Seymour Duncan released the 7-string Full Shred SH-10b Humbucker Pickup to meet the growing fan base of 7-stringed electric guitar players. The Full Shred SH10b is part of a series of Seymour Duncan pickups redesigned and released specifically to capture the deeper tones and wider range of sound found in the new generation of 7-stringed guitars.
Shredders and metalheads will be elated with the high output that the Full Shred SH-10 7-string pickup delivers. Seymour Duncan Full Shred pickups are revered for top-end clarity and crisp, well-defined low end. With aggressive midrange Full Shred pickups are great for capturing clear, tight tone during heavy rhythms and speed riffs. Duncan Full Shred pickups' 2 symmetrical coils and short Allen head pole pieces produce a more intense, focused magnetic field while their Alnico 5 magnet maintains an organic attack and feel.
The Full Shred is a perfect pickup for rock, heavy metal, speed metal, and any music featuring fast, aggressive, solo playing. Seymour Duncan builds in a 4-conductor hookup cable for various switching options. The Full Shred SH-10b and matches well with Seymour Duncan's SFX-04 Twin Tube Mayhem pickup for ultimate heaviness. The Full Shred SH-10b is recommended for the bridge position.

I purchased the set (SH-10b and SH-10n) for my ash body ESP 7-string. The bass is tight, never boomy yet open and with plenty of harmonics. There is no "ice pick in the ear" tone with these pickups. This is one of the reasons that I wanted to use AlNiCo magnets over ceramic. Sure, this pickup isn't as hot as the ceramic pickups on the market but, hi has plenty of tone and doesnt "compress" like many of the ceramic magnet pups I've used in the past. Fast picking sounds great and the dynamics are fantastic. Very sensitive and will get more aggressive the harder you pick. Definitely designed for fast playing. However, roll off the volume and it cleans up nice. Anot the hottest 7string pickup but definitely one of the most versital and doesn't get muddy with the low B.
Humbucker with 4 wires for coil taps/ phase reverse. AlNiCo V magnets. Black hex poles look great on black coil covers.
High Quality. Customer service was great Seymour Duncan as well. I had to email them to verify that the bridge Full Shred 7 string pickup does actually use ALNiCo V magnets. They responded quickly with the bill of materials for manufacturing. Some misinformed reviewers out there posted that the SH-10b for the 7 string version actually uses ceramic magnets. Not true.
A bit on the expensive side but, not as expensive as Bill Lawrence and Bare Knuckle pups. A bit more expensive than Dimarzio but, Dimarzio doesnt offer a "off the shelf" AlNiCo pickup for the 7 string. Of course, Dimarzio will certainly make one for you... That is, for a nice price.
