I love this case and I bought it because of the price and the many many positive reviews. I'd been looking for a while but most cases in this price range look feel and perform like you'd expect but this case is in a different league. One review I read the guy talked about being over 200lbs. and standing on top to test it, noting the case passed with flying colors. I wouldn't do that but I have no doubt they are being truthful as this case is so well built for the price I almost think they sent me the wrong one. But no mistake was made, this IS the case I ordered and it is as good or better then a $150 or $200 case easy; and that's not just lip service. You can't disguise the true quality of a case when you get your hands on one, cheap cases are flimsy and not well padded with cheap latches and appointments. This case is the opposite in each and every way possible, it is very well made, sturdy, stiff and fairly heavy too. The interior padding is thick and substantial and the emerald green crushed velvet interior is just more beautiful then I can express.

I am still sort of stunned and surprised by the quality and quantity of the latches. There are no less then SIX count em SIX latches. I've actually seen a couple of reviews complaining about this and it made me laugh, I'll take all six thank you very much. Four and five latches are good, six is better plain and simple.

You could take this case to any number of experienced musicians and ask "How much do you think this case costs?" and you're going to get $150 to $200 every time, it's simply that well built. One guy said he weighs over 200lbs. and stood on top of it to test it and it passed with ease. Although I myself wouldn't go that far to test the quality I have no doubt it is true, you can just see and feel how well built this case is.

As always MF gave me a great price, sent it with free shipping, no tax and got it to me faster then any company I have ever worked with which is standard practice at MF they do it every time. MF doesn't mess around when it comes to shipping, you buy it and the product is out their doors and shipped before the day is out with an email sent letting you know before you can check. It took only two days and it was at my door smiling back at me AMAZING really.

Understand this case isn't for the touring musician, it's not a road case or a flight case but I it will do very well in almost any other situation from the local gigger to the Tuesday night open jammer.

Make no mistake a standard dreadnought will fit like a glove in a glove, zero movement within the case ZERO. I didn't want a case where my guitar flops around inside during travel,if that had been the ...case ...I would have returned it in a second.

Bottom line if you're looking for a good solid case for you dread you can spend more if you want but you won't get a better case even for much more money.

One more thing. I have read one or two people that were concerned that the case isn't deep enough to fit a 4.5 deep dread but that is NOT an issue at all. My dread is almost a full 5 inches in depth and the guitar fits perfectly in the case, there is no lack of depth in the case itself as far as holding a dread safely none. You can expect your dread to fit without issue so buy with confidence this case is a world beater.

Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case

This is an OK case for the money, it will protect and serve. I had to pull out the foam and put in additional foam to make a tight fit for my guitar.

Great case!

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

Super case! Rivals my Taylor. Top-notch build quality, great hardware, and fits my Simon & Patrick CW Pro (Martin D28 copy w/ cutaway) like a glove. Worth twice the price, shipped direct to my front porch for free! My LMS couldn't come close on a similar case for this price. No glue smell, just a heckuva nice case.

Top-notch, no issues whatsoever.
What a super deal. Just be sure to measure you're guitar before you buy! Mine fits great - upper bout = 11.21", lower bout = 15.59", waist = 10.56", body length = 20.05", 24.8" scale length, 43.25" overall.

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

I bought this case to house my recently purchased Sigma SD-18 dreadnought size guitar. I wanted to get an affordable case to replace the gig bag that I originally purchased with the guitar, without paying as much for the case as I did for the guitar.

First off, the case is absolutely gorgeous. The emerald green lining is beautiful, and compliments the mahogany and spruce colors of the guitar very well, as well as the tortoise colored binding and pickguard on the guitar. The whole combination looks very vintage, and much more expensive than it actually cost. The case is a perfect fit for this standard dreadnought size guitar, and holds the guitar securely with no movement back and forth. The case has 2 support points for the neck, and encases a larger than average storage pocket with ample room for capo, tuner, picks, and other accessories. The pull tab for the storage pocket is leather, a nice touch. The padded lining of the case is 3/4" thick, and while firm to the touch, allows some compression to absorb shock. There is a cut-out space in the lining at the bottom of the case to allow room for the end pin to reside, without making contact with the case.... a very nice and unexpected safety feature. You can actually feel the pattern in the emerald green lining that you see in the photos, and the lining material is nice and soft. The arched top built into the top of the case provides room for the bridge and saddle of the guitar. There is an extra layer of padding on the bottom of the case at the upper bout to securely position the guitar body with respect to the neck supports, as well as an extra layer of padding around the perimeter of the arched top of the case, to securely hold the body of the guitar when the lid is closed. The case hinges are covered by a layer of the lining to guard against nicking your guitar while taking the guitar in and out.

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

This was the fourth or fifth of these Silver Creek cases I bought...have been my favorites until this one.the Tolex (?) covering was shrunk away from two seams, leaving a white glue strip exposed.
the lid is flimsy-er feeling now..lighter and thinner.
One of the rear hinges seems to have been crushed in..obvious when case is opened.
Last one I'll buy...apparently the bean counters have taken over, and its a pity. Has been a class act until now!

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

First, know the dimensions of this case fit my guitar perfectly! The 11-year old dreadnaught has a single cut-away, and is a little smaller than most true dreads. I tested it in 6 cases at The GC, and it was loose in every one...NOT the Silver Creek! This fits like glove, and is made very well! Also, the padding & lining are firm, not fluffy. The foam is like heavy foam rubber, not light pillow stuffing. So, make sure your guitar will fit.

        My Guitar Dimensions:
        lower bount = 16"
middle = 9.5" (Yours can be wider, say 10.5")
        Upper bount = 11.5"
        Body length = 20"
Body depth at neck = 4"
Body depth at tail = 4.5"
        OAL - 40.5"
The case will easily allow for a head stock of a 12-string.
If your guitar body is bigger than the above dimensions, it probably will not fit. Mine is snug in every direction!

Alvarez siad they never made a case that fit this well, and only recommended standard dread cases, which are too big IMO.

I am currently deployed and this fits my fender cd140sce like a glove. small enough to throw in the back of a truck with everyone's gear and sturdy enough to not worry about my guitar getting damaged. I also did not read on the description but this case also locks.

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

Sturdy case, nice crushed velour interior. Tolex is a bit on the thin side, but still very nice. The case looks quite sturdy. Abundance of latches adds to the sense of sturdiness. Let me say it: it is an absolutely gorgeous, classy-looking case. It looks like a clone of the newer Larrivee deluxe cases.

Only low point is fit, which is hit and miss; some dreads fit nicely, some fit tighlty, others don't fit at all. I had purchased it to replace a Larrivee D beat up case, but was disappointed that the guitar would not fit inside.

Not the first one I buy, so I have some experience: Simon and Patrick D: 12-string fits very nicely. Masterbilt Epiphones D: some fit, some don't, even within the same model (different countries of manufacture give different fit). Epiphone Texan reissue: quite tight fit. Etc.

Check your guitar's measurements carefully, and compare with what measurements are published.

          Of course, YMMV.

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

For your Acoustic Guitar, I recommend this case be your first choice at the best bang for the buck.
I have been a professional performing guitarist/vocalist for over 40 years, and have owned some outstanding acoustic guitars, cases and gear throughout my career. I have to say, by far in today's market, this Silver Creek Case is a superior product for your dollar (well made, beautiful appearence).
For the dollar, this is the best value of any product I have ever purchased from Musician's Friend.

My input... is to recommend you really market these more actively, and you would experience higher sales through customer satisfaction. There was a time, many years back when you could buy a great made name brand guitar and case for a reasonable price of $500.00 to $800.00 (Gibson, Martin & Guild) retailers looked after the working musician and worked with them. With the high price of today's gear, think about all the potential performers that will never be, because they didn't have access to reasonal priced performance worthy gear. Something to think about? Thanks JC

Comments about Silver Creek Vintage Dreadnought Archtop Case:

The Silver Creek archtop guitar case (and it's little brother for the ukulele) is a fantastic case and a great value. It does what it's supposed to and does it well for a reasonable price. My only complaint and the only reason I did not rate it a 10 out of 10 overall is the smell insode the case when it arrives. It has a very strong chemical smell inside when it arrives. Must be from the adhesive they use to adhere the cushioning to the case or something. My ukulele case had the same smell when it arrived. The smell does go away if you open the case and air it out. I had to open my case and leave it by a window where it got direct sunlight most of the day and after about a week the smell was gone. I wouldn't put an intrument in the case before airing it out unless you want your instrument to aquire this odor. It would be nice if the manufacturer could air them out until the odor was gone before packaging them up and shipping them out. That being said the case is fantastic after it has been aired out and having to air it out for a week is a small price to pay for such a fantastic case at a reasonable price. I definately recomend getting this case and no doubt that Silver Creek will be my first choice for a case for any instruments purchased in the future.
Some reviewers have complained about the two "extra latches on the back" of the case but they do serve a purpose. If you study the design of the case you will see that those latches on the back are there to create a better seal. So if you are using an in case humidifier it won't dry out too quickly. The seal is very tight. It has ample padding and I have tried three different guitars in it. All were extremely tight fits (in a good way). It has a decent size storage compartment for picks, tuners cables etc. and it has a nice padded handle.
It's a good quality build with solid latches and a tight seal. I bought it to house a Takmine G series and it fits well. Very tight solid fit on this guitar as well as two other friend's guitars that we put in it just to test fit. Construction is solid and it has good feet on the bottom and back to set the case down either horizontally or vertically. It's not light but it has a nice padded handle. I bought the Silver Creek case for my ukulele about a year ago and it held up very well. The seal on my ukulele case is very tight even after a year of use. Aside form some dirt and scratches on the outside of the case it's still like new. My experience with that case made it a no brainer to give this case a shot when I needed a guitar case for a new guitar and in fact the guitar case seems tougher than the ukulele case. I have no doubt that it will hold up and still seal tight for years to come while protecting my guitar just like it's little brother has for my ukulele.
Great value for the money. It fits well, seals tight and protects my guitar from damage. When combined with an in case humidity control system, it adds an extra level of protection. I use the planet waves humidipacks and the tight case seal makes them last longer and saves money on replacement packs. Even if you were using a refillable system like the Oasis OH-6 it helps in that you don't have to check and refill it as often. Everything a case is supposed to do at a reasonable price.
