OVERVIEW

A better strap-type pedal.

Chain-drives are now the prevalent pedal design but the Tama Iron Cobra Flexi Glide Twin Pedal shows that Tama hasn't forgotten players who still prefer the wonderful floating action of a strap pedal. Named after Tama's classic Flexi-Flyer strap pedal, the new Flexi-Glide Twin Pedal features a DuPont Kevlar strap which is much more durable than the old nylon and leather straps found on some drum pedals.

I bought this pedal 4 years ago and it was/is the first double pedal I have ever used. (I'm sure improvements have been made since) It has done very well and held up until just recently, but I am told 4-5 years out of a pedal is very good, especially if you play a hard style like I do. The main cam is wearing down, the slot that holds the beater is cracking, and the metal surrounding it has fractured. Still functions fine at this point.I have always used Tama pedals. Very smooth, quick, and lots of adjustments make this pedal versatile. One downside is the pedal is built to handle only Tama beaters...other beaters don't fit properly. I was told the strap drive is faster than a chain but I am not convinced of that. Although ,the pedal is very quick. The carrying case is heavy duty, the slot to hold the tuning key is a nice touch, and it's easy to adjust overall. A solid pedal but for this price, a DW may be the way to go.

I bought a whole Tama set up last year because I heard good reviews about them and some of my favorite drummers played them, so I bought a flexi glide, when I started playing it it was a terribly sloppy feeling pedal no matter how I adjusted it, the left side is way off from the right and the cloth strip starts to become strings soon, I put tama heavy spring on it to make it heavier but it only helped marginally and overall it still feels very sloppy, It is true too that it does not snap back fast enough for your next stroke making doubles difficult and the sloppy feeling makes it difficult to keep solid time especially once you get going fast and your filling up a whole measure with bass notes, Overall from the revies I heard of Iron cobra and then the reality of owning one made me belive its all nonsense, This pedal is junk dont buy it I have a lowest of the line pearl pedal and this cheap 40 dollar pedal feels lightyears better than the tama, Im selling my glide to whomever is dumb enough to buy it and Im gonna buy Pearl equipment!

SMOOOOOTH

By 64 Pearl Pro Series

from Fargo, North Dakota

Amazing. Simply amazing. The smoothest pedal on the market. Any one who is looking for the fastest pedal on the market, you have found it. It makes poly-rhythms, triplets, and 32nd notes sound smooth, amazing, and right on target. If you play fast, heavy music this is the pedal for you.

Differences

On the studio one I Love the flexi glide (the one with the strap)no sound @ all, but far as Live performance just NO pedal can beat the Rolling glide (cobra coil one), the power glide you can say it's the classic one, but still really good, I own multiple pedals cuz Got different drumsets but power glide can be defeated by DW9000 because of the CAM (accelerator to turbo) without tightening the springs, But I can tell you right now NO PEDAL IS BETTER THAN Rolling GLIDE IRON COBRA! .

i do not own this pedal yet, but i have heard good reviews on it. My friend who is a drummer in a metal band loves it and says this pedal is good for fast double bass. i think the guy below who says any tama product is junk is a dumbass. tama is a top of the line company and is well worth your money!

Exceptional pedal

By Grindxmaggot

I got this pedal about last year, and it hasn't let me down since. theres no bull! in between your foot movement and the pedal movement. This pedal helps you obtain the fastest foot movement possible, and for the music that i play, i need that. but even if your not into the hardcore genre, just buy th single pedal. its incredible for fusion jazz, jazz, or any other genre that you could want to play.

Only The Best Pedal EVER!!!!!

By Billyj0607

from Frankfort, KY

I just received the pedal about a week ago and All I can say is wow!!! It will move as fast as your feet can move. I knew that response was going to be good, but after receiving it and playing it I changed my view about the pedal. It wasn't good it was great. and There is so many ways that you can adjust the pedal to fit your style. Overall the pedal is great you should buy it if you don't have it. I now bought the Iron Cobra Glide hi-hat to go with it. It is a beautiful pair. SO GO BUY IT!!!!!

dont bother

By youtube.com/soundmob

from chicago

Ive always used DW and Pearl for their well balanced feel and predictable down and upstrokes. The flexi glide is smooth but hard to adjust to execute drags and ruffs. I even replaced the springs to the heavy duty tama springs and that didnt help much. I also tried different weights and beaters. Still felt heavy and sluggish. Also the heel plate gets in the way if you play heel/toe technique for doubles. And no matter how I adjusted spring tension it was hopeless yet.

Best Pedal Ever

By InYuco Katan

from Texas

The best Pedals I have ever had. The are smooth, and very fast responding. Very easy to get those 1/16 beats going and staying consistent, and the mallets focus the hit just perfectly to make the best sound off of the bass. I have to give them a big thumbs up.

They need to have a quicker snapback, and they are too heavy.
