Comments about Schaller Locking Tuning Machine Heads 6-in-line:

If you play a stratocaster and use a tremolo bar a lot this is a must. No more string tree's. That combined with a roller or tuscon nut solves your tuning issues. It also makes string changes easy. Why fight your guitar.

Comments about Schaller Locking Tuning Machine Heads 6-in-line:

Easy to install having a 10mm or 25/64 drill bit to enlarge the peg-hole diameter on a Stratocaster. These function great and look classy too.(chrome)A must in my opinion if you use the trem on a Strat.

Comments about Schaller Locking Tuning Machine Heads 6-in-line:

Some folks mentioned that installing these could be cumbersome for some. I dunno, to me if you have even novice power drill experience, this is really a breeze to install. They function superbly on my Strat and I love the extra weight. I rate these as high as Grovers for my Gibson!!

              An Absolute Must!

Comments about Schaller Locking Tuning Machine Heads 6-in-line:

I have these babies on my Modern Player Strat which had vintage style tuners on it. Personally, I hate vintage style tuners so I needed an alternative. These Schallers seemed to be the only option since I wanted to keep the chrome vibe going throughout as opposed to the Fender/Schaller locking tuners that seem a bit more dull in luster. Anyhow, a fair warning these tuners will require drilling on a Modern Player Strat (made in [*]) and I think the MIM strats as well. The original tuners are slightly smaller than these specific Schallers but it took me only 20 minutes to redrill these holes. After installing these tuners there was noticeably more weight from the headstock but in the best way possible. For me, I dig the extra weight coming from the headstock. It actually feels properly balanced. Anyhow, I am completely satisfied with these locking tuners and best of all my strings stay in tune. Plus changing strings takes about a 1/10th of the time. Thanks MF.

              Tricky Schallers!

Comments about Schaller Locking Tuning Machine Heads 6-in-line:

Excellent tuners, German made, solid and heavy. Just wish they had more color options.
The only reason, I am giving this category a 7 is because of Schaller's complete lack of documentation with these tuners. I have sperzel locking tuners on my Schecter C1 Classic, and have recently built a "frankenguitar" Jackson body and neck with completely customized electronics. Anyhow, the tuners have a spring loading steel ball that locks in to hold the strings, when you back out the knob on the back of the tuner you WILL NOT see the opening for the string open up. you have to push the string through and make the steel ball go down to thread your strings. You might think they are broken but they are not, just back the knob off on the back, and push the string through the threading hole, leave a little slack, tighten the knob real good, give it enough turns to wind your string about 1/3 around the post and your good to go. Also, these tuner heads have two different post heights. 3 are slightly higher than the others, the difference is dictated by the height of the post above the string hole. They just barely worked on my Jackson head stock, but still work beautifully.
Rugged, durable, only time you'll have to ever buy tuners for your guitar again... EVER
You get what you pay for
