Comments about Seymour Duncan Liberator Solderless Potentiometer 500k:
I got this for my "Frankenstrat," a Mexican Squire with a Warmouth neck, to swap out the stock pickups for a set of David Plummer's Zhangbucker Strelle's. The Liberator Potentiometer on the BYOB pickguard is 250K to match the Strat's single coil pickups, and the pots, switch and jack are obvioulsy solid and high quality. Setting up the pickups, jack and ground wires couldn't have been easier, it is literally "plug and play." The only problem I experienced was that the cavity on the Squire is smaller than on a "real" Strat, so I needed to remove some wood. Using a drill and chisel I removed a section of wood 2 1/4" long x 1 1/2" wide x 1/4" deep where the parts that are taller than stock are, and it slid in perfectly. I also had to use a dremel on the slot that touches the neck so it would clear the bridge (but that might be because of the Warmouth), and the screw holes are different on the Squire from a real Strat (but alder is soft enough you can start the screws by just pushing them in). The results? Priceless. Zero hum. Crisp switching. Smooth gain and tone control on the pots. And that tone is unbelievable. My Frankenstrat was born a squire, but now she's a queen.
Comments about Seymour Duncan Liberator Solderless Potentiometer 500k:
Aside from the Hot Rails and Full Shred, I never dug any of Seymour's products. The Liberator has been, by far, the greatest piece of musical gear to come out in a long time. Having one installed in a boutique handmade guitar very soon!
Once installed, it could not be any easier to use. It is actually a VERY good quality volume pot, as well.
I've had my Liberator in my guitar since the first month they were available for purchase and have not had any issues with it.
That's the best part! My local guitar shop usually charge 60 dollars for two humbuckers installed in a guitar. I have installed well over 15 pickups in my guitar and have swapped back-and-forth countless times. If I didn't have the Liberator, that would've cost me over 500 dollars in tech fees. Granted, I probably try/swap more pickups than the average guitarist, but for me, it was easily worth 25 bucks. Hell, even if it cost 100 dollars it would still be a steal for me.
Comments about Seymour Duncan Liberator Solderless Potentiometer 500k:
I believe seymour duncan makes the best pickups in the USA but I just cant say the same about this product. Yes its true it looks very well built and the idea is great, but its basically too big to put into my strat. My pickguard wouldn't close unless i forced the screws in but i felt like I was crushing the liberator. When I started to play i noticed I get ALOT of hum from my humbucking pickups which i didn't get before when I used a regular potentiometer. I followed the wiring diagrams carefully too. Maybe if your guitar is rear routed this might work for you, but I think ill just stick to regular solder and potentiometers.
Comments about Seymour Duncan Liberator Solderless Potentiometer 500k:
Until you try to actually install it. Really heavy build, everything made perfect sense, decent enough instructions, but if you have 2 volume knobs and a 5 way selector, you can forget about it. It simply does not fit in anything that isn't nearly bare.Basically, it's money down the drain.
