Overall, it's an awesome desk for the price. Hands down! Gives plenty of room and is very versatile. Fits in small spaces all while organizing your equipment.

I highly recommend this desk!
The best way to put it....simple and effective. The pull-out keyboard holder is really handy and comfortably fits my Apple wireless keyboard and mouse. I put my midi keyboard on top of the desk where it fits perfectly! The rack mount is sturdy and can fit just enough racks. My monitor fits great on top of the rack, the sides have a good amount of space for monitors, but could maybe be a bit longer. And the very bottom piece under the desk has enought space to fit some random stuff on it and a subwoofer.
The wood is not wood. Its just a laminant over top of particle board (which I hope you already know by just looking at the pictures and price).

The metal is plenty sturdy and not some plastic crap.

The desk is made in CA then shipped to the Musicians Friend warehouse is MO and then shipped to NJ where I live so after all the shipping in the original box it took some damage. A few of the corners are chipped. I did not ship back because it would be too expensive and I would just be taking another chance of receiving another one chipped.

As the old saying goes...you get what you pay for.....BUT with this desk you do get more than what you pay for!
You can't beat the price!

It does the job by organizing all your basic studio equipment and provides a great setup for a beginner or advanced studio engineer.

Let me start off by saying that I am pretty satisfied with this desk - It has some nice features for the price, and it fits my setup perfectly (I have a 49-key keyboard that fits the main shelf perfectly, and a 4U rack computer that fits in the rack just above that shelf). Now my complaints... This desk took me 4 hours to build because of screw holes that were not drilled properly. I'm an average-strength guy, and I enlisted the help of my very big very strong friend and the screws still gave us hell. This may sound like a small issue, but when you're dealing with 50+ screws it starts to hurt (my hands still feel like theyre going to bleed). So in conclusion I'm fairly happy with my purchase, but the company ought to be called Studio RTAP (ready to assemble with pain)... but then again the price tag leaves it with the 5 stars and average overall rating. Good luck!

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I had the difficult job of taking a room size studio and compressing it down into a VERY small space. The RTA turned out to be a perfect solution for this.Construction is very solid, and far exceeds my expectations. Design is very efficient. Here's what mine holds: a quad 15" monitor which fits perfectly on the top shelf. Mic and audio processing plus video interfaces in the rack. 2 desktop computers on the bottom shelf. 4 (yes 4) netbooks which are used to handle Skype calls on the top shelf and main desktop. An Arrakis ARC-8 broadcast board on the main desktop. 2 mini keyboards on the pull-out.Huge amount of gear, lots of wiring, and well handled by this very small desk. Made easy to handle by the casters, which make access easy. I'm buying a second just to have on hand.

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I read the reviews on this product, but had to find out for myself. Maybe I was fortunate to get a good one...I don't know. It was well packed. The box was beat up pretty bad, but all the contents were in great shape. I've been a professional musican for many years. I'm still a novice to intermediate when it comes to recording. Although I sing and play bass, my forte is still drumming. I needed something I could put right beside my kit along with my computer, hardware and software. That way I can put on my headphones, conveniently hit record, and my session begins. So for me, this workstation is ideal. It's very sturdy and has locking wheels. The only thing that might be a problem for some people is the lack of space for monitor placement. I had to sell my monitors and get smaller ones. For some people, this can be a big deal. For me, however, it wasn't. I didn't like my old monitors anyway.

damaged in transit

By Bob Ingram

from Tennessee

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

Worth getting for the money and function provided but do not expect it to arrive in good shape. I took a chance after reading other reviewers describing shipping damage and did not get lucky.
Well designed and easy to assemble with all holes lining up. Poorly designed packaging with a damaged desktop and bent metal side and back screens upon receipt.

budget desk, budget price, if your on a budget.

By Anonymous

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

Well, if you're on a tight, tight budget then I suppose this desk is semi-worthwhile. If you're looking for anything above mediocre quality then you're looking in the wrong place. Cheap compressed wood, faux mica finish, cheap (light-weight-withstanding) casters, thin metal bends easily, poor hardware = poor bracing.Design is not very flattering, Screen sits very high, keyboard shelf not sturdy. Bought it for the budget, and a year later I'm tossing it as it has LITERALLY fallen apart from NORMAL use.

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

My only complaint is about UPS. I ordered on a Friday and knew I'd have to wait the weekend before they'd ship. However, it's beyond me how the item can be "out for delivery" at 4:21am and is not delivered until 5:30pm. That's a super long day for that driver. PLUS, because of lack of consciousness, the box got wet and the main piece of particle board inside the box got wet. Hopefully it dries w/o buldging, cracking, dissentigrating, etc. I half-way expected the thing to be partially destroyed because of all the reviews about the shipping. But, it arrived in good condition other than that piece getting wet. If it doesn't dry out very well I'll return it and complain vocally about UPS not taking care of the packages they're delivering.

      Great Desk for the money

      By Theremin

      from Nashville, TN

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

Very good value desk for the money. Only improvments that could be made are, maybe add a side rack for a computer tower. Also the top shelf is a bit strained under a 22"CRT monitor. Would be fine for an LCD, but you will need a big monitor as it is up and back a bit to give you the needed desk space. This desk is worth every penny, especially with the extra rack mount power conditioner MF is throwing in.S!

Great little studio for the money

      By Greatfull Dads

      from No. Ogden, UT

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

This is a great little studio desk for those of us on a budget. Has all the features you can use in a small studio. Just enough room in the rack to get you started. Mine holds 2 15" LCD monitors with no problem. My only complaint is the height of the monitors.. but then.. you wouldn't be able to get all your rack gear you want in the desk. So it's a toss. The quality and workmanship was excellent compared to other "desk in a box" I have assembled. Very sturdy and I'm sure it will hold up for years to come. A great value for the money.. I was so pleased with the first I bought a second for my room. . Overall.. The best value for the money in a studio desk.

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I ordered this desk from Musicians Friend. It was broken when it arrived. I did an exchange and a week later a got another one broken in the same place. I did another exchange and got it with all of the pieces in one piece. It was pretty easy to assemble, and it feels fairly sturdy. I would suggest monitor stands if you are really planning on making this a mix station. In all it is an alright desk especially for the money.

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I just got the desk a few days ago and at first very skeptical. BUT...I took my time putting it together so about 2 hours while watching a movie did it. I got it together and thought that maybe it may not work, it did...perfectly. I only required space for three rack mounted hardware items and the space is great for a controller keyboard (M-Audio Ozonic) but a full size would not fit. if i had one suggestion TAKE YOUR TIME AND READ THE DIRECTIONS. Lastly, use a few of the plastic washer to buffer between the metal panels and metal tubes to avoid metal vibration if you like to bump stuff. I am enjoying it now

      Room for Monitors

      By Jared Hendricks

      from Eugene, OR

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I bought this online based on the picture shown and the desciption. As you can see in the picture the monitors being used fit nicely on the desk next to the top shelf. Beware, however, that unless you have MA-10s or something similar, your monitors will likely not fit. I have Alesis MKIIs and had to leave the top shelf off the desk to accommodate them. That said, the top shelf, assembled, makes a nice little table to have next to my desk for things I don't want near my gear. If you have speaker stands or small monitors this is a fantastic desk: heavy-duty, has wheels (nice for getting back to all those wires), and is NOT difficult to assemble.

      Good Desk, Lousy Instructions

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

This thing's a great, solid desk and it's easy on the eyes. The directions are terrible, though. Be aware that sometimes they say "bolt" when they mean "screw" and they don't do much to distinguish between sizes of screws. Took me a long time to put together, even with a drill-powered screwdriver. It's definitly worth it, though. Great value.

      Well Worth It

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

This table is very, very dope. And the guy above me was right, the measurements on the main desk are off because I fit a 61 key midi keyboard on here with no problem. So instead of it being 35-36 inches, it's more like 40 inches. READ the instructions and save yourself the headache. It's not difficult to put together but if you don't pay close attention to every little detail, you will have to unscrew alot! Overall, this is a very good buy but since there wasn't enough space for my MPC4000, I bought a mixer stand for it and it stands right next to the desk. It keeps everything in a very nice, well kept space & it definintely seems that it'll hold it's value for a while. Good stuff

      Very Good Desk

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I've had mine for a couple years now and have had no problems with it at all. Putting it together took a couple hours but I haven't had to worry about it since. I guess only issue was that mine arrived with some bent pieces that I should've sent back. Since I was in too much of a hurry to get my studio up and running, I improvised. Don't do that. Anyway, for 2 years now, this desk has been a sturdy staple in my home studio. If I were to complain at all, I would say that the monitor stand is too high. I find myself looking up at it which isn't the most ergonomically safe way to go. Other than that, this desk has exceeded my expectations. Great Value.

Good quality for a good price

      By Mike C.-lDosl

      from grand rapids, MI

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

The first thing I noticed when I got this desk was its weight. Unlike a lot of lower end furniture that you get, which wobbles and shakes even after you put it together, the metal legs and the heavy bottom shelf holds the whole thing together veey well. The hardware was well organized and the installation process was very easy, though I would recommend a power screwdriver. My only complaint is that the space on either side of the rack is rather small, and will only fit small speakers.

      One Incredibly Frustrating Flaw

      By chris.-ZjoZR

      from Buffalo, NY

Comments about Studio RTA Mix Station:

I bought this desk with the intention of eventually setting up a small studio. That's sort of been forgotten thanks to becoming very busy so I've started using it as an ordinary computer desk. It went together pretty quickly and it's a great size for a desk. My only real complaint is that the keyboard shelf DOES NOT LOCK in place, meaning that if you plan to rest your wrists on the shelf then it will go sliding in. Same for the trackball that I use. In fact I'm writing this review because this situation has just caused me to become frustrated enough to throw my headphones against the wall, shattering them into many pieces. Do not plan to use this keyboard shelf for anything other than light typing. It will get to you.
