Comments about Shadow Double Side Upright Bass Professional Bridge Pickup:

I feel this is a bit over priced, but gets the job done by getting sound. You will want to run this through a preamp with an EQ prior to sending to PA.

Comments about Shadow Double Side Upright Bass Professional Bridge Pickup:

Install was a little more difficult than ideal. You need to be willing to do some moderate modifications to your bass bridge, but overall the sound was good. I was hoping for more gain, but any more on an acoustic instrument will result in feedback, so it's good. It hit the road on a new tour and performed as expected glitch free. Yes, I'd buy one again if/when a better bass is purchased.

        My first upright bass pickup.

Comments about Shadow Double Side Upright Bass Professional Bridge Pickup:

It works; its expensive for what you get; it needs a preamp; it has very poor instructions.
        It sound natural.
I don't know how to rate this, as I have no comparative data; I'll give it a high rating, because I think it is probably fine. Here are some things I learned from doing the installation and plugging it in to the Roland amp.
        1. Installation was not easy for me. The instructions were useless. The Germans apparently feel that if you need instructions you are not worthy of their equipment. I had to search Youtube to find similar installations. I had to do some cutting, filing and sanding on the slot between the "wings and feet" of the bridge. If you take off too much, the fit will be loose; too little, and the pressure required to squeeze the transducer into the space could damage it. Took me about two hours to get it done. Bridges are hard wood (maple?) and hard to alter.
        2. This needs a preamp. I still don't know what preamp to use, but volume level produced from this pickup is not great.
        3. The sound without pickup is very natural, so I am hoping the pickup will make it all okay.
        4. For what you get, this is expensive. I doubt this cost more than $5 to manufacture, so $180 is a decent profit margin. At that price, it seems that they could have bothered to include some decent installation instructions.

All these comments should be taken with the understanding that I am an ignorant newbie, and probably everybody else in the world would have none of the difficulties I did.
        Thanks

        Great Pickup

Comments about Shadow Double Side Upright Bass Professional Bridge Pickup:

This pickup is perfect for the bassist who wants to get a great full bass sound. I've found that other pickups will usually have too much low end or high end depending on which side you mount the pickup but this model allows you to get both ends evenly.
