I bought this for my daughter's Ludwig set, as her drum teacher wanted her to start learning some double pedal techniques. The pedal came mostly assembled, but had no instructions with it (Musician's friend: please get a tech in on this). It only took a short time to assemble, but you will probably have to move a few things around in your kit, in order to place the pedal and give a clear route for the driveshaft between the pedals. The two extra screws in the kit are used as extra locks on the ends of the shaft, once you have it in position. Just a note, if your bass drum hoop is not a flat surface where the pedal clamps on (the Ludwig hoop has a groove around it inside and out), you may have to use something as a spacer, so that the clamp has something to press on, and doesn't just try to lift up the drum when you tighten it. If you have a friend who's savvy with drum hardware, they should be able to help you with any problems you run into. The beaters are OK, but are not adjustable for angle. I bought a set of Tama beaters, and these are adjustable. So far it's looking and working good. It seems smooth and quiet, and the pedal action between the two seems fairly even. It even looks like the bearings in this unit are replaceable, if it wears out. Definitely a good buy.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

I've used Iron Cobras, axis longboards, and DW 2000's. I had to sel my pedals and go back to a single for the band I joined. I decided to get this one to keep in practice with the double bass. I would put these right up there with all of those. For the price, these are AMAZING pedals. Very smooth, very adjustable, little recoil. I hate when you're double bassing too fast and the pedals hit the top of your foot. That doesn't happen with these pedals. If you're looking for quality on a budget, GET THESE PEDALS!! You won't regret it!!

Great Pedal for the Money

By Tama Nut

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

If you are broke... Buy it, if not get a Iron Cobra. But $80 vs. $400 is quite a difference for most people.
I bought this pedal to use on my practice kit, and the price was what got me to buy it... I didn't expect much but was hoping it would at least do the job. I was DEFINITELY surprised at how solid it is, and the action is pretty decent, I wont be replacing my Iron Cobra with this one any time soon, but if your looking for a decent pedal, and price is a factor then I would recommend it, and to get the drop clutch to boot makes it a great deal.
Solid.. beaters come loose sometimes, but not a big deal.
Smokin Deal!

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

I would recomend this product.
The bass drum attachment plate is low profile wich is great for my DM10 studio kit. and the drop clutch is great for my accustic kit.
I've only used it a couple of times but so far I like it way better then my GP. It really stays in place.
This was a great deal.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

If you can deal with fixing it everyday buy it, if not, don't buy it.
It is good for a year, then the left pedal got jammed and stuck on the drum.I thought it would be normal, then it happened so many times that I got it checked, fixed, and broke even more.Don't buy!
Only good for a year.
If it's this cheap, don't buy.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

ive had thease pedals for about a few months now and i have to say, they are not the best. to start thease are my first double bass pedals. when i first took them out of the box and put them on my set and adjusted them to my liking the bar that conects the left pedal keept coming loose, also the sensetivity on thease pedals are horbile and they suck for continuous beats. also another isue i had was after like an month of owning them i noticed that the left pedal started to get lower. also the chain for the left pedal keept coming off. but, overal pretty decent pedals. if you want to get into double bass and dont want to spend a whole lot then by all means buy thease pedals because after you do......... EVERY OTHER PEDALS WILL FEEL LIKE THE BEST PEDALS IN THE WORLD!!!!!

SP Double Bass and Drop Clutch

By Sean Greenleaf

from Pennsylvania

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

The system seems to be holding together fairly well. It was difficult to adjust at first. The limited distance of the pedals may be an issue for taller players. Overall it seems solid and has held up well so far.
Nice tension system.
Seems to be holding up fairly well.
You get what you pay for. It feels failry solid.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

My grandson loves the doube bass drum pedal. It was a great price and if it holds up it is really a terrific deal. I don't have any experience with drum equipement, hence the ratings of 7. I didn't want to mislead anyone, but I am very satisfied and you got it to us very quickly.

Thank you.

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS

By Jordan Green

from west virginia princeton

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

honestly right down to the point it would be better to take the extra step & get a speed cobra cuz this thing will not give ou much speed it will slow you down more then you give you speed
the features are not ever close to good it lags so bad it will almost make you slower its tension is way to weaknot very good
the only good quality is it can last a real long time and take damage to but it doesn,t really glide well it is not smoth but very hard to get fast with this pedal not a wise choice for intense speed
for its price it is a good base pedal but after using it for 2 yrs it does not seem so amazing

Don't go spend a lot of money on other pedals, I've used brands from Iron Cobra, to Axis they are all really the same. If you want to be faster and have a solid punch in your kick, use ankle weights to strength and condition your legs.

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

I am a intermediate drummer and I have been playing since 11 years old and I am now 13 therefore I have acquired many fundamental skills. When I first got this I was skeptical on whether it would work or not since its so cheap... and it came out to impress. It is amazing and it works on my electric drumset to. It will take a little adjusting at first though. And there are no directions but its fairly easy to figure out. This pedal will give you that nice heavy metal bass and it is plain out amazing. If i were to sell it i would sell it atleast at $170 but at this price its just a steal. It is incredibly durable too! I have done many gigs with it and it is still in top shape. This surpasses the Iron Cobra by far. Get it while its still in stock!

Comments about Sound Percussion Labs Double Bass Drum Pedal With Included Hi-Hat Drop Clutch:

Been playing 45 years and bought this for a back-up since I rarely, if ever, need a double pedal. Sold my last one one, a $420 DW 8002. Got this used/like new here super cheap due to damaged box. this has all the necessary adjustments and above average quality. Works fine after correct set-up. An owner's manual should be provided for inexperienced players because failure to set this up correctly could result in parts failures, difficulty playing and extreme customer dissatisfaction. My only comlaint is just an individual preference. The beaters are so light compared to the DWs I'm used to that it's taking some getting used to even after adding beater weights (not included). I also chose to fabricate a matching plate for the bottom of the right pedal to increase stability (the screw holes are already there). Great overall pedal.
