      Shubb

The Shubb Resophonic Guitar Capo is based on the same mechanics as the regular Shubb guitar capo. Locks solidly to the neck for great tone. Aligns by feeling the fret, not by eye. The easiest and best sounding capo ever put on a resonator guitar.

might take a few minutes of trial & error to figure out, but once you have it set up right and understand how it's supposed to be affixed, it's 100% as-you-expected-it-to-work.

Comments about Shubb Resophonic Guitar Capo:

Though the current picture on the item (as of November 2013) looks more like the older model, the capo delivered to me by Musicians Friend is the new Shubb C6B with the adjustible "dobro piece" that allows two choices depending on the action of the strings above the fretboard (3/8" or 7/16"). It comes set up for the 3/8" action, which did not work for me (deadened strings, too much play, inconsistency, and fiddling around required), but when I switched it to the 7/16" setting (a very quick and easy change to make), it worked absolutely perfectly every time! (Older versions without that option didn't work on a lot of dobros and gave the earlier device a bad reputation.) I suppose if your dobro is set up with higher action than 7/16", it might not work for you, but it was great for my setup (a Gold Tone PBS-D, set up as delivered from the factory). The sound is clear and sparkling (tho it can never be quite as good as without a capo, no matter what capo you use), and the capo goes on quick and easy. Like a standard Shubb guitar capo, the lever screw on the bottom needs to be adjusted slightly as you go up the neck if the neck is tapered, but it is easy and quick, and can be adjusted and installed quickly with your left hand, without ever taking off your right hand picks (or vice versa if you're left handed). The design is terrific if you have actual frets up the neck (as does my Gold Tone) as the "dobro piece" has a slot that slides right over the fret, aligning it perfectly every time- no eyeballing required. Of course if you don't have fret wires (frets just painted on) it will still work, but it will require careful lining up, like any other dobro capo. I would not advise using it above the 4th fret because most necks taper dramatically after that, but why would you want to go above the 4th fret capo position on a dobro? If you want to go up that high, a floating model capo might be a better bet for you. But I love this capo and I am simply overjoyed with how well it works, how good it sounds, and how quickly I can put it on! A fantastic product. You may want to watch a video I found on YouTube demonstrating the capo and comparing it to 3 others: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQnPI8ysc4Y. That's what sold me and I'm glad it did.

Comments about Shubb Resophonic Guitar Capo:

This capo will fit a variety of Dobro/Resophonic/Resonator guitars. The label in the package has directions for setting it up for the neck and strings of your specific instrument; it comes set up for a thin neck and 3/8" string height.
I do find it a bit more trouble to use than a guitar capo, but that's to be expected. It works very well when you get the settings right. Do not overtighten it, as that will distort the strings.

                  Rogue and Shubb don't match-up

                  By Da-Rodg

                  from Pueblo, CO

Comments about Shubb Resophonic Guitar Capo:

I just received my Shubb Capo and realized it doesn't work on my Rogue Resonator.I contacted Shubb directly prior to purchasing the Capo and was assured it would work on my Rogue. It's an engineering glitch that's a pain but correctable. However, it doesn't. What I discovered is, it's the Rogue manufacturer and not Shubb who is at fault. The string height is improper on these makes. The low end of the fret board has the string height less than 3/8" above the fret board, thus inhibiting the use of the capo unless you literally raise the strings to insert the capo. Not a good thing. So, what I decided to do was have the cheap plastic nut on my Rogue replaced with a taller better quality "Bone Nut". This will raise the string height to the proper level.

Comments about Shubb Resophonic Guitar Capo:

I purchased this Dobro Capo to use on my Rogue Resonator Square Neck guitar. Even by following the adjustments directions to have it fit under my strings I still had to lift each string for it to slide under them before clamping it dowm to the neck. I have now found out from a Dobro luthier that the "Shubb" capos are intended for use on a "genuine" Dobro guitar. The features are great but this will come in to greater use when I finally acquire a real Dobro. I love using "Shubb" capos just the same. I have a few for my acoustic guitars. Always satisfied with 'em.

                  Shubb dobro capo

Comments about Shubb Resophonic Guitar Capo:

Sounds better to me than other dobro capos I've used. Probably because it clamps right onto the neck. It's easy to place it just right because you just put it up against the fret.
