      More vintage with less distortion.

The SH14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup was developed by visitors to the Seymour Duncan web user group who replaced the ceramic or Alnico 2 magnet in an SH-5 Custom or SH-11 Custom Custom pickups with an Alnico 5. Compared to the SH-5 and SH-11, the Custom 5's tone is more vintage, with less distortion, but it's still very strong and powerful. Clean sounds are rich and full with enhanced presence. Comes with four-conductor hookup cable. Like a higher output '59 Model with a deeper bottom end and expanded output. Perfect for pop, country, blues, classic rock and heavy rock. For balanced and warm instruments. Works especially well with rosewood fingerboards.

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

This pickup really changed my mind about passive pickups because I normally go for actives. I got this as a bridge pickup in a LTD Viper 1000 and I had to research what the holy of holies was in the bridge...none other than this! Highly recommended for metal, palm mutes are SWEET with this thing!!!!

        Seymour Duncan SH-14 Humbucker

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

This pickup is extremely versatile. I can use it split coil for country, and full for all out Metal. I had some tone issues with the dimarzios I had in my ibanez s320 series mahogany body. The dimarzio's sounded too muddy in it, but sounded great in a basswood body guitar. So I finally decided on the TB-14/SH-14, and definitely made the right decision with this one. This pickup is very clear sounding and works very well in mahogany body guitars. No matter what style you play, this pickup does it all! Remember, the type of wood the guitar body is made of will effect how any pickup sounds.

        Just right!

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

This pickup really sings. Don't let the "less distortion" part drive you away from this pickup! I have a Custom Custom in another guitar and they are both very hot. They just have a little bit different character. It has a lot of clarity and bite but the grind is a little slower than say a JB. It is very balanced and is a little bass heavy so if you are a palm muter you'll love this! I replaced a Duncan Invader with this (from my previous metal life) and the guitar had a personality transplant. I love the new tone. So if you want somthing that still sounds vintage but can still do some pretty sweet hard rock/metal damage get it!

        Fantastic

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

I bought this pickup after long months of searching for a good neck pickup that could handle a clean blues/jazz sound, but could still rock hard in a metal setting. This was it. I dropped this in my Gibson SG and didn't play through my bridge pickup for a couple of weeks I was so amazed. It has the most awesome warm vintage sound on clean, and distorted you can get a nice Sabbath sound. This pickup rocks!

After "testing" serveral pickups for my Fender Fat Strat buying the SH-14 is the answer to my tone dreams. It has a wholesome rich and attractive sound. You can't go wrong with this one, especially if your a searching for a classic rock tone with and unique and beautiful feel, it will do the job for any tone your looking for, and you can't beat the price. Believe me you will notice the difference.

        SOMETHING DIFFERENT

        By Doc Payton

        from EL Mirage, AZ

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

I bought this p-up because I wanted more highs and lows with scooped mids. This p-up is the perfect balance. Like a hot PAF. I put this p-up in the lead position of a Schecter BLKJK and nothing but beautiful tones followed. Don't just install with the standard wiring. Do the split and coil tap thing. YOU WILL BE THANKFUL! This has a better single coil sound than any Strat I've heard and when you back off on the volume, you get some of the prettiest tones known to man! Take the time to adjust the pole pieces and it will give you some remarkable results. Great for any style and has decent gain when overdriven. Has great bite overdriven when you back off the volume. So if you have a dark sounding guitar and you want that almost hollowbody sound, This is your p-up. You will not be dissappointed.

        The work is already done..

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

This pickup installation isn't very hard, all of the work is already laid out for you. Also, this pickup is VERY CLEAR! This pickup can cut through any signal you play it through. It's very clear, especially on the thicker strings after the 12th fret as where my old pickup got muddy, it keeps everything crystal clear. Run through clean channel is even better, it has a crisp blues sound. The reason why I dropped this pickup in my guitar was because I was looking for clarity without resorting to active pickups, and I got it.Beware, not a lot of metalheads would like this, for the most part I play metal, and I like a sound that isn't too saturated. Most people use dimebuckers, JB's or other super high output pickups, but this is the most clear and versatile pickup I've encountered yet. Also, I have this pickup, but in gold. Looks great, sounds it too.

        this pickup rocks!

        By devastatin dave

        from e.p. texas

Comments about Seymour Duncan SH-14 Custom 5 Humbucker Pickup:

I have a late 90's epiphone les paul std and was never quite satisfied with the sound- so I did some research, heard some sound bytes from the seymour duncan website, and decided and the sh-14... I was very pleased with the sound when I plugged into my yamaha combo (2x12 celestion vintage 30's). Right off the bat, the clean tone was more articulate, pronounced, and overall more lively- the difference was not subtle, it was like night and day. When I kicked on the boss ds-1, the feedback was all but gone and had a nice warm, fat tone that had a punchy rhythm and a clear single not tone- not too bright and not too hot, just right. If you mostly play metal, go with a hotter pickup like the duncan distortion or the screamin' demon, but if you play more styles from rock to clean, bluesy rhythms, and want a responsive, warm, well balanced tone- this pickup is for you. Outstanding replacement pickup!!!
