So I was really really hesitant to purchase this considering how overly expensive they are but I got a great deal on one so I thought I would give it a try. Im a bit biased considering that not only are my drums made by donor, but I have collected all of my hardware from donor also so after purchasing the mojo mayer pedal I wanted to give the giant step single pedal a go to see if it was all they say it is. First is the docking station which is brilliant to put it simply! Once you attach the station you just flick a lever and you can attach and detach the pedal instantly from the station, which is attached to the hoop. This is one of my favorite features. It makes pulling the pedal out for cleaning and adjustments really super easy. Also I didn't really believe the pedal could be all that much smoother and faster than my iron cobras or my mojo mayer but somehow this thing is like hot butter under foot. Lightening fast and super smooth. Last is the build quality. Its gorgeous and built like a tank to say the least. Also, if you like tweaking, this has all of the normal adjustment options you would find on comparable pedals. Now is it expensive?...well yes...slightly too expensive in my opinion considering its still a pedal and nothing else, but this pedal is marketed towards those who may already play the higher end trick or boutique pedals and are already comfortable with dropping upwards of 4-500 on a single pedal. Im not sure if donor is marketing towards a kid looking for a starter pedal for his drum set. You get what you pay for , however it is over priced. Im not sure if any pedal is worth 500.00 for a single pedal but that aside...its awesome! All in all I have to say I was beyond impressed with the giant step single pedal. I have never tried the double or middle pedal versions but if you are looking for a super high end single pedal that you will most likely have for the rest of your years playing drums then I would say this is quite possible that pedal.

I have owned and operated this pedal for more than 5 years and am very happy with it. Though pricey, it will be going strong after all the "also rans" are on the junk pile. The docking system is the most brilliant idea in bass pedals to come along in years. The adjustability is incredible. Get one and take the next Giant Step for mankind!
A positive surprise. German engineering strikes again. Very smooth action. Feels at least as good to play as my old DW 5000 Accelerator pedal. I actually bought this pedal because I am interested in the Giant Step Middle pedal (a double pedal with the beaters centered between the two pedals) and I wanted to try the single pedal before I order the (quite expensive) Middle pedal. Based on a review of the Giant Step Middle Pedal, I was expecting the feel of the Giant Step to be a bit "heavy" and quite different from that of my DW Accelerator. In that review, the author, Rick Van Horn, points out that the Giant Step does not have an eccentric drive and suggests that the pedal may therefore not suit those players who are used to a pedal with eccentric drive (like the DW Accelerator). However, I did not experience this difference at all. After making a few adjustments of the beater throw and footboard angle, the Giant Step felt very similar to the Accelerator, and at least as good. Also, I love the Smart Connect clamping system, which allows you to snap the pedal onto the base drum in a split second. The quality is top notch, as it should for that price. In fact, my only complaint about this pedal is the price.
I recently bought this pedal and I love it. It's both quiet and smooth, which is what I was really looking for. My only complaint is that I think it's a bit overpriced. Though it's a great pedal, there are probably other great pedals out there for less money. What made it worth it to me, though, is the docking station. That can really save your kick drum hoop. Over all, I'd highly recommend it.
