OVERVIEW

Strike like a Cobra with this extremely tweakable chain-drive double pedal.

This Iron Cobra Power Glide chain-drive double kick pedal features Tama's Cobra Coil. Power Glide off-set cam pedals are typically chosen by players who want a steady, powerful and speedy action. Tama's innovative Cobra Coil pedal spring accelerates the return of the footboard to its original position, resulting in an unbelievably effortless action that sets the already smooth Iron Cobra apart from all other pedals on the market.

Power Glide Cam
This Power Glide model features double-chained offset cams, which increase power and speed as the beaters reach the end of their strokes.

Cobra Coil
Until now, the only way to adjust your beater stroke action was to tighten the pedal spring. Sometimes that did the job. More often, the action just felt sluggish and heavier. Tama's latest innovation, the Cobra Coil, simply and easily solves the problem. A steel spring quickly returns the footboard to its original position, so the feel of the Iron Cobra is exceptional. The Cobra Coil can also be adjusted to different positions on the new Iron Cobra footboard base plate.

Cobra pedal housing
Iron Cobra pedals come equipped with nylon insulators for the bearing housings inside the pedal frame. The insulators keep the bearings centered in place and secured in the most stable position. This ensures proper bearing support for the drive shaft without unnecessary stress. The end result of these improvements is the smoothest pedal action possible.

Speedo-Ring
Tama eliminated another source of friction by replacing the traditional nylon rocker cam with the Speedo-Ring, a rocker cam with a high quality built-in ball bearing rocker.

Oiles bearing hinge
Offering even less friction than standard ball bearings, Oiles bearings also eliminate side-to-side motion and provide superior durability which is why they're used in the aerospace industry.

Spring Tight
Twisting springs severely reduce pedal smoothness. Spring Tight, a clever half-moon shaped spring tension rod, keeps the spring from twisting, so there's never any loss of power transmission.

Iron Cobra beater
The Iron Cobra beater adjusts the beater head angle to guarantee a flat hit to the bass drum head every time, translating your strike into maximum power. In addition, it's easy to obtain different bass drum sounds simply by changing the beater head.

Vari-Pitch beater holder
Vari-Pitch beater angle adjustments are completely independent of footboard angle. The Speedo-Ring allows you to adjust the angle of the footboard link independently of the beater angle. And with the combination of the Speedo-Ring and the Vari-Pitch, you can achieve any kind of stroke and also enjoy improved playability.

Para-Clamp II
Para-Clamp keeps your pedal flat on the floor no matter what your bass drum angle is. The Para-Clamp is tightened from the side, so you never have to insert your finger under the footboard. And since you can clamp your pedal to hoops up to 14mm (9/16") in thickness, Iron Cobra will fit just about any bass drum on the market.

Tight Lock
Tight Lock makes sure the beater shaft stays put by fixing and locking the square head bolt, which fixes the beater shaft.

Pedal Anchor
To keep left-side double pedals from walking, a special stabilizer is mounted to the outside frame. This augments the stability of the floor anchor bolts.

Connecting Rod
The aluminum-made connecting rod has made the light weight and smooth adjustment possible. Instead of the screws fixing the inner rod directly, the small plate inside spreads the pressure appropriately, so it can be tightened more securely without damaging the rod. This new design prevents the separation of the inner and outer rods when adjusting the length, which reduces the trouble during setup and teardown.

Quick-Hook
Quick-Hook not only allows rapid spring attachment and reattachment for rapid set up and tear down, it also eliminates wobbling and allows maximum power transmission to the Speedo-Ring. Plus, you never have to worry about it slipping off during performance.

Carrying Case
You know what pedals go through night after night. After being stomped on over and over, they get thrown in bags and road cases where there's more hard rock 'n' roll than during the gig itself.

That's why precision instruments like Tama's Iron Cobras come with a specially designed protective carrying case. It's amazing that no one thought of it before.

I bought these pedals when i first started drumming because a buddy of mine who i jammed with a lot had em and reccommended them. They felt really smooth when i played them, then again, i didn't know a thing about drumming, i got instantly sucked into drumming and set my guitar down and focused on drums. After i owned them (mind you i didn't have these new ones with the cobra spring) i liked the power behind them. But trying to do rolling kick with some of the metal songs i was playing i was getting super tired to the point of leaning over the set to put more ooomph into it but i just got to tired. I went online and learned how to adjust the springs so they would be quicker, it helped, but still, super heavy pedals. They got that punch, but they are too heavy for rolling kick that goes on for more than 25 seconds or so. The clamp stayed put pretty good to the kit. They are very sturdy and hold up very well, i played shows with em and they stayed solid. The material they are made out of is strong and i didn't have any real problems with stuff coming undone or loose. The main point to take away is that they are heavy, im sure they are awesome for prog rock and stuff where they have little quick kick parts. I'm upgrading to the Trick Big Foot doubles, there are a few good comparisons to these pedals to the Trick, the big thing for me is speed, i need it in the prog death metal stuff i play, and now i can finally afford to upgrade. Enjoy these pedals, just understand that they are heavy, and also heavy duty and will last...

ive been double bassing for 2 years and decided to upgrade from Pearl P902 Double Pedal. i was looking in particular for something more responsive so i could go faster and more precise. the ICs are more powerful, but way way way not as good as the reputation says!!! they are almost as sluggish as my old pearls. and believe me, i adjusted them and tweaked them every way possible. there are countless youtube videos of people going mega fast with them, but those must not be the powerglides, i think, because i DO have what it takes to play that way, i do it on my friends DWs. its just impossible for me to have control and speed on these things. anyway, thats my take on them.

Amazing Pedals!

By Anthony Colombini

from CA.

A bit pricey but well worth it.
Going from DW Delta 5000 To the Iron Cobra is amazing. Right out of the box they are really smooth and very fast, lots of power playing hard and a nice feel playing at a whisper. With minor adjustments to beater angle and spring tension to my liking, I have never had such a great pedal. I have compared the Speed Cobra to these and like this one better for all around playing. I will enjoy these pedals for many gigs and years to come. Try Them!
Well worth it.

Best Chain Drive Double Bass Pedal

By MirrorImageDrum

from Undisclosed

I used to have a low-end Taye pedal, and I felt that I wasn't getting any faster on it. I switched to this badboy and now I'm not only faster, but I'm more controlled and precise! Amazing product!

Speed

By esp_for_life

from Dont worry about it

This is the fastest pedal I've ever used, i can do over 280bpms on it. Its amazingly smooth, and really durable. the size is good too, i have big feet (size 15) and they were comfortable. the only thing i don't like are the beaters, i think with different beaters they'd be (somehow) even faster.

Tama Iron Cobra

By Drumhero529

from A Place

This thing is unbelievable i went from a pdp 101 to this thing and it's just honestly stunning i spent about 5 minutes adjusting it and i can play fast than ever and not be even hard. i thought the price was steep but i got a deal at the local music shop for 330 for a student there at one time and for giving them all my buisness and boy did this thing surprise me definitely worth it and in drums you are hitting stuff with wood until something breaks so go all out in the beginning and save yourself alot of money in the long run

Not my Style

By ScheterPlayer14

from Altus, AR

I used these today at guitar center, and to be frank, I wasn't pleased. I have a pair of pearl double bass pedals, you know the ones with the lines and circles on them, and I prefer those more than these things. I felt like these were almost sort of heavy, and they required a lot of power to use. Which it may have been that I was playing on an electronic drum set, but I don't think that that has much to do with it. If you ever have any doubts, go with what you're style is. If you want to go super fast, get something a little bit lighter. Which then again, you may be able to adjust these to be lighter, but I didn't, so I'm sticking with my pearls!

Still great after twelve years

By Jaysen6740

from Chattanooga, TN

I have been using the same Iron Cobra Double Pedal for twelve years and it is still playing strong. I have always been satisfied with this double pedal. The feel is just right. Some of the newer pedals like the Pearl Demon Drive glide almost too well. This is not to say that the Iron Cobra doesn't glide well, but that it is just right. My Iron Cobra has several battle wounds, but this has in no way changed it's performance. If you want a pedal that will last you the long haul. This is the one.

the howitzer

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I recently got this pedal about a month ago. the first thing i thought when taking it out of the hard case was how solid it felt, i haven't had it for a long time but it feels like it'll last a life time. so far, no problems with it except for the occasional spring noise which is easily fixed with some lubricant. playing it for the first time i realized the incredible power of it, though not the smoothest pedal out there, it still plays real fast. adjustment is top notch due to amount of options and ease. i nicknamed it the howitzer cause of the sheer power and projection it gave my bass drum. overall great pedal
