Complete pickup system for ukulele.
Shadow's SH-1110-UK is a complete pickup system to amplify your acoustic ukulele. The Shadow SH-1110 consists of an undersaddle pickup (50 mm x 2,3 mm x 1,8 mm) which installs invisibly under the saddle and fits all standard slots and guarantees, with correct installation, a balanced volume of your ukulele's strings.
The pickup's screwable, high-quality stereo-endpin connection (SH 012) has a 2.5 mm input jack for the pickup cable (length: 200 mm) and a 6.3 mm output jack for standard instrument cables. The SH 1110-UK does not require a battery.
If you want to combine the SH 1110-UK with an external preamp, Shadow recommends the SH ACP-1. Shadow cable preamps will allow you to make your passive pickup active without a modification to your instrument.

I used this to convert an electric uke with magnetic pickup and steel strings to a piezo pickup and plastic strings. Results were good. You have to be careful when modifying a bridge; the slot will have to be made deeper for the piezo element. Flatness of slot and saddle are important. A hole for the piezo lead and jack are also required. This would probably work well on any acoustic uke.
All controls are done at the amplifier which is a minor issue considering price. Units with preamps and/or controls get expensive and create more installation considerations. There seems to be no degradation of output from the piezo without a preamp.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

would recomend if your handy with wood working on small projects or know someone who is.
After viewing some how to videos on you tube I was really suprised how easy it was to install it. If you didn't watch the how to you would have a hard time running the wires unless you've seen it done before. I does the job for what I was looking for.
a bit fragile but works well
a tad pricy but I'm pleased with it seeing how you don't have much to choose from in Uke pickups.

I've tried so many ways to amplify my tenor, but this passive piezo from Shadow is great. Output is hotter than any active system I have seen. You have to take out the mids and extreme highs on most amps with it, but once you get a sound, it has a sensitive, natural sound that makes this the best deal in undersaddle transducers. Endpin jack is great, install is simple, and never needs a battery and it's hotter than any 8 or 18v system you'll find. Buy it, try it, you will not be sorry, and, no, I do not work for Shadow or Musician's Friend - I'm just a happy customer! Mike
