This is truly a great capo. Very well built using stainless steel and great roller-bearing design. This capo does not apply too much force on the strings (it's adjustable to personal preference). It has a very gentle clamping mechanism that requires little force to fret-the-neck. Noticed right away, that the tuning is not alternated (i.e. existing tuning does not go sharp when this capo is used when properly adjusted).

At this time, I really do not use capo devices too much, but after using this one, it is the best capo thus far I tried. When you need a capo, this one is very consistent in-my-opinion.

The standard Shubb is a much better capo

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

The standard Shubb capo is a superior capo when compared to the deluxe.

The deluxe capo uses a wheel for tension while the standard capo uses cone shaped nub. The wheel gives the removal of the capo a snapping action which hits my fingers, ouch! The standard Shubb does not do this.

Even at it's lowest setting the deluxe capo gives too much tension when I use it at the 8th fret on my guitar (playing, "Girl" by the Beatles). The standard capo have a much larger tension range it allows me to capo anywhere on the neck from the first to the 12 fret.

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

I bought this to use with my electric guitar (Strat). I have a Kyser that I've been using for decades with my acoustic and I love it also, however it seems to make my start sound out of tune when I used it with my electric guitar. I figure it was because of how tightly it clamped down on the strings. With this capo, I can adjust the tension which is exactly what I needed. This goes on my electric while keeping the sound true, clean, and perfect. Sounds great, I often have to play in church to lead the praise before the service and now I can use my electric even when I need to use the capo : )

Foolish design and bad company attitude.

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

Bought a Shubb Deluxe Series Steel String Capo because the design looked good. "Looked" is the operative phrase here. Mechanism is great but the adjusting screw used is too short making clamping on thin guitar necks marginal. I wrote company complaining about it and they were aware of the problem but after selling 80,000 capos still hadn't decided to fix it. Also the knob on the screw is too small forcing you to adjust it with tension released. I also pointed out to Mr. Shubb that as the rubber got old this thing would likely no longer clamp on a thin neck and he promised to send me some replacement rubber parts but never did. Now all my emails are unanswered. This is a wonderful design if you are up to remanufacturing it before you use it like I did. I love mine now. All it takes is a slightly longer adjustment screw with a larger knurled knob on it. Just don't expect any help from from the company.

Comments about Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

Finally got around to trying the Shubb capo after being a longtime trigger capo guy. Well, this is it. The ability to adjust the tension is excellent -- clamps securely and doesn't yank strings out of tune. I love the small profile since it stays out of my way. The search is over.

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

I've been an avid Kyser user for years, and decided to pick up a Shubb after hearing a lot about them. I've always loved how easy the Kyser capo is to switch, but don't like how the grips stick up so far. The Shubb solved that problem. While it's not as quick to change as a Kyser, it's not that bad. And I love that everything about it just seems out of the way. It's like you don't have a capo on the guitar. I'd highly recommend both capo's to anyone, but the Shubb is the better option in my opinion.

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

I am a beginning guitar player, and had no idea what a capo was for! I saw them being used at a concert and had to search on line for what they were called and used for! I decided to try to learn a song on YouTube and the instructor suggested the use of a capo to play in the original key of the song. I ordered this one based on my steel strings. The instructions that came with it were great and it was quite easy to fit. Once you fit it to your guitar (via the tightening of a screw) you are all set and just have to clamp it on when you want to use it! Very easy! I am still struggling with the song, but I have high hopes!

This capo requires a little adjustment in ones procedure to apply or to move, but it is the only capo I've ever had that won't pull my 25-year old Ovation Pinnacle out of tune. I especially appreciate this when performing, when neither retuning nor playing out of tune are good options.

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

I have 5 different guitars, 1 Classical and others are steel string, "narrow neck". I find that my 2 dreadnaught's are too wide for the capo to work on frets 7 or above. On my Hummingbird it won't work at 5-6 or above. Even the frets where it does work, I have to be exact when putting it on as there is little room for error (1/8 inch play room, I/16th above and 1/16 below). The one I used to have but lost, didn't seem to have this problem. I could get one for my wide neck, classical and use that on my narrow neck but it would interfere with my finger placement close to the capo.

This is a replacement for one that was misappropiated from me. I replaced it with the same model/brand because it works. Easy on/off, adjustments and doesn't interfere with your playing. Fits easily in your pocket or waistband when not in use but don't leave it unsecured because it may walk away like my other one did.

Comments about Shubb Deluxe S Series Steel String Capo:

I've used several different capos over the years, and I can honestly say that there is no better capo on the market than the Shubb deluxe.

The roller-ball design makes it a breeze to put on and take off; no need to have incredibly strong wrists. No time wasted tightening and loosening the screw as with some other screw-set capos, just set it once and you're done! It's the perfect blend between trigger capo designs and screw-set: you get the ease and speed of fitting of a trigger and the relative ease on the wrist and adjustable tension of a screw-set.

The set screw and the unique rubber sleeve work together to mimic how your finger presses the string. You can set it to just the right tension as to get a clean sound but not distort tuning. This is the only capo I've ever used that I've not had to re-tune after fitting.

So long as you take care of it, the thing will last you forever. It's very well-built indeed.

I'll definitely be ordering a couple more as backups. I won't use anything else, and after you try this capo, neither will you.

This is the best capo I've ever had. This capo is very neat and compact. The tension adjustment works great and is very easy to use. It only took me a few seconds to find the right tension adjustment. The capo snaps onto the guitar very easily. The capo even works very well with very light tension. The construction seems very strong and precision like a fine piece of machinery. I've noticed that the sleeve that holds the strings down doesn't get string grooves in it right away like some other capos do. Overall, I'd have to say that it's pretty much a perfect product.

Better than a ton of other capos...

I've used several different capos before, and this is one of the best. It is really easy to clamp and has an adjusting screw to fine tune the pressure, so you can let it adjust to your guitar specifically. It's one of those that doesn't make the strings lie dull, but doesn't pull them sharp.
