve. Use it or lose it I think it goes.

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

Dont want your guitar to take dive? Install these on the strap and replace the strap buttons. Use some blue threadlocker on the nut and it will take extreme force for the guitar to fall. Available in different colors. Only drawback is you cant use a strap with this hardware on a non matching strap button

Comments about Schaller Guitar Strap Locks and Buttons (Pair):

Comparable in quality to the strap locks made by D****p, but the nuts that clamp the female end of the lock to the strap slowly come loose, and must be frequently checked. Just quickly hand tighten them every time you pull it out of the case.

I may go to an auto parts store and get some threadlock compound to put on them. The stuff is super watery, and you don't want to get it on the strap, or finish of the guitar, tho...

I have two Fender basses that were assembled with the male-post ends of these straplocks screwed into their bodies as standard equipment, but the female ends that fit on the strap were not included. One is Mexican, and the other is American made.

One other small minus is that the Schallers have slightly sharp edges that can leave dings in the guitars finish, if the strap is left attached to the guitar when it is put away in the case. Of course, if you have a "Roadworn" type guitar, that is not an issue.

If I was to pick a favorite between these and the "D" brand, i would pick the "D's" by a slight margin...

The D's are a little easier to hook on, but the posts are a little longer, and can feel a little awkward because they hold the guitar a little farther from your body, if the post is screwed into the back side of the guitars upper horn (Pointing toward your left armpit, if you are a right handed player.) The D's screws are a little longer and fatter, so they are better anchored into the guitar body...but the holes must be drilled deeper and wider.

If you have a really thick leather strap, the Schallers are a bit easier to screw on than the ones that are held on by D's post and circle clip style..which you will also need a pair of pliers (needle nose the best) to install...but then again, the screws can loosen themselves...

The bottom line is that if you can get a better deal on the Schallers,go for it. If your Fender came with 'em, go for it, and buy a set, so you have the female ends to attach to the strap. Just check the nuts frequently.

I got these in black for the black Les Paul 60s Tribute guitar in ebony I bought two years ago. I'm glad two sizes of screws were included as the short ones came in very handy during installation, which was a piece of cake. It will be interesting to see if the black finish rubs off any during use. Strap locks are the best insurance for keeping your guitars strapped to your body. I highly recommend these. In fact, I'm ordering another set for another guitar I have.
