Comments about String Swing Wood Guitar Wall Hanger w/ Wall Bumper:
So pretty much as expected, the product as described on the web was a bit too good to be true. I also bought four of them and are currently using them to hang my entire collection on the wall above my bed so it's not like I hated them. And yes, I've got to trust these will hold weight, especially since one of my babies is a '67 Guild SF Six and she's heavy.
You definitely don't need the wall bumper, unless you're hanging these super low, or plan on placing the guitars into their holders from above. The bumper is also about 2 inches across and so ENTIRELY out of proportion with the picture in this description. Also, my level of confidence in the adhesive on those bumpers is definitely not high.
So, as far as installation goes, I've screwed these into really solid, old and thick plaster. Stuff that's nearly impossible to pound a nail into in the first place (I live in an ancient building). This I think, is the only reason my guitars haven't fallen off the wall, because I haven't used the drywall installation brackets! Here's why.
I tried following the directions which say to screw in the screw and then take it out, using the hole created to place the drywall adapter. However due in part to the hardness of my plaster, but due also to the complete flimsyness of the drywall mounts, and the insane suggestion that the hole the screw makes will somehow accomodate a piece of plastic ten times its diameter, the first couple mounts I tried to put in broke and I just set aside the rest. I imagine you could theoretically use them, but you will need drywall almost as soft as sand, and you will DEFINITELY need a drill with much bigger bits than the size of the included screws. If however, you know where your wall members are, just screw into those and save yourself the headache. I imagine the mounts will be much more secure that way.
Speaking of those screws, I didn't use them either, since the last half inch or so before the flat-top wasn't threaded. I needed all the thread I could get screwing into plaster alone (as I have no clue where my wall braces are, did I mention my place is ANCIENT). Instead I used similar screws that were threaded their entire length, so as to get maximum bite on the plaster. SO far no issues, though I'm being pretty gentle.
I did also want to mention, yes the holders are theoretically adjustable, but no, you will not be able to adjust them unless you've been woking out your hand with a grip tightener, and/or working out your trapezius muscles with one of those huge ridiculous springs.
My bottom line recommendation therefore, comes with significant caveats and reservations.
So there, hope that helps.
Pros
- Holds Items Securely
- Stable
Cons
- Bumber is tiny
- Confusing options
- Sticks out too far

Comments about String Swing Wood Guitar Wall Hanger w/ Wall Bumper:
These hangers are nice, and obviously built in the USA (only because of the high price). The wood would have been nicer without a logo on it. The bumper shown in the picture is actually less than 3 inches in length and about an inch wide. Don't let the picture or price fool you. If you buy the bumper separately, at just under $4, you'll be very disappointed. There is a confusing list of guitar options. One is for solid-body, which MF doesn't seem to stock. not sure if that option would be better, because this hanger is really optimal for acoustic guitars, not electrics and basses. Otherwise, the hanger holds the weight nicely, and looks attractive. Non-refundable, although MF may make an exception, if these are unopened.
Comments about String Swing Wood Guitar Wall Hanger w/ Wall Bumper:
I now own 3 of these and they are really well made, sturdy, nice looking -- highly recommended if you want to display your instrument on your wall. I definitely play it more when it's out of its case.
Comments about String Swing Wood Guitar Wall Hanger w/ Wall Bumper:
A great deal for the money.
Everything about the wall hanging system was perfect. Using a drill, drill bit, crosstip driver bit, and a level - The hanger was securelely attachrd and ready for my guitar in 5 easy minutes. My guitars look great displayed beautifully on the wall of my home studio...and safely out of the dusty floor.
I give the wall hangers a ten, the bump stops a nine...The doublesided tape attached to the bump stop will not stay attached The tape sticks nicely to the wall, but the bump stop falls loose from the tape to the floor. Suggest anyone buying the bump stops purchase more doublesided tape and remove the existing tape for a better result.
A great value.
Comments about String Swing Wood Guitar Wall Hanger w/ Wall Bumper:
I've got five of them. They work great, went on the wall easily, assembled easily. Absolutely no problems what so ever with these hangers. My only beef is that the bumpers didnt come with them when I bought them.
Guitar Hanger. Whattya want?
Had them a couple of years. So far, so good.
Not a bad price for keeping my Axe Collection out of the crummy floor stands and off the ground.
Comments about String Swing Wood Guitar Wall Hanger w/ Wall Bumper:
I was not able to take up the rubber tips at the ends of the hook so I could put on the rubber rings shown in the picture. Without these rings, the guitar is not stable. I finally had to cut of the tips with a razor so I could put on the rings. They did not fit snuggly so I also had to use glue to get them firmly in place. After all of that, I am still not completely secure with how this string swing holds my Les Paul.
