I needed a pickup with more beefy rock tone so I bought this to replace the stock bridge single coil in my Mexican Strat. The tone is signature humbucking rock tone without the overwhelming output of most humbuckers. In fact it balances nicely with the other two stock pickups. I have the best of both worlds now, Hard Rock/Metal rhythms and signature Fender Blues tone all in the same guitar. I can't put my strat down now. Can't wait to get to the next gig with it!

I've had this pickup in the bridge of my Strat for a while now, but am starting to realize I don't like it just now, for whatever reason. It is WAY too treble heavy for my taste. It's almost ridiculous how bright sounding it is. I'm getting the stock pickup re-installed...

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

Just installed it in my '90 Fender American Standard Tele. The stock bridge pickup was weak in my opinion. I am not huge fan of most stock Fender pups. I have a couple Gibsons and a couple G&Ls and both do a much better job with their stock pups than Fender IMO. So after reading a lot of reviews, I tried the lil 59. I do really like the sound with some fuzz added. I played it through my Victoria 5W with The Hoof fuzz pedal. Sounded really nice a gnarly. Without fuzz, it was ok....not great, not bad....just ok. Dirty tho it has a sound somewhere between my Gibson SG with p90's and my Les Paul with Bill Lawrenece hb-l pups. So I guess if you have only one guitar, and it's a Tele, and you want to make it sound unlike a Tele and more like a Gibson....this is a great option. But if you already have Gibsons with p90's and hbs....and love to play them.....I wouldn't recommend this pup unless you want another guitar to sound similar. I think if I had to do it over again, I'd look for a nice punchy single coil as a bridge pup vs this just for the fact that I already have that sound out of other guitars. Quality is very good....and it looks cool in my guitar. I can't say anything really negative about it other than I was hoping it was more of a real punchy single coil sound.

Best I've tried in the bridge position on my strat. Tried about 10 different pickups before I bought the lil 59er. I have dimarzio areas in neck and mid and everything else either sounded too thin and bright or just didn't have enough output. This pickup impresses me. High notes are thicker. Lows are fat and chunky. It has a nice smooth growl with some gain and great bells and chime with the area 58.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

Firstly, my ideal pickup in the bridge is a burstbucker 3.
I put this in my highway one strat in the bridge, along with two other tx specials. I like the way it thickens your tone, but doesn;t make it muddy like a 490T. The pickup retains an edgy-ness about it. I had it setup to be split, but when playing live (i am the only guitar player) I leave it on hubucking mode cause it really doesnt get to thick for playing tunes which normally require a single coil in teh bridge.

Do not expect anything like a gibson burstbucker or anything like that. This is just a decent pickup that will thicken up your tone so you dont sound twangy playing harder rock tunes.

Overall you can't be dissappointed with this pickup unless you expect too much.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

Just had this installed yesterday on my 2008 highway strat. Very happy with it. The tone is not too fat, or muddy, but it is also not gleaming like a burstbucker (which are my favorite). Its between a traditional humbucker (ie 57 classic) and a P90. I needed this pick-ups because I needed a humbucker with tremolo. lespauls and SGs with a whammy bar are hard to find (not a fan of PRS SE, ESP, Schetcher, Ibanez). And whats great is it still sounds very Stratty. I can play Sweet Home Ala, and then the next song could be Rebel Yell. it sounds good for both situations. This will help keep my baby (les paul standard) at home, away from beer spills and stupid band mates that knock over your stuff. I gave it 4 stars since it is not a "pure nirvana" pick-up.

Great sound. I bought one of these for my '87 American Standard Strat in the mid nineties. Liked it so much I got another...then another, The Little '59 is good in all 5 positions on the Strat. It's as punchy or as mellow as you want it to be. I love the Little '59 so much I got 1 for the bridge position of my American Standard Tele. Buy this pickup...you'll love it!!!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

I swapped out the middle single coil in my HSS strat for this pickup (no tone control, straight to volume pot.). Kinda has a semi-hollow sound to it now, definitely more lows and mids, and is great for both strumming chords and fast leads. Combined with the Duncan distortion i put in the bridge and the stock neck single coil this is one versatile guitar. Definitely worth the gamble if your looking for a beefier sound out of your strat.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

It is a good pickup, sounds close to a vintage humbucker, I wish it were a little brighter tonally. I have it in the bridge of a modified MIM Strat and I like it, I just wish it had more treble bite & twang to go with the other pickups in the set. Im also not impressed with the way the insides mount into the cover, but that's being picky. With 4 conductor wiring, pickups don't really get more options... Finally, I think it should be about $10 cheaper like similar pickups from Dimarzio.

ESP LTD Michael Wilton Signature guitar (Seymour Duncan JB bridge, middle pickup removed, Seymour Duncan Little '59 neck (new rails), 3-way switch), Rivera S120 combo amp.I can get a surprising array of sounds with this pickup combination. The bridge gives the classic JB humbucker crunch sound, the bridge + neck gives a smooth humbucking sound that's slightly brighter than the standard 2 HB sound and that also cleans up nicely for a warm clean sound, while the neck by itself can, depending on context, sound like a single coil, typical neck humbucker or even give a Telecaster-style "quack" when picked hard.I bought the LTD MW-600 guitar used and "as is" with this pickup arrangement and at first I was skeptical, but after a few performances and jams the Little '59 is staying. I love that I can go from all-out humbucking raunch to nearly single coil tones, to Cream-like smooth humbucking, to a decent clean sound, to Telecasterish sounds with only 2 pickups and a volume control!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Little 59er Pickup:

I think the new construction type is supposed to be glued into the cover or something. Mine slipped out. Maybe I just don't understand the correct way to mount. B/c I use Planet Waves tuners I wasted a set of strings to get the pickguard back off and fix the problem with electrical tape. This on a day when I was in a panic to learn a bunch of songs for a rehearsal (this is what I do for a living). Maybe I just don't understand how to mount them - better read the manual and/or call Duncan before you install. Other than that this is one of my all-time favorite pickups. It has its own character. Makes a strat sound so fat, but in a good, usable, musical way. In the neck it can really pass for a PAF or a strat depending on tone. In the bridge it pretty much sounds like what it is, which is awesome. I have many of these. I like bridge model in bridge AND neck positions, and a hand wound strat pickup in the middle.

Certainly if you're shopping for a single-coil sized humbucker you've seen the others-JbJR and HotRails Etc. Take it from me I have those 3 I feel this is the best of the bunch. It has the overall best BALANCED tone and doesn't change the character of your guitar. You can't clean up the Hot Rails and you can't tame the JbJr but this one gets the tone just right and doesn't make your strat pretend its something its not.
