OVERVIEW

Clip-on tuner with transpose and more.

The SN-11 from Snark is a fully chromatic clip-on tuner with a large display, a transpose function and even a pitch calibration option. Say you are playing with an upright piano that is about a quarter-tone flat. Simply calibrate the tuner to a note on the piano and the relative tuning adjusts itself. The SN-11 is ideal for guitar, but works well for any stringed instrument and is viable for brass and woodwind as well.

FIX THAT SNARK!!!

Do you have a Snark with the 3 tabs/ears that hold the tuner head on? Is one cracked/broken?
This is for you! Go to youtube and search snark tuner repair (broken clamp). Thank Christopher for posting it. I was able to fix mine. Took about 15 minutes, cost almost nothing, required the intelligence of a child and the skill of a circus monkey. You can do it, trust me.

If you are the type who prefers to send things back for replacement or refund, read no further, I don't want to waste your time.

I play lead guitar and sing in a group twice a week. I do guitar tech work during the week. I have a small shop and fix things, so I fixed my tuner. The slightest amount of unintentional pressure will cause the tabs on the back of the tuner head to crack. Swivel the head too far and it's done.

The tuner works well enough, but the design flaw in the "clamp" holding the head on gets mentioned constantly in reviews. With some sewing thread, super glue, and a dab of oil on the ball (to keep it from sticking) you CAN repair these tuners.
Sure, sure, you can complain all you want about how flimsy Snark makes the 3 little tabs, but you might as well go ahead and fix yours and enjoy using it. That's what I did.
I think if I bought another I would do the fix BEFORE it broke, just to keep from losing one of the tabs. And no, I don't think anyone should HAVE to repair/reinforce a new tuner. (Then again, I just put compensated saddles on my Tele and shielded the thing so now it plays in tune and the hum's gone.) I fix a lot of stuff, sometimes it's just easier to repair and enjoy.

That's the deal with this tuner. I would have sent mine back but it's been too long. Besides, a replacement would have the same problem.

I also have a Digitech pedal tuner on my pedalboard. On nights I don't use the pedalboard I use the Snark, usually once a week, sometimes more.

The Snark tuner itself works well enough, most quartz tuners do (for guitar). I checked out some other brands in a local store, and most seem to have their own peculiar shortcomings. Flimsy build, poor display, hard to mount on headstock and position to read, jumpy readout, etc.
The Snark seems as good as any if you're willing to spend 15 minutes beefing up the tabs that hold the head to the neck. If not, then I would recommend you try another type tuner.
I prefer pedal tuners like my Digitech, but that's like comparing apples to oranges, the Snark is a plastic clip-on quartz tuner, it does it's job, it just needs stronger holding tabs. And IF yours breaks,(which it will), YOU CAN FIX IT.

I love the form factor of these tuners...

I have three Red ones and all are broken.
Could it be a die issue in the casting of the plastic?
Battery life doesn't seem to be that great.

Comments about Snark SN-11 All-Instrument Clip-On Tuner Blue:

I have struggled with tuning my kit ever since I started playing over 10 years ago, II didn't want to spend 50 to 100 on a tool that I didn't understand how to use it. A guitar player in my church band had a snarkk tuner, and on tried in on the kit at church. When I got my own finely, a couple weeks later and tried it. Wow it was a snap! It worked perfectly, and they sound possibly the best they have sounded in a long time. Just on my floor Tom, it was hard to get the clip to attach and still pick up a tone. But when it does it is wright on! For anyone wanting to tune there drums at a bargain of a price they will be hard pressed to find a better value, that WORKS!
I've always tuned them by ear, but I just never felt right about it. When I used it the first time, my ear was close, but the snark was way better

Comments about Snark SN-11 All-Instrument Clip-On Tuner Blue:

I bought this because they were having a crazy good sale. It seemed to work great as a tuner when I first tried it but it broke the second time I took it out on a gig, just trying to adjust the screen so I could see it--the bracket that holds the tuner to the clamp snapped off. I don't know if there is any way to salvage it. So I'd have to recommend looking into something else.

Comments about Snark SN-11 All-Instrument Clip-On Tuner Blue:

I paly a little bar on the water every summer from May-Sept. Although I'm partially covered by an unbrella myself & my equipment get a lot of sun. A lot of display windows on various pieces of equipment are rendered useless by the glare of the sun. I also own a Fishman clip on, while it works good the display window is black text over gray background useless in bright sunlight. The Snark displays are in color over a well lit bright background, red, green and yello are vibrant & easy to see, even if u can't see anything else on the display the green in the center when you're in tune is visable.

I'm quite pleased with this tuner after using the Barcus-Berry. The snark is much more responsive, but it doesn't seem as accurate. I still prefer this tuner because it consistently responds to even the lower strings.
