This stand will do everything you need it to do. I usually purchase Gibraltar hardware but I bought this item for a beginners set that I use to teach on. I wouldn't be ashamed to use it on my high dollar maple kit.
For the money I don't think you could get a nicer stand anywhere. It's nice to find quality like this in a low cost piece of hardware.
I love to find a good deal and this is one! I'd have to rate this item at the top.

I've had a lot of snare stands in 46 years of playing. And here's what really hurts the overall rating for me. This stand was the perfect answer for my 10" side-snare. I wouldn't recommend it for anything else however. It's too lightweight, not bottom-heavy enough. And when the legs are extended far enough out, the brace angles are just not right to make a heavier drum steady. It would also look like a miniature stand compared to a bigger drum. The parts are well-made, just to thinner specs even though the main tube diameters are standard sized. I wouldn't even consider trying my 17 pound Tama Lars Ulrich or DW 8x14 on it. I am very grateful that previous reviewers mentioned that it will work with a 10" drum.
Excellent basket arm set-up. Great features overall for an inexpensive stand. It would have been outstanidng to have the other half of what looks like half an integrated memory lock on the main tube.
The quality itself is excellent. Good plating and parts well-fitted especially for an inexpensive stand. The wing nuts and wing screw are quite small and light compared to the rest of the stand though.
It's priced about right for what you get compared to other full-sized, heavier stands.

Like the others I also had same prob with stand spinning and lowering on its own. So far have it rigged up with some tape to keep it from lowering. Spend a little more on something better.

Good for smaller snares, and practice pads. not much else...

By Jared Schlitt

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

I really do enjoy the quality of this snare stand for the price. I use it for my practice pad so I can be a bit lazy and not have to switch out my snare (lolz). It's a great product, but one thing I'm not so satisfied with is that the snare basket is tilted to the left a little bit. It tends to make it feel kind of awkward. It's decently heavy, but depending on the size of your snare, I wouldn't put too much weight on it. If you're running low on cash, and need (or want) a seperate snare stand to permanentally keep your practice pad on, go for it.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

The rubber pads on the snare holder held my kit firmly and without over-clamping the adjuster. The tilt and height adjusters were firm but not marring the stand even with tight clamping.
I kept and open mind when I ordered this stand. But when it arrived, I was floored by how solid and well built this stand was. I am using this stand to support my digital drum kit I got for Christmas and it sure beats trying to play it on my footstool ! It was truly a great value for the money.
I would rate it a solid 5 stars

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

Do not expect this stand to be as solid as your $100+ snare stands. However, you will not find a better stand for the money! I will be buying more of these in the future as I find these are better than spending hundreds, especially when you are gigging. Great value stand.

I purchased this stand for my Korg Wavedrum. I am very happy I spent little to get a lot. Holds the Korg Wavedrum perfect. The height adjustment is perfect for the sitting drummer. If you are looking for a stand that is tall enough to use standing, this is not for you.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

This stand is great since it has an adjustable span of the arms that hold the snare - you can bring the arms close to the snare just by rotating a wing nut on the neck right underneath the arms, keeping the snare nice and snug. I don't normally beat my snare incredibly hard, so I'm not sure of the exact limits of this stand, but it definitely seems quite durable for the price; and hey if it breaks, I wouldn't lose much sleep over it. It would just go to show that something a bit more expensive would fit your playing style, although it can't hurt to try this for the price.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

i bought two of these stands for just [$] on sale! i now mount a secondary snare and a 12" tom on this stand. they hold nice and firmly, and when you flatten the base out for larger heights and toms, it holds those steadily too! very impressed with the quality for such a low price. of course, they're not AMAZING, but for [$] each, you cant go too wrong. if you need a cheap snare stand that's functional, sturdy, and adjustable, this is the one for you.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

Nice double braced stand that does the job. I have other SP double braced stands on my kits and thus far never a problem. Cannot attest to suitability for gigging, but for studio or home use where it will remain in a fixed location for extended period, it works just fine and for the price is tough to beat.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

I use this stand for my stand alone 13" tom. Like a number of reviewers, I found that the main tube clamp does not tighten enough to securely hold the riser tube. I use a memory clamp to prevent up and down movement, and a little duct tape at the point of clamping to prevent rotation. With a little modification, it works fine. I wouldn't want to use it for my snare.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

Got this 2 days ago and have the same problem as below. No matter how much I tighten the riser, it revolves, which doesn't exactly make for a Zenlike relationship with my snare. The stand also lowers with a minimum of pressure. I've always found other Sound Percussion products to be very reliable and am very disappointed.

Comments about Sound Percussion SP880SS Double-Braced Snare Stand:

Great stand for the price! The only issue I have with this stand is that the tube on the basket is quite a bit smaller than the receiving hole on the base. This requires what I consider over tightening to keep the basket stable. Hopefully this won't cause stripping of the tensioning wing bolt. Time will tell.

this was a used blowout on a pretty cheap stand so I wasn't expecting much, I already have one. The stand that showed up was a single braced Yamaha "student" stand and won't hold a 14" snare drum as the grips don't widen enough. Other than that it's a nice little stand and it holds a 13" tom quite well, so I'm okay with it. The stand would hold a small snare (like the "Little Squealer" from Pork Pie) quite well for little money, it just won't hold a normal sized snare.
