OVERVIEW

Durable soft case with 600-denier exterior, rigid-foam interior for traditional-bodied guitars.

The SKB 1SKB-SC66 fits traditional body styles, both left- and right-handed including Stratocaster-style, Telecaster-style, Jackson guitars, etc. and offers the superior protection of the very same rigid foam inserts found in SKB's hardshell guitar case line, but with the style and portability of a softshell gigbag or backpack case.

All SKB soft guitar cases feature a rugged, weather-resistant, 600-denier ballistic nylon exterior with a hard-core EPS foam interior to provide more substantial protection than a conventional gigbag.

The SKB 1SKB-SC66's exterior features two zippered pouches, one with numerous internal compartments for organized accessory storage, and an adjustable padded backpack strap for easy transport. The hard foam interiors are plush-lined and offer full-neck support to cradle the guitar neck more securely than a conventional bag. The SKB guitar case also has 3 rubber feet for standing your bagged instrument on it's side without worrying about it tipping over.

FEATURES
  • Case designed to fit traditional body style guitars, including left-and-right hand guitars
  • Heavy-duty double pull zipper
  • Molded EPS interior with plush lining
  • Durable 600-denier exterior layered with rigid foam

If you need a case for your Strat style guitar this is the one. It's light weight, compact, and well made. I tossed my old worn out gig bag in the garbage. I'll be ordering a second case for a Strat I just purchased over the holidays.
I ordered this case for a Strat that I use at church. The gig bag I used had worn out and I wanted to have a bit more protection for my Strat. I was amazed at the durbability of this guitar case. First, the heavy-duty zippers work in both directions and don't get caught on the corners. Both zippers stop at the rear of the case allowing the case lid to open all the way.

Second, the case lid had a strap that kept the lid open. I have other cases that the lid keeps closing as you try to take out the guitar without the lid wacking into it. Inside I was delighted to see a nice soft bed to lay my Strat into. The material was black in color and not to fuzzy. There is an open compartment to put strings, strap and a slide bottle into. My only beef is that this is an open area of the case next to the guitar bed and I worry about my slide bottle getting lose and banging into the guitar. I think when the lid is closed it prevents anything from moving out of the open compartment area. So far nothing has moved around.

Third, and most important, my Strat fits in the case perfect with no wiggle. The headstock and guitar body fit snuggly into the injected foam case like a glove. With the lid closed the guitar does not bang around inside the case. An added plus in my book. Fourth, I noticed that this case is a bit shorter, probably 3/4 size of a regular Strat case. This smaller size makes the case lighter and easier to carry. Lastly, There are numerous zippered pockets on the outside of the case for cords, strings, picks and other stuff. This is handy when you don't want to have to open the case each time to get out something you need. Best of all, there are two heavy-duty shoulder straps on the back side of the case that make carrying this case on your shoulders a breeze. I use the handles on the case. Value wise this case is a steal. At $65 you'd be hard pressed to find another case half as good for twice the amount. Inexpensive, lighweight and well made I give this case five stars. I'll be buying a second one as soon as I finish this review.
Even though it's made in China, and everything seems to be these days, this is a well made, well thoughtout guitar case. Thanks SKB.
This is the best deal I've ever seen at MF

This nylon covered foam case is lightweight and sturdy. BUT... it only fits some Telecasters and Strats since some headstocks protrude too far out and get caught in the zipper. Also the handle is in the center and doesn't balance the guitar correctly when carrying. Probably because SKB uses this same basic design for their keyboard line.

A much better choice in my opinion is the Gator case similar in design to this one. Better fit, properly centered handle and generally better overall. However, that case does not have backpack straps, but c'm are you really gonna carry a long flat rectangle on your back?

Comments about SKB Rectangular Electric Guitar Soft Case:

Seems I had to wait forever for MF to restock this case. I figured they were in high demand cause they were selling out as soon as they became available. Finally got smart and asked to be notified when they were in stock. MF contacted me and I didn't waste anytime (thank goodness) glad I didn't cause they were out of stock by the time mine shipped. I recently bought a Line 6 Variax built on the Yamaha Pacifica series and it didn't come with a case. Looked long and hard cause I really want to protect my investment and this case seemed to meet my expectations. I can honestly say I am well pleased with this case. Fits like a glove and plenty of room to carry extra's in the case and an additional pouch on the front of the case. It also has backpack type straps so you can carry your axe hands free and a one hand pickup strap on the back I found very convenient. I have 2 S-500 G&L's which also fit this case and a Line 6 JTV 69S.

Too small to fit a Stratocaster shaped guitar without the headstock almost sticking out it. The handle is centered which causes the case to become off balance when a guitar is put inside.

Comments about SKB Rectangular Electric Guitar Soft Case:

Over all... I really like this case!!! Reasonable price. Very light weight providing protection for medium use. This would not be good to check as luggage ie not an airline travel case. Normal or semi pro musician use is excellent protection especially for guitar you carry yourself, throw into your car backseat to a gig. Exterior appears like it will hold up, and guitar is safe from medium or somewhat hard bumps without any dings or scratches. On the down side - the fit is a bit precarious on my G&L ASAT (a Tele style guitar). The body fits perfect but the headstock BARELY fits into length of case. I had to compress a bit of the case inside to get it to close. This puts a little stress on the zipper that I am slightly worried about. Also tried a Martin Stinger (Strat style guitar) which has a bit longer headstock then normal Strat and found same thing... case a hair bit too short for perfect fit, but still seems safe, especially body and neck firm in place with good fit. The fit for this case is probably best for standard size Fender style Tele or Start with no problem...just that my gtrs are not standard. Overall, I like the case alot and will keep it.

Comments about SKB Rectangular Electric Guitar Soft Case:

I have three of these, now, and they are the cases I use for guitars I build (I had a fourth one, but it went with a hollow-body Tele hybrid I built and sold), as well as whenever I buy a used guitar w/o case. This case fits Teles, the black korina Strat I put together, double-cutaway Les Paul, even a pretty big-horned Schecter Blackjack I bought. Your Explorer/Iceman/Firebird/V or X-type guitars won't, though. When your guitar lays in this case, it seems to rest *above* center. Since the inside top is molded, too, that's as it should be, and your guitar will stay immobile. Although there is an inside 'accessory compartment', it has no lid, so your slide, wang-bar, picks, and/or Allen wrenches will rattle around inside. If you wrap it/them in a bar-towel or bandanna first, you'll avoid any scratches on your guitar's finish, or broken slide/tuner/whatever. There's plenty of room in the outside pockets for that stuff, besides (I've carried cords, a DejaVibe3, and a PS at the same time in the outside pockets lol). I've wrapped colored tape around the handles of mine; when I wanted to grab a particular guitar, I had to look in each identical case. Now they're color-coded on the handles. These cases are also substantially shorter than typical Strat-type hard-shell cases; these are short enough to just fit in my tiny trunk ('99 Miata lol). My LP case is the only other one that fits there. Hope this helps---I think they're great everyday go-to-gig cases, and better-made than similar-looking ones here.

I like this case a lot and use it every week for almost all my guitars. I bought it for a Tele style guitar I built from selected parts I purchased. It is not long enough and I had to cut out some to fit the headstock. It also hits the pickup selector switch. The description should include all the interior dimensions instead of just a list of guitars.
Beyond that it is light weight strong and works well.

I wanted something sturdier than the gig bag that came with my econo-Strat, and this case will be great as long as the zippers last. But it is just exactly long enough--a longer guitar would not fit.
