About a year ago I purchased the 12 space Roto rack, and began by only filling four spaces, two at the top, and two at the bottom. The problem was that I live in the desert of California where it is well over 100 degrees sometimes and over 140 in the back of my truck. During transport the thing would warp inwards (because all plastic will in the heat). It also got VERY hot inside and I was concerned about my power amps frying. The good thing is, once you fill the rack, you will not have the warping problem, because equipment will hold the rack out. It still concerns me how hot it gets though. Fantastic quality otherwards, and I will continue to use SKB because of the liftime guarantee (that nobody else has!) Also, compared to Roadrunner and other wood cases, it is ultra light.Other concerns- NO rear rails. This means you have to install them to mount most power amps correctly. Also, no casters, you have to install or buy these from SKB. Be sure you don't do a home job and void your guarantee! That is what you pay for with SKB!

This rack is really poorly made and poorly designed. First, the finishing is not very good. Some racks I saw in the store had small holes in them where the plastic didn't fill in during molding. They all have rough edges and generally do not look that great up close. Admittedly, a rack's job is to take abuse, and it'll get scuffed up and rough looking even if it's perfect new. But that doesn't mean it shouldn't be perfect new.
But that's just cosmetic. Functionally and design wise, it's a disaster. There is a lip around the rack opening on each side, and a groove in the lid. All well and good, should provide some minor protection against water and dirt getting in (there's no O-ring though). The problem is that the inner wall of the groove in the lid comes in too far. It overlaps the rack gear. If the rack gear has a thicker faceplate, such as the Line 6 Relay G90 wireless receiver, the lid does not fit on. Or, if you like to put washers between the rack rail and the gear to protect both sides, any gear is now too thick. Now, if the gear has a thin enough faceplate and you don't want to use inner washers, you might not notice it, and maybe you're OK with it. HOWEVER, even then, the lid is rubbing up against the face of your rack ears. You can tell because the latches are harder to close with gear in than when it's empty. There should be no difference if it isn't pressing up against the gear. You could carve out the lid, but you shouldn't need to.
The rack is at a fabulous price, and I'd overlook the cosmetic flaws for that. And if you have the right gear and don't mind the lid rubbing up against the edges of your gear, maybe it's fine. But for a lot of gear, it's simply a flawed design that does not qualify as a functioning rack case.

This is a heavy-duy rack and is built to last.
Comments about SKB-R6 U.S. Roto Rack:
This rack case is heavy duty and protects your units very well. Only problem which is a huge problem is I have the 6 space rack and i can only use 4 of the spaces. The inside has a terrible design that pushes down on the units make the top and bottom spaces completely useless. Your best bet is to go with something else.
Comments about SKB-R6 U.S. Roto Rack:
I originally just bought the Musicians Gear Rack Case to house my equipment just because it was cheap, but I quickly realized how un-sturdy it was. It is definitely not for a traveling/touring guitarist. I eventually just sold it and paid the difference for this case & couldn't be happier with it. I got the 6U first, to improve the tone of my amp, but eventually got another 4U & went ahead and got a pre & power amp to use it as a full system as well!! The stackability of these things are near perfect, and while stacked, you really can't even tell that it's 2 different units if you're not paying close attn. And the molded handles on the side are FAR more superior to the bolted on handles of the Musicians Gear case. By far, a great purchase, & the sturdiest case I've seen. I would highly recommend one for any touring guitarists.
Comments about SKB-R6 U.S. Roto Rack:
I just sold this rack unit after 3 years. It held up well. The latches were a little flimsy, but the construction overall is super industrial strength, better than the Gator I had before. It is more bulky. I like the built in handles, one less latch to go bad. I would buy it again.
Comments about SKB-R6 U.S. Roto Rack:
These are not practical cases for mounting medium to large amps or power amps. The floor of the case narrows about where the handles are. This makes it impossible for mounting say, any Marshall power amp, on the lowest space. You will have to move the larger units up at least one space for them to fit and leave the bottom empty with supports needed. Very poor design.

Comments about SKB-R6 U.S. Roto Rack:
The SKB Roto Rack is the best rack case I have ever owned, hands down. I recently bought an eight space for my Mesa Boogie Triaxis and 2:90 power amp which are considerably expensive pieces. I also house the rest of my gear in it. It is built extremely rugged, the pieces fit into securely, and has enough room to easily wire your components and leave them wired. It is such a joy to just have to pop off the front door and plug in. It's a breeze. The heavy duty latches that secure the door to the case for transport are rugged and I can't see myself ever damaging them or any other part of the SKB. The best thing is if I do somehow damage it in ANY WAY it will be replaced for free for the lifetime of the case. That is hard to beat. I will never look at another case ever again. The next time I need a rack case or any other type of case, SKB will be my choice. My gear is expensive and I trust it's protection with SKB.

This is the best rack I have ever owned, bar nun!!! If you are thinking of buying one you wont be disappointed! I have the 10 space now and I am planning on buying a 6 space as well very soon. I feel very secure with my gear in this rack, I wont buy any other rack ever again!!! Worth every penny!!!
