Comments about SKB 1x12 Amplifier Utility Vehicle:

I was looking for a case to carry my Mesa Boogie Mark V combo. In the 1970's, Mesa used to ship there combos with anvil tour cases. They were great but weighed a TON! The amp is already 65 lbs and a regular case would add another 60 to 80 lbs! So, I went with the SKB AUV. Glad I did! It's only another 20 lbs and protects the amp perfectly.
To fit it to the case, I centered the amp onto the bottom rolling cart and placed two of the plastic brackets under one side. Then the next two. They have Velcro on the bottom AND plastic kleats. The brackets also have felt on the inside to protect your amp! The strap that holds the amp has a neoprene center section to fit over your handle. Great idea! The amp does not budge, very sturdy. The top of the case fits and latches easily. This case has the same total dimensions my Mesa 2x12. For live use, I flip the top over and lift the amp into the top and latch it. It is kinda tricky to line up the amp and the latches because the casters sometimes get in the way.
With the locking casters, the case sits in my car and doesn't move around.
        Great case!

        skb 1x12 utility vehicle- USED

Comments about SKB 1x12 Amplifier Utility Vehicle:

in each of my reviews I cant say enough about how good of a deal musiciansfriend's used gear section is. Especially if you are in Canada, you can get items that wouldnt normally ship here, for a reduced price even. So far most of my setup has been from their used gear section and Ive had absolutely no problems with any of em.
As far as the case goes, it gets the job done. All likes, no dislikes-If you want something more metal designed, go for the Gator ATA cases but you'll be paying an arm and a leg for em.
all your standard amp case features. this 1x12 skb model is pretty big! it fits my line 6 dt25 1x12 combo no problem but could hold some bigger 1x12s like fender hotrods, maybe even the 2x12 deville.
its plastic and not ATA metal, but it gets the job done!
once again, musiciansfriend's used items section comes to my aid ive been looking to get one of these cases for my line6 dt25 1x12 combo for a while now but they are hard to get in Canada...until I spotted one used here so I scooped it up! saved some money on it too and the condition is like new.

SKB 1x12 combo case - Very Nice

        By R L

        from Sk Canada

Comments about SKB 1x12 Amplifier Utility Vehicle:

Very happy with the purchase. Now have (almost) nothing to worry about with an expensive Mesa combo that I really want to last for awhile. Worth the money over a standard 1x12" case, no doubt.
Handles are strong and large, but tuck away flush with the sides. Smooth casters, doubles as a stand with ease (and pretty sturdy given the weight is at high-center) and is fairly light given its size and strength.
Only had it for 2 weeks but it is very smooth, very strong
Not cheap of course, but it is very well built, lighter than wood/metal cases, is a built-in stand and even looks good.

        Review

        By Constellations

        from Toronto, ON

Comments about SKB 1x12 Amplifier Utility Vehicle:

First off, kudos to MusiciansFriend for shipping this to me (and I live in Canada near Toronto) 4 business days after I placed the order. Ordered on a Monday ? got it on a Friday. You?ve got to love that! Now, since there?re no other reviews, I figured a really in-depth one would help anyone considering this case. Check it out:POSITIVES:- Great quality case! This isn?t a thin roto-molded ?cover? ? this is a thick, extremely durable, impact resistant case that SKB covers with a phenomenal warranty. I?d trust the durability of this material more-so than I would the plywood/polypropylene combination that other reputable companies are putting forth!- The cleat and belt system secures my amplifier (?65 Deluxe Reverb) wonderfully to the bottom cart. Also, the metal-stops on the casters are great for when you want the thing to stop rolling around: definitely high quality stuff through and through here.- You can flip the cover over, secure the cart that your amp is fastened to on top of the cover, and you have an amp stand that is the perfect height for any jam session where mics aren?t present.- The latches, cleat and belt system, casters, handles, and roto-mold are all TOP QUALITY and are built like a tank. And, again, SKB covers it with a wonderful warranty.- This amp can accommodate a number of amp sizes (see SKB?s website) snugly and securely, and also has some pretty neat product demonstrations to show you how to get the most out of this case (check videos from YouTube or NAMM).NEGATIVES:- This is more of a road case, than a flight case, per se. The interior has no high-density foam for shock protection. The cart that the amp secures to offers some shock protection (more than enough to keep your precious tube-amp safe and secure when in transit), but not nearly as much as an ATA-compliant case (if that?s what you need, take a look at Gator?s GTOUR 2226 case: it is very similar to this case dimensionally). In summation, I?d trust this case in the back of car, van, or trailer: but not on a flight (good thing I?m not doing a world tour anytime soon).- When you use the amp case as a stand, know that it is top heavy, so make sure it is fortified at the bottom, or against a wall or something. Last thing you want is that beautiful amp of yours smashing on the ground because of a rogue tug on your instrument cable.FINAL THOUGHT:This is a great case. Considering that the competition sells theirs for at least $100 more for a combo-style amp case, this is the no-brainer. It doesn?t offer the best shock protection (although, it does offer an adequate amount), but it certainly does offer the best impact resistance. For transporting your baby back and forth time and time again, and keeping it safe and secure during the ride (even if the driver can?t help but make the sharpest turns), this is a wonderful case!
