Okay so I was having problems with getting my snare muffled. I tried the 0 rings and they worked for awhile but I still wasnt getting what I wanted out of it. One day I went down to the local music store and one of the drummers down there showed me this and I loved it. I was actually looking into installing a muffler in the snare but this is better....it's easier....and it muffles when you strike the snare and when it bounces back up........where a built in muffler only muffles the strike down. Like I said...if you have any trouble muffling your snare...this is for you!

Bought a used DW kit that had tremendous head ring and overtones. With this device, I could apply the amount of mute on the batter head plus with the swivel design, place it where it is out of harm's way. This is a product I recommend highly.

Fantastic

By pugwungas

This thing is seriously fantastic! Its the only one like it as far as I know, because it allows the possibility to turn it on or off. I can have it down and it works wonderfully to suppress overtones, but if I want to play my snare open and have a ringy sort of timbale sound its no problem. So much better that dampening rings which can hook on your sticks and pop off.It works wonderfully to dampen ringing and the on/off feature just takes the cake. BUY THIS!!

Attachment

I like the adustability of this device very much. I must point out however, that the main arm pivot rivet on the units that I received were overtight, making adjustment very difficult. This was kind of a moot point for me because there wasn't enough adustment on the rim mount to allow the pad to contact the head. I had to remove the offending rivet, add some shims, and replace the rivet with a nut and bolt. But this is just more of a nuisance than a serious complaint.

very useful doohickey

By Eric

Not sure if it's clear from the description, but they allow a raising and lowering, so I can easily go from a fairly restrained "tch" on the snare to a loud "poing!" I got two of them. One on the snare, and one on the floor tom--for that one, I found I had to slide a bit of cloth between the felt and the head, but still, it's tons better than taping something to the head. Well worth it.

Nice Muffler

My snare sort of sounded like a metal trash can until I mounted this muffler. It really helped reduce unwanted ringing.

Waste

I find this pointless. Why waste the money. Get some tape and paper towels. Fold up a paper towel and tape it to the drum head. It works perfectly for me and it's a lot less money.

If you're getting alot of overtones from your snare, this muffles them. I love my snare sound now!
