i like this product, even tho it is not super portable. I'm never quite sure where to put this thing when I'm carrying my stand and instrument case. I usually wind up attaching it to the stand and hope it doesn't fall off during transport. It's a sturdy product tho and I love having my drink off the floor, not getting kicked over. I think sizing is the biggest issue with this product as others have said. I thought I had measured carefully before I ordered but I found that getting the right size was not so easy and that while this product and the bigger cup holder give a range of diameters that it "fits", it really only fits ideally on a particular diameter. Otherwise it's either too loose or just won't go on. The bigger drink holder wants to shimmy a bit down the larger diameter of the bottom pole of my regular mic stand, so I ordered this regular size one to see if it would fit snugly on the smaller diameter of the upper pole of my mic stand...no dice. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a stand skinny enough for this one. It's not worth bothering to pay to ship this back, so I'm gonna gift it to the first person I see who has a stand that it will fit on. I can use it currently when I just use a portable camera stand that holds my iPad. The drink holder is not super stable hooked onto it but it won't fall and does the job.

Unless you read the fine print you wouldn't know that this product is NOT a "microphone stand drink holder"--- it only fits small-diameter stands like drummers have (cymbal stand). Or maybe a music stand. Apparently, for a normal mic stand (>3/4") you need to order the "bigger" SwirlyGig. Shame on Musician's Friend for not making this clear. While it was discouraging to find out the product was useless, MF gave me a refund, no problem.

Will not fit stands larger than 1/2 inch. I did not notice this in the product description. I intended to use it on a music stand larger than 1/2 inch. The packaging from the manufacturer states most 1/2 inch stands. I've customized mine to work.

Comments about SwirlyGig Microphone Stand Drink Holder:

One thing I found handy is to take a bottle opener on a small key ring and hang it on the bottom of the holder by putting the ring a couple of turns into the bottom of the spiral. It's always there for me when I'm at a party or rehearsal where my beer isn't already opened for me.
Everyone has already covered the main points - very handy, may bind on larger bottles or cups, and this model fits only the upper shaft of the mic stand, so get the bigger one for music stand or a fatter mic stand.

Comments about SwirlyGig Microphone Stand Drink Holder:

This is really a great product for not too much money. The only complaint that I have is that a plastic water bottle tends to hang up when you try to remove it. I think that the plastic wants to grab the coating that is put on this device. A beer bottle or a can will work just fine. Other than that it's a darned good idea. They make another one that looks like it's chrome with no coating in the area where the drink container sets this may solve this problem. Might be worth a try.

Comments about SwirlyGig Microphone Stand Drink Holder:

This product is worth about three times as much as it costs; it keeps your equipment safe from spills and your singers hydrated (or drunk). They easily attach to boom stands with no slippage, and securely held both bottles and solo cups. Cans and smaller plastic cups wobble a little if they don't touch the sides, but can't tip far enough in either direction to spill unless you fill them to the brim. If you're too rough you could possibly bend the gripping bit of it when taking it on and off the stand, but the material is very durable in my experience so far.I first used a pair of these for an outdoor musical picnic, and literally every band on the bill commented on their handiness. Note that the bottom of the holder is a ring with a relatively small diameter, which means you can also use this to hold capos, tuners, harmonicas, shakers, and other handy gadgets.

I always need alcohol. Especially for the gigs where we get paid in free drinks (I want to get a proper salary after all) and when the fans are mostly middle school girls and I just can't bear to face the reality of my life. As you might imagine, since this thing came out it's been my dream come true. I never gig without my swirlygig.

            Super Great Invention

Comments about SwirlyGig Microphone Stand Drink Holder:

I have used the Swirly Gig for about 3 years now and like it. Here's a couple of things tho... When you remove a glass or can from it, the swirly gig vibrates and resonates to the Mic Stand which then resonates to the Mic...announcing to the crowd that you have removed your drink. Next, don't use styrofoam cups... the styrofoam sticks to the rubber and if you try to push it out from the bottom, you will poke a hole in the bottom of the cup and all of your drink rushes out on the floor, your pedals, floor monitor etc...But other than that, it's great!

The SwirlyGig beverage holders are great. They mount easily to a mic stand and they are deep enough to hold a pint glass without worry.

Didn't think it was going to fit on my microphone stand because it had a glob of rubber in the spiral that attaches to the stand, but it works okay. Not a big enough problem to send it back. Sloppy, but acceptable.
