Well I made the mistake of purchasing this tuner based on the great user reviews. I've owned several of the old black chromatic Korg tuners and they worked great, but I always misplace them and decided to try something new.Initially this tuner worked alright. The tuner has a lot of features, but the interface is very awkward. The nice features mean nothing though because it is terrible at picking up pitch. It has become almost useless if the guitar is not plugged in.Over time, the pitch detection got worse. In fact the only time now it catches the correct pitch of the string I'm hitting is when its already in perfect tune. Well guess what, If I'm already in tune, I don't really need a tuner. Even worse is that if often displays the completely wrong note from what I'm hitting. The only benefit of this tuner I can see is that it forces you to eventually tune by ear after struggling for 10 minutes to get it to work. At least you'll get a little better at tuning by ear...
...If it were in stompbox form! This is an excellent tuner - I've had it since I started out, and let me tell you - it's had its share of "bumps and bruises," but is still going strong! Nice, bright LED lights - great for darker rooms/live situations, plus (and I really dug this) you can set it up so that you can tune down half a step (plus multitude of others) with greater accuracy than tuners of old. Another cool little trick - it will allwo you to tune by ear if you want, as it can also play yor desired pitches to you through a surprisingly loud speaker! You really can't go wrong - whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned pro - You want accuracy, durability, and bang for your buck? This is your tuner.
I've owned and used this tuner for about twelve years now. It is an excellent tuner. I love it. I wish I could find a pedal version.
This is a great tuner, I went through tuner after tuner and nothing has lasted me like this has, and for the price its worth it.
My guitar sounds much better now that it's in tune (go figure). This thing is pretty easy to use out of the box, "needle" moves more smoothly than I expected. Tones it produces are of marginal use. "Auto" mode worked great using the mic with an electric guitar / amp, and I like the digital display of cents off. I really wanted an analog meter (like my old, inaccurate tuner), but got this due to the price and reviews. I'm very happy with it ...
This is a really awesome tuner. It works great, and unlike a lot of LCD tuners, the needle moves pretty smoothly. The only complaint I have is that there is a slot on the back to put a business card or coin into to stand it up a little. How hard would it have been for them to add a flip-down foot to it?Anyway, great tuner, no added noise in passthrough, SMALL, good stuff.
This is a great tuner for guitar and bass. I use it daily plugged into my bass; it works best that way. It is so much better than Korg tuners, just spend the extra five bucks or so and you'll be satisfied!
I purchased one of these a little over a year ago and had problems with it right out of the box. From day one it was locking up and freezing once it had been turned on for more than 10 seconds. I replaced the battery only to have the same happen. From what I hear, these are great tuners and I probably got a single defective device. Either way, I'm reluctant to buy and test another.
I was honestly very surprised about this tuner. I walked into my local music store just to pick up a tuner (My previous tuner finally bit the dust), and the first thing they showed me was this beautiful object. Of course, I was skeptical-Seiko is a clock brand, if I'm not mistaken, and not one of the big brands out there tuner-wise, like Korg and Boss. Still, for the price, I decided to take a chance. When I got home, I tuned my guitar and bass, and they sounded perfectly in tune. The detuning feature is very accurate as well, though I don't use it that much. However, for me the biggest thing was the output jack on there. It's easy when playing a gig between songs to look on your tuner and tune between songs, which is usually reserved for pedal tuners. I wish it had a mute function to further this cause, but this could also be fixed by buying a volume pedal with a tuner output. Overall, easy to use, rugged, accurate, feature filled and most important-CHEAP! Great Buy!
