A better strap-type pedal.
Chain-drives are now the prevalent pedal design but the Tama Iron Cobra Flexi Glide Twin Pedal shows that Tama hasn't forgotten players who still prefer the wonderful floating action of a strap pedal. Named after Tama's classic Flexi-Flyer strap pedal, the new Flexi-Glide Twin Pedal features a DuPont Kevlar strap which is much more durable than the old nylon and leather straps found on some drum pedals.

I bought this pedal 4 years ago and it was/is the first double pedal I have ever used. (I'm sure improvements have been made since) It has done very well and held up until just recently, but I am told 4-5 years out of a pedal is very good, especially if you play a hard style like I do. The main cam is wearing down, the slot that holds the beater is cracking, and the metal surrounding it has fractured. Still functions fine at this point.I have always used Tama pedals. Very smooth, quick, and lots of adjustments make this pedal versatile. One downside is the pedal is built to handle only Tama beaters...other beaters don't fit properly. I was told the strap drive is faster than a chain but I am not convinced of that. Although ,the pedal is very quick. The carrying case is heavy duty, the slot to hold the tuning key is a nice touch, and it's easy to adjust overall. A solid pedal but for this price, a DW may be the way to go.

A couple of months ago I upgraded my existing double pedal to the Flexi Glide. Features - plenty, construction - solid ... but the maintenance, an absolute joke. This pedal is like a little baby, requiring constant attention or else it bails on you when u need it most. Straight out of the box my pedal also had nicks and scratches which was totally unacceptable. The flexi comes std with felt heads which is WAYY to light for this pedal's speed. I would definately recommend rubber heads to compensate for the pedal's "light, airy" feel, which was promised to me for no extra charge, and also which I never received. As a "bonus", this was my only pedal EVER that started squeaking after only 1 month of use. All in all ... ok pedal with several, annoying litle bugs. Gibraltar - much more rugged and better value.

I bought a whole Tama set up last year because I heard good reviews about them and some of my favorite drummers played them, so I bought a flexi glide, when I started playing it it was a terribly sloppy feeling pedal no matter how I adjusted it, the left side is way off from the right and the cloth strip starts to become strings soon, I put tama heavy spring on it to make it heavier but it only helped marginally and overall it still feels very sloppy, It is true too that it does not snap back fast enough for your next stroke making doubles difficult and the sloppy feeling makes it difficult to keep solid time especially once you get going fast and your filling up a whole measure with bass notes, Overall from the revies I heard of Iron cobra and then the reality of owning one made me belive its all nonsense, This pedal is junk dont buy it I have a lowest of the line pearl pedal and this cheap 40 dollar pedal feels lightyears better than the tama, Im selling my glide to whomever is dumb enough to buy it and Im gonna buy Pearl equipment!
On the studio one I Love the flexi glide (the one with the strap)no sound @ all, but far as Live performance just NO pedal can beat the Rolling glide (cobra coil one), the power glide you can say it's the classic one, but still really good, I own multiple pedals cuz Got different drumsets but power glide can be defeated by DW9000 because of the CAM (accelerator to turbo) without tightening the springs, But I can tell you right now NO PEDAL IS BETTER THAN Rolling GLIDE IRON COBRA! .
They need to have a quicker snapback, and they are too heavy.
I just received the pedal about a week ago and All I can say is wow!!! It will move as fast as your feet can move. I knew that response was going to be good, but after receiving it and playing it I changed my view about the pedal. It wasn't good it was great. and There is so many ways that you can adjust the pedal to fit your style. Overall the pedal is great you should buy it if you don't have it. I now bought the Iron Cobra Glide hi-hat to go with it. It is a beautiful pair. SO GO BUY IT!!!!!
This pedal is awesome! It feels like your feet are on a cloud as you play! Of course it's an Iron Cobra but man this thing rocks. It's so smooth and has so many adjustments to fit all drummers.
The smoothest pedal i have ever drummed with. Comes with drum key!! Awesome durablity. Amazing speed. well worth your money you will stick with this pedal from the day you test it.
This is my first "strap" pedal i've ever used and i must say, even though it's VERY similar to regular style chain drive pedals, it IS a bit smoother, a bit quicker and really does give you that floating feeling. I think the Iron Cobra is one of the best pedals out there with THE most features. Excellent pedal.
It's really fast and feels almost like a real double bass kit. The left side beater is a little off on timing, but it's still good.
This has to be the best double bass pedal i have ever owned. It may be a little pricy but the quality that you will recieve from this pedal is unbelievable i have owned 3 other double bass pedals in my 10 year of being a drummer and this is by far the best if you are thinking about getting something cheaper DONT!!!! Save your money and buy this pedal it is well worth the price
I've owned both the DW 5002AD3s and the Iron Cobra Flexi-glides and I must say that the Cobras are just as good, if not better, than the DWs for $60 less. The DWs were smooth, yes, but they had very little easy adjustments that you could do, plus they didn't have any toe stoppers. With the Iron Cobras, you can change all aspects of the pedals to make sure that you can play as fast as possible. They even come with their own Allen wrenches specifically made for the pedal so you can make adjustments. The only problem with these pedals is if you own two bass drums, like me, then you can't attach the secondary (left) pedal to your second bass because it has a connection onto it that screws into the ground to make sure the pedal doesn't move while playing. Other than that, I absolutely love these pedals. Now I can play as fast as Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater!
