Great sturdy stand. I wish it came a little further out from the mic stand so I could tilt it back more. It seems to turn in all sorts of directions but there's only one combination of twists and turns where it actually can hold up music when attached to a vertical stand. It's not as "universal" as I'd hoped. Nonetheless it works and works well.

The arm that connects to the mic stand is too short, so the actual page holder cannot be angled very far.

The bolt that connects the page holder to the arm came stripped, right out of the package. I was VERY careful to turn slowly and straight, however it is made of a cheaper metal and is either designed to small, or they stripped it prior to shipping.

I used a wire twist-tie to help tighten the bolt, but it still did a lousy job.

I checked the female threads, and they are perfect - only the bolt is the problem, so I will try to find a replacement bolt to fit.

Nice quality. Compact, great for small rehearsal areas. Threaded wheel attaching to mic stand may be too small if stand has small diameter. Pleased with it so far.

Comments about Stagg Universal Clamp-On Music Stand:

The clamp-on idea was inviting, and this stand did fit the bill. I already had a mic stand, and this Stagg clamps on easily with a screw-type attachment. the clamp comes off the back of the holder, for easy transport. It easily holds a full notebook of music, and keeps the stage clearer underfoot. I like it enough to use at home too.

I carry this in a gig bag, easy to set up. It does clamp up tight, but it would be nicer if it could be clamped a titch tighter. Metal construction that is heavy enough without being bulky or awkward.

Comments about Stagg Universal Clamp-On Music Stand:

I bought the small stand, because I needed something to hold a couple of my Effects Units which need to be in easy reach. I did find, however.... that the "V" bracket on back of stand which slips into the companion bracket on the arm assembly does NOT fit well! After sliding the two brackets all the way together.... (there is a stop tang at the bottom), and tightening the thumbscrew, the companion bracket still appears it could slip off! I will probably drill and screw these two pieces together so that can't happen. For what I am using this for, it seems like it will work well. For the price, I did not find any other comparable stand so would recommend it if you don't mind doing a modification or two.

One of the pieces wouldn't tighten completely. When I unscrewed it, I noticed that about a third of the circumference of the threads were not tapped all the way down. So, essentially, I was turning the threads into a flat surface when it got down that far. Currently waiting for the replacement...

Comments about Stagg Universal Clamp-On Music Stand:

I have a stand like this already and like it. I saw these and ordered one. Seemed like a reasonable price. I found that the nut would not tighten on the bottom of the music holder and I had not even used the stand. Upon closer inspection I found that the female threads on the holder had not been machined properly and the male threaded part would run past the female threads. What should have been a tight fit, ends up being loose and unstable.

Seems to be a common problem if you read the other feedback.

The stand it self is made well, but anything threaded is cheap.I stripped the nut on the bottom of the music holder, and had not even used the stand yet.I advise anyone that buys this stand to tighten with caution ar you'll end up gerry rigging it or throwing it out.

Comments about Stagg Universal Clamp-On Music Stand:

I, sometimes, need to use a music stand. While I prefer to not use them on stage, as much as possible, there are some situations where I need one. It can be difficult to to keep my traveling footprint as small and portable as possible when everything I have fits nicely into the case I use to transport my equipment, EXCEPT for that big Manhasset or On-Stage stands, music stand, I occasionally, need. A big music stand like that, even when compacted down to its smallest size, needs to be bungie-corded down on my gig cart and yet, due to its unwieldy nature, it STILL manages to flop around and shift its position (sometimes to the point of moving sideways and blocking my cart's access to doors or entranceways). This Stagg Universal Clip-On Music Stand is part of my solution to this dilemma. As a keyboard player I must carry a keyboard stand. For my ease of moving things, I got a local fiber board (the stuff that a lot of drum cases are made from) manufacturer to make me a case for all of my keyboard accessories like stand, bench, pedals, etc (I highly recommend keyboard players have some type of box like this made for them - it keeps all of the things you need in one, compact place and keeps them from shifting around on your cart). If you buy a few extra adapter pieces you can use your keyboard stand to hold this Stagg music stand. The pieces you need are the On-Stage Stands Universal Keyboard Mic Attachment Bar (KSA7575) and either a hollow tube X-type keyboard stand or an On-Stage Stands KS7150 Platform Keyboard Stand. Using the Universal Keyboard Mic Attachment Bar (KSA7575) with a KS7150 Platform Keyboard Stand, this Stagg stand sits a little low for me, so I would also recommend an Atlas Sound AD8B, 6" Long 5/8"-27m (mic pole extender piece) and an Atlas Sound AD5B Female 5/8"-27m , coupler, to raise the Stagg stand a few more inches. So far, I haven't gigged out much with this KS7150/KSA7575/Stagg Universal Clip-On Music Stand but it appears to be quite sturdy.

I use this to hold the drum machine used in our acoustic duo and it works like a charm. We attached it to the main post of a mic stand after removing the gooseneck attachment. Since we sit when we play, it's at the perfect height for our needs.

I am in the praise band at church. I also monitor our X32 mixer from the stage via I-pad. This stand was purchased to hold the I-pad. It does an OK job, but it is a little weak for the weight of the I-pad. The stand has to be used in portrait orientation. I use the I-pad in landscape mode, so it overhangs the sides. It would be nice to offer the other option when purchasing. The attachment of the holder to the bracket is not solid (e.g. bolts and nuts), but rather fits in a wedged piece that makes the physical connection rely on gravity. I realize that the unit was designed for a couple of sheets of music, but with a little improvement it could go to 5 stars.

Comments about Stagg Universal Clamp-On Music Stand:

I use this stand to hold lyrics and set lists while rehearsing. The smaller version will not hold 2 sheets of paper side by side. This stand will work good for multiple sheets of paper - possible an ipad (not sure, I bought another stand for that). The clamp to hold it onto the mic stand seems to be just enough, but I could see the need to replace it in the FAR future. I have made several adjustments and it seems to be sturdy. They could have put a larger plastic or rubber foot on the screw that makes contact with the mid stand, but it works good for its intent.

I love that the stand is directly in front of me while playing
However, I think mine is faulty since the screw seemed to be stripped before I used it making the Stand wobble. I now have to glue part of it in order to use it.

I found that the screw that holds the up right arm would not titen so I had to epoxy it to make it hold

OK I was a little nervous getting this with the bad reviews but It seemed like the best option. I got past the two flaws most people brought up pretty quickly a don't see how a third comes into play. The biggest issue you folks seemed to have is the larger threaded connection to the sheet holder. Turn the knob all the way in and then turn the top part! It works folks. The bigger issue for me was the fact I'm clamping this to a boom stand that is skinny. You run out of thread before you get enough bite on the tube. I stuck a 1/4" thick chunk Of rubber in the V of the clamp and problem solved. The third issue people had was not getting the right angle with a boom stand which I just don't get. It works fine.
