Tune all strings simultaneously with the world's first polyphonic tuner.

Tuning used to be a necessary evil. The last barrier before you could get truly rocking. But now, tuning is ready to get blasted into the 21st century with PolyTune™, the stomp-box-sized tuning miracle from TC Electronic. The magic lies in an approach to tuning aimed at speed, accuracy and ease of use. With PolyTune, you simply strum all strings on your guitar or bass at once, and it will immediately tell you which strings need tuning. It really is as simple as strum, tune, and rock. This leap forward in tuners allows you to get in tune fast, and back to doing what you love—playing.

Strum, tune, and rock
Providing an instant overview of the pitch of all your strings, PolyTune is an invaluable tool in live settings, where it is essential to be in tune quickly and ready to play. Crowds don't want to wait around, they want to rock, and, let's face it, so do you. Besides live use, this stomp box will deliver like no other in any situation where you want to get tuning out of the way and focus on play.

Fever pitch
Equally effective for guitar and bass, PolyTune is extremely flexible as well. The reference pitch can be set to your preference and ranges from 435Hz to 445Hz. This guarantees you'll be able to play along with anyone, with any instrument and in any situation.

Drop it like it's hot
If you are a guitarist that likes to play at a different pitch than standard, this is your go-to pedal, allowing for dropped tunings from E-flat all the way down to B.

Chromatic champion
Besides the Polyphonic tuner, PolyTune has a chromatic tuner that can hang with the best current tuning technology out there, with an amazing 0.5-cent accuracy.

Tuning modes
The two separate chromatic tuning modes cater to your individual preferences and needs. Needle mode is for those that are used to the classic view on a tuner. Stream-mode is for musicians that want a little more real-time information. The Stream mode measures even the slightest pitch variation and instantly feeds the info back via a rotating motion on the display.

Tuning magnet
Key to both these great chromatic modes is an ultra-fast and precise response, which is achieved via the use of the unique tuner magnet feature. This slows down the needle once you get close to the desired pitch, making it much easier to get the job done quickly.

MonoPoly
Whether you want to use the polyphonic tuner to get in tune, or prefer to go the chromatic route, this pedal has you covered. PolyTune features "MonoPoly", a unique patent-pending technology that recognizes whether you play one or more strings and instantly replies with the appropriate poly- or monophonic tuning mode.

Total recall
Of course, all of these amazing features would not mean a thing if they were a pain to use or set up. So, TC Electronic added some traits to ensure this tuner is calibrated to the guitarist. Unlike most other tuners, PolyTune stores your preferences. From pitch reference to tuning mode, it hangs on to this information even after it is powered down, making sure you only have to set how you want things to happen once. The next time you power up again, it will show you the settings, so you instantly know everything is exactly how you want it to be.

Tuning as it should be
PolyTune provided a chance to build the ultimate tuning tool from the ground up and finally get rid of some of the current tuner drawbacks that guitarists run into time and time again

A strong display of innovation
Guitarists that play gigs recognize the nightmare of an unclear display, due to for example bright sunlight, an overeager light technician or a stage smoke machine gone bonkers. PolyTune offers unprecedented visibility using an ambient light sensor, which automatically matches the brightness of the LEDs to its surroundings. PolyTune features 17 LEDS which allow for a higher resolution. The LEDs themselves are bright and focused to ensure optimal visibility at all times. And as an added bonus, the 100 LED matrix can give you information right on the display, so you won't have to go dig for the manual mid-gig.

Size matters
PolyTune will brighten any pedalboard, Its small footprint design means that PolyTune doesn't take up more of your precious pedalboard real estate than absolutely necessary.

Spruce the juice
Battery changes are a breeze thanks to the one-screw, easy access battery compartment. In addition, when powered by an external 9V DC power supply, the 9V DC out can be used to power other pedals on your board.

True bypass
The true bypass feature ensures PolyTune is only there when you need it. It allows for your carefully sculpted tone to flow unaffected when the pedal is bypassed and for silent tuning once engaged.

Highly functional tuner. The dynamic brightness of the LEDs are a nice touch. The display is pretty simple to understand. Works nicely for fine-tuning jobs like intonations. The bypass isn't completly silent, there's a slight hum when I switch it on but in the context of a gig it wouldn't be noticeable. The ability to tune all six strings at once is cool, but personally I don't think it's all that usefull or really even needed. You can't adjust the pitch of all six strings at once anyway. I could see someone using that feature to quickly check their tuning on the fly but using it to actually tune up your guitar seems unlikely. Small, compact pedal that doesn't take up too much room on the board. The LEDs are easy to read and it's really easy to get used to the tuning display. Very intuitive. One of the best pedal tuners on the market in my humble opinion.

I've found that all the TC Electronic pedals are sturdy, rugged, and built to last being stepped on many times. They're not too big, so fit on a pedalboard nicely, and the power is at the top of the pedal, not at the side like most MXR pedals which can be a bit annoying. I don't know that this is a pedal to be raved about...

Tried using on acoustic first, with a very strong under-saddle pickup (Fishman) and volume at 3/4. It wouldn't read the 6th and 5th strings. 4-1 were fine. I tuned them all individually, as the "poly" function seems pretty useless, and I've found, inaccurate. I've heard these are both common complaints.

On electric, I had the same problem with the 6th and 5th not being read.. maybe a flash here and there. However, I figured out that when I rolled the tone knob on my guitar all the way down, it worked... but wasn't very accurate. Very weird. A friend (guitar tech) of mine told me I should tune using the neck pickup. So I did. Nothing.

Selling it and getting a Korg pitch-black. When it comes to tuning, simple is better!

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Chromatic Pedal Tuner:

Have always used battery operated clip on headstock tuners in the past but found it difficult to accurately tune in live jam or performance situations; finally broke down and got one I could plug into and the result was what I had hope for - more accurate tuning and the ability to tune without having sound come out of the amp for both electric or acoustic/electric.

The screen fell off upon taking it out of the box. This is the second T.C. product to fail on me in the last year. At least the Flashback switch lasted for a couple dozen gigs. T.C. is officially sacrificing quality for mass production.

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Chromatic Pedal Tuner:

After seeing that some of my favorite guitar players used TC Electronics I decided to get one myself. I decided to go with this Polytune and man I'm glad I did!! This thing is excellent. It has a bright display and you can easily use this thing in dark places or dark concerts. I like that you can strum and it tells you which strings are out of tune. Me personally, I like to tune each individual string. Works great in different tunings, especially in drop tunings like drop c or drop d. After getting this I sold my Boss TU2 tuner and this stays on my pedalboard. Get one and see for yourself how great this thing is!!

I use one of these with my acoustic setup. I like it much better than the polyphonic tuner I had in my electric rig so I bought another one. It's fast and accurate. I've read where it's not as accurate as others but I tried it against my boss tu2 and my hardwire ht6 polyphonic and its just as accurate. It's much easier to see also. The strings are not so close together that you need to look hard. Also when it's off it's invisible. True bypass.

Comments about TC Electronic Polytune Chromatic Pedal Tuner:

I've been using this tuner for over a year now. The footswitch occasionally does not engage - you hear and feel the click, but it doesn't switch. The design and position of it (it's low) allows you to "miss" it sometimes. This to me is the major flaw. The polytuning works, but reads strings as a drop flat when individually they read dead on - this may be due partially to the difference in string attack when you pluck one string vs. a gentle strum - but it's a flaw. You strum, it reads strings as flat, you pick the string to tune it up and it's dead on. In reality, real life at gigs, polytuning is not needed. I can tune string by string faster and so the polytuning becomes a novelty and I just about never use it. A poly tuner is useless if you have more than a single tuning, so you'll just tune a string at a time anyway. I use 5 different tunings on 3 guitars so I have to tune chromatically. Lastly, this tuner doesn't match a boss tu-2, so when playing with other musicians who use that tuner, you will not line up. This may be the accurate tuner, but still you have to take this into consideration as most players are using a TU-2. I will not use one of those again, as true bypass in a tuner is great. I'm shopping for a new tuner right now...
