I looked into buying one of these for my Gibson Flying V faded cherry since I bought it used with a gig bag. The case itself is very sturdy and would be the choice for me except that my Flying V is too loose inside the case. There is enough wiggle room for the headstock to touch the end of the case which makes it a deal breaker for me. Flying V's are known for their fragile headstocks so if someone were to mishandle it or if the case took a hard knock the wrong way in transit then the headstock will come in contact with the case. It's too bad really since I think SKB makes an excellent case. If there was some extra padding supplied that could be put in the body area of the case to snug it up a little then this might work for me. Until then I guess I will keep looking.

Pros

  • Easy To Use
  • Functional
  • Good Quality
  • Well built with good fasteners and handle.

Cons

  • Does not completely seal. A 1/16th gap at the V
  • On the tip of the upper V rounded corner bad fit

Best Uses

  • Good protection for your Flying V Guitar.

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

I think there should be another fastener added to this guitar case at the inside of the V, on the handle side. My Gibson Flying V fits OK but there is space at the V, about an inch and a half. And a space at the end of head stock about an inch. Since there is not a Flying V Guitar Case from Gibson (that I could find) this was the best protective case that I could find. Apparently the SKB case was designed to accommodate several different V type guitars. I'm hoping that as the case "settles-in" the seal will close completely at the afore mentioned part of the case. This Guitar Case could be better than it is.

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

My Gibson Flying V is not snug in this thing at all and the guitar rests on the neck under the nut and the tip of its "wings", creating stress on the neck. Also, the handle is not placed well and the case feels unbalanced when carried with the neck half wanting to touch the ground. This case also is huge. I like my other SKB cases for my SG and Les Payl a whole lot better.

100% RECOMMEND THIS SKB V CASE FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT OWN V's. ALL OTHER CASES ARE A WASTE OF TIME MONEY. THIS SKB V CASE WILL LAST AT LEAST 300YRS.

NEGATIVE:IT WILL NOT FIT MY ESP GALDER SHADOW, DUE TO TOP HORN BEING TO LONG FOR CASE. NEGATIVE: ALSO MANY SKB CASES IN AUSTRALIA ARE WAY TO EXPENSIVE.

            I Can Breath Now!!

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

I bought a Gibson Faded V a while back and anybody who owns one of these fine instruments knows what a pathetic case these are shipped with. If it had come wrapped in a towel it wouldn't have been any less protection. The lack of case doesn't take away from the fact that the one i have i will never let go. This SKB case gives it a nice place to hang out while i am away. The top fits nice when you close it and the locks feel pretty solid. There's a slight bit of loose room forward to back and under the neck to body area but this is a universal. Sort've expected that and it is nothing i cant live with. Fits just like the example picture which is exactly what i have. Like the rubber sure grip handle. I opened and close it a few times just to see what my V looked like when i opened the case. My wife left after the 1st couple of sessions. Bless her heart. If you own a Faded V and are scared to take it out of the house with the stock case like i was you need this case. Glad i bought it.

            great for jacksons!!!!!!!

Comments about SKB V-Type Hardshell Guitar Case:

I got this case about 5 days ago and so far I have no complaints. I have a jackson rr3 and it seemed imposible to find a case for it. When I saw this case I immediatley bought it because it said it holds jacksons and sure enough it holds very well. The only problem I have with it is that when I put my guitar in the case the neck rises up a little but that's the only complaint so far.
