Great sound, great output. Rich characteristics while retaining amplifier clarity and tone. Vintage bark with a bit of modern bite, for sure.
Took a bit of work to really get everything squared away, because the wiring diagram that comes with the pickup was definately not intended for an Ibanez guitar with a H-S-H setup, but you can find better ones online. As for features, other than the paperwork it comes with, it's a pickup. Comes with all the wires and magnets and all that.
Gorgeous sound, absolutely nails the ring and bite of a vintage pickup with the attack and sustain of more modern sounding beasts. Strong midrange and a rather heavy output," definately under-rated. Really brings out the voice of an amp with only a touch of its own color. Cleans up beautifully with a reduction in dynamics and picking or a twist of the volume knob. I use it for heavier blues to metal. Very much lives up to the catchphrase associated with it: ""PAF on steroids.""
Very well priced", given the quality of sound you get out of it, and the versatility. Not much else to say here, except that I've found Duncan's pickups to be a fantastic deal overall, so if this might not be the pickup for you, look into other Duncan pickups, if nothing else for the bang-for-your-buck factor.

I bought this Trembucker about a week ago and put in my Ibanez RG Prestige to replace the stock V8 pickup that's in it. I finished everything and plugged it in through by Line 6 POD XT Live and was anxious to get shreddin'. Well, that got nipped in the bud in a HURRY. I was using the highest gain settings I could get through my PA system and the thing was WEAK. There was almost no low end, too squeally of a high end, weak harmonics, and NO sustain to speak of. I'm trading it in for DiMarzio. I wouldn't reccommend this pickup AT ALL.

Comments about Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker Pickup:

I have this pickup in two other guitars and the sound is consistently superb! When used with distortion/gain pedals, it provides a rich, even and thick sound without being muddy or too trebly. In a clean setting, the natural sound of the guitar comes through, very clear and pristine.

Comments about Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker Pickup:

I can't believe I just discovered these pickups. I own a JB, BC Rich actives, Classic 57, EMG HZ, Dimarzio Evo and X2N and other pickups for the bridge position in my guitars. I installed the Custom 5 in a trem guitar, according to a suggestion made by one the guys at Seymour Duncan. As the day:"a PAF on steroids". I find them even better. Volume rolled down to 7-8, and you get a beautiful crisp and growl without going to the dark side. Nice for rock n roll and hard rock. Roll up to 10 and you get crazy natural harmonics you won't believe. Whammy bar harmonic sounds are so easy to get, as well as pinch harmonics. Main reason why I got this one. I do hard rock and heavy blues, and I guess they would make nice pups for metal, even though I'm not into heavier styles I can tell they'd probably be right in your ball park.

      Will purchase again definitely.

Comments about Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker Pickup:

I recently put one in my guitar and it sounds pretty good with a '59 in the neck. Cleans are nice and a little punchy and the dirty sounds are very good. However, when dealing with gain it can sometimes be a bit muddy in the midrange so I back that off a bit on my amp.

I've heard it sound better, so be careful because it might not mix very well with your setup.

I put this in my Start and it sounds awesome. DOes it make it sound like a Les Paul,no but you can certainly do convincing GnR covers with this!
Great growl and harmonics. Doesnt clean up when rolling back volume, probably not THE best for EVH stuff but its a killer pickup.

Comments about Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker Pickup:

I put this pickup in a Fender Strat with a Floyd Rose. The previous pickup sounded too midrange and nasal. The tb5 sounds more balanced. Its lows are tight and its highs are articulate. It has a great mirange tone that pushes the tubes of the amp and cuts thru a band mix. It has wonderful punchy distortion tone Nd it splits well with the neck humbucker and gives me much better tones in the split positions that my strat has. Its a great improvement.

I had stock V pickups in my Ibanez RG 470XL, I bought the seymour trembucker back in august, all i have to say it is probably the best bridge pickup i have ever bought, STRICTLY for something with Floyd Rose though, Nothing more.

Comments about Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker Pickup:

I have this pickup in my jackson dinky hss. When I played it at the the guitar store, it sounded awesome. Great harmonics, rich lows, nice dynamics too. when i brought it home i plugged it in to my fender, it sounded weak. I had to turn the gain all the way up for a mediocre pinch harmonic. the tone was also very distorted and unclear. It would probably sound a lot better through a marshall or peavey.

Comments about Seymour Duncan TB-5 Custom Trembucker Pickup:

I strictly play with my amp's gain on 10, so I can only speak on how the Custom trembucker handles under massive, detuned pressure. I must say... IT KIX HARD! With major midrange and a cutting high end that sings, it makes scooped Metal tones and detuned strings sound tightened and kickin'. For rhythm it's punchy bass feels loose, but the overall feel is certainly tight. The top end for solos are just plain full-bodied and harmonics soar. Harmonics on both high and low strings sing and are thick under scooped equalization.Overall, you should buy this pickup, if you play Metal, and if you scoop your mids, detune, and are not going to mainly play Thrash or Death Metal with it. It should be the first replacement pickup you should consider if you're gonna replace your bridge stock pickup. If you follow my advice and your gut instinct, you won't go wrong with the Custom.
