after getting over the unpleasant surprise that they are beater head ONLY, i replaced the worn felt beaters on my tama speed cobra double pedal without difficulty. these fit just fine, but i don't think they would fit any one else's pedals. they did NOT include shafts or weights. the other reviews lead one to believe that they are complete beater assemblies, which they are not. they are well made, and i don't forsee any real issues with them. i used them at a high intensity gig a few nights ago without incident.

Bought a pair of rubber beaters to replace the larger felt head stock beaters that comes with the Tama 600. OK for a couple months, then I noticed that the pedal wasn't coming back after a note all the time, did not pay much more attention and played a job where the head of the beaters was sticking to the drum head every time I hit it, replaced them with the original stock felt beaters the next night and called MF and they made good on the rubber ones and sent me out a set of felt ones that work fine.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

Had the rubber beater for a couple of weeks now and it seems to be a good, solid, well made piece. A note for those of you looking for a modification to the Axis sonic hammer: this beater can be used to replace the horizontal piece that has the cheap plastic beater on it because the head will swivel about 90 degrees. You will simply need to cut off the excess rod.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

I used to have stock beaters on my gibraltar, and they never hit the bass flat, and i didnt get much boom out of them, so i put forward the money for the felt tama beaters. Definantly worth it! I pedal faster and louder with cb90's. Dont buy another beater, use these!

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

Iv'e owned the felt beaters and they work great for all types of kick surfaces/disks, badges. Now Iv'e owned the wooden beaters for 6 years and they sound amazing and are still in one piece. YOU CANT USE A METAL KICK DISK AND EXPECT IT TO STAY TOGETHER. Get a falam patch and you should be happy.

GREAT BEATERS MAN!!!!! Get yours after you read this review. Im using the wood beaters and they bring out the natual sound of the bass drum just like wood tip drumsticks brings out the natural sound on the drums and cymbals. GREAT BEATERS MAN!!!!
I really love these beaters. Powerful and quick. I played with the weights on and off and Im loving it either way. Great beaters.
I believe these beaters will last a long time and I can tell that TAMA put some time and effort into making these beaters
These beaters are worth more than I paid for them. Just my opinion

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

I've had the felt on for about a year they're satisfying and versatile. I tried for the wood because my band started getting heavier and I need more 'oomph' to the kick. I love it. Haven't tried the rubber so I can't say anything. As for one of the comments below: the kid with the Danmar metal pad and wood beaters, talking about the beater not holding up. The Danmar pad is about 1/8in thick metal, hitting that with wood constantly. Think about that, hitting metal with wood for an extended period of time - you're going to break the wood.

Gets Hot and Sticks to Drumhead - Rotates out of position

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

These beaters give a nice punchy tone for hard rock and metal - IF you play slowly. But if you are a rapid fire player who does a lot of double bass - stay away. The face surface of this beater will get so hot that it sticks to the drumhead. They are also prone to rotate backward - no matter how tight you tighten them. They will move so far that the rubber striking face will be pointed nearly straight up. Tama needs to go back to the drawing board on this one and use a different rubber compound that isn't so sticky. Not recomended!!

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

I was using plastic beaters from another set of pedals. I got the wood beaters and immediately heard a difference in the tone. The wood has a higher pop tone vs plastic or felt.

I found using a bass drum Kevlar sticker and on top of this a peel an stick felt surface sticker tones down the thud in the drum and gives it a lush tone. I need this in the 26" bass drum I use.
The wood beaters sound amazing. I just hope they hold up and don't crack over time, this is a problem I have using wood tip drum sticks attributed to impact use.

If this occurs I'll try the rubber tips. I just wish they sold just the replacement beater head and not the entire arm.

I bought the rubber beaters for my double pedal, and it sounds great with hitting against my Danmar metal clicks. It bounces back nicely and it looks cool too. Still I would rather have the wooden beaters.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

I ordered two rubber beaters. The beaters themselves are really nice and have some great features. One of the beaters works great but the other, no matter how much I tighten/adjust the beater head, constantly hits the drum head at an angle. I've used them for three days and the lower half of the rubber surface is gone, worn straight through. I want to see about returning it or getting a new one.

            wood beater has bad quality

            By Anonymous

            from Undisclosed

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

My iron cobra was stock with the felt beaters, which sounded alright with my bass drum. Then I heard someone playing with a danmar double metal kick pad and wanted my bass drum to have that effect. So, I bought the rubber beater while waiting for my danmar order to arrive. The rubber added a beautiful punch to my bass drum. Finally, when my danmar pad arrived I put it on my bass head and the rubber didn?t give me the sound I was looking for. I then decided to try the wood to achieve more of a click effect from the pad. I bought the wood beater and put it on and played the pedal for about fifteen seconds and stopped. I looked down at the pedal and saw pieces of wood on the floor. One beater had shattered and the other fell off. The wood beater did sound awesome with the danmar pad while it lasted. I am very disgusted with the quality of the wood beater. Does anyone know what company has a wood or other type of beater that works well with the danmar metal kick pad?

i have all three of these beaters and they are all amazing. i personally prefer the wooden beaters because they have the clicky sound of the rubber beaters, but have much less mass. the reviewer who said that the wood fell off the beater must have had a defective product, because mine are still like new after almost a year of use. these are superb beaters!

I recently bought the rubber beater, and whenever I play on it, the beater itself rotates upwards. I've tightened it as much as possible. Thank God I had one of those foam pad/head protectors because my head would've gotten torn into (it ripped the protector baaad. it was during a show too.). Is this a normal thing? The beater itself had no instructions. If somebody could help I'd appreciate it.

I got the rubber one and if you make it so that it hits flat after a while it will start sticking to the head if you have the batter head tune low. I have this on a Tama pedal with a tama kit and in order for the kit to sound nice the bass drum has to be low tuned. Go for the wood. Almost the same sound but it won't stick

I've had the rubber ones for 2 years now. I bought 4 of them, a pair for my singal pedals, and a pair for my double pedals. They've held up fine. I've used cheaper rubber beaters before that have actually melted under mild use while these have held up fine. I'll probably give the wood a try next, but these rubber ones are so far my favorite.

Comments about Tama Iron Cobra Bass Drum Beater:

I have all three types of the Tama beaters. Being felt and wood and rubber. I have had no problems with either of them and I like the way that I can change the angle of the head so all the surface is flat and even at impact. My Yamaha wooden beater heads and like most beater heads only have a certain percent of the beater making contact and it is also a more severe impact causing damage to the head of the bass drum or wear and tear on the impact pad stickers. But with these TAMA beaters I have noticed that the impact surface is about almost the size of a nickle and flat and so much more even on impact. I like em quite a bit and I have had no problems. I use rubber or wood on my kit and sometimes felt on my practice kit.
